  1. hi cynthia, can you share your with me contractor contact as well? i'm getting my keys this month and feel i haven't done enough homework >.< only got 3 quotations so far and all also burst my budget..
  2. Hi to all ID/Contractors here. I'm open to quotations, however, please quote according to this list so that it will be easier for me to compare the quotes. Thanks
  3. yes to sales, if you are going to that 1, you can drop by Sia Huat annual warehouse sales, also same dates, at 20 pandan road. i'm going on Saturday
  4. haha.. my kitchen is actually quite big compared to the new btos liao.. 3ft is only for the tall unit.. i wrote there is 1000 cm not 1000 mm, so it's 30ft (inclusive of on top of fridge) for top and 27ft for bottom.. after calculating, my top and bottom cabinet got 57ft total!! yea, the L box for 2 & 3 is just to see the pricing only, probably will not do..
  5. we will be getting our flat by the end of this year, however, still have not done much research ID/contractor-wise.. i have gotten 1 quotation, however, it is way over my budget.. dunno whether it is reasonable or not.. some items i know grossly overprice, like painting of whole unit, have found individual contractor that will do the painting (Nippon) for only $750!! other IDs don't even bother to reply, maybe ask too early (started doing a bit of sourcing in Apr).. and some refuse to give us the quotation until we meet them at their showroom.. can anybody tell me if this is overpriced?? we have since tried to manage our expectations and have taken some out of our "want" list, and others we are ready to buy ready-made, however, if this company wanna treat us like carrot, then dun think wanna go back to them for another quotation.. our new list as below hdb has provided us with the floor and wall tiles, doors and toilet bowl, shower, sink... of course, i'm also leaving the option to buy ready-made from taobao for some of the stuffs like shoe cabinet, tv console, some of the display shelves and the book shelves if the cost of custom-made is too high.. is it possible to keep within 15k (not inclusive of electrical, lights, furnishing, etc...)?? husband is very adamant about not taking any reno loan, actually he is ok with just bring the bed and put inside and that's it.. so i'm also keeping the option that we will do the reno part by part, this time do kitchen only, next year do living room and 3 years later then do bathrooms (cuz then can hack).. initially thot of unimax as we have alot of carpentry items and they have this promo of $75/ftr but they dun wanna give us the quotation unless we go to their showroom, make me abit suspicious >.<
  6. can pm me your granite top contact too and cost? thanks
  7. you might want to try hoyoyo if you can read chinese.. open an account with taobao (you can use your credit card or register for an alipay account to make payment) and get the seller to ship to hoyoyo's warehouse in china.. this process will likely take a day or 2, it's really not easy seeing as the customer service only speaks and types in chinese.. but it's very useful as after that, you can use taobao with hoyoyo for big items like transformer (i got mine for only $50 incl shipping for my keurig), luggage bags and such.. hoyoyo charges by weight and not size, whereas 65daigou goes by whichever is higher.. and even if it's a weighty item, hoyoyo still has better rates if you are getting above 1kg of stuffs.. however, if i'm shipping below 1kg, then i'll use 65daigou,.. as for peeka, i find that their rates are quite steep, as if i can't read chinese, i will still go for 65daigou.. and for big big big items, you can use amcon express.. can't remember their rates, but is way cheaper then hoyoyo but if i'm not wrong, they charge by the cubic meter...
  8. lol.. i laughed when i read the part where you called the police on them however, yea, very scary leh, it's like, if you don't let them do, then later in the night they know which house to go to........ can post picture of the lock they use? is this problem only with sliding windows? so if use casement window wun have such problem lor?
  9. Hi, can somebody pm me alan's contact number? Thanks
  10. hey.. can pm your contractor and quotation? Thanks
  11. that's not just glass, the material looks like it's flexible.... anyway.. my dad just uses a big glass jar that's lying around the house and cut a coin slot on the cap.. as for cable management, you can try this
  12. how about this from TB? only CNY258, approx S$53 (excluding shipping). looks pretty retro too.. just search TB for 壁扇 (wall fan) they have quite a selection.. however, dunno whether can find 1 similar to the vento vino not..
  13. rough list of works Carpentry 24.3ft - bottom cabinet 16.2ft - top cabinet 3.3ft - full height cabinet 8.7ft - wooden wardrobe door sliding 7.2ft - full height bookshelf 15.3ft - 1/2 height bookshelf 2.4ft - full height shoe cabinet 2.4ft - 1/2 height shoe cabinet 16.2ft - glass sliding door 6.6ft x 10.8ft - study platform 10.8ft - tv console 5.4ft - toilet cabinet l boxes to cover unsightly pipes, aircon trunking, etc... remove shower and some of the sanitary wares To install bathtub x1 shower kerb x1 shower curtain rod x2 rainshowers x2 toilet bowl x2 sink and cabinet x1 and depending on how the lights and sockets are, might need to shift some of it around. 20k?? actually, regarding the city gas thing, yup, i'm gonna have it in the kitchen, also, it's not that huge. only 512 x 330 x 135mm.. and it is only $180, my colleague mentioned that she's using that and it supplies hot water to both bathrooms and kitchen so it's cheaper than 2 instant heater?
  14. 3 of the main areas that we are looking to do.. mostly carpentry.. Kitchen kitchen cabinets Living Room glass sliding doors elevated study area bookshelves tv console install projector screen Foyer shoe cabinets storage cabinets as for the wardrobes in the rooms, we will be getting Ikea's Stolmen system and fixing it up ourselves. for the masterbedroom, we will put sliding doors at the recess area in front of the air con ledge window.. basically will be something like this.. any comments?? will 20k cover these?
  15. I'm using Hoyoyo to recharge my Alipay. exchange rate at 0.2055(4.87) there is a 3.9% service charge if i use CC or paypal, but no such charge when i use bank transfer.
  16. OMG.. i can't stop laughing when i saw your fridge!! that's the 1 i want too and same reason, it was also love at 1st sight how much did you pay for the fridge? actually, you should open it and take a picture.. the inside is **** spacious
  17. yes, door will be more effective. but, since you are only going to be using it when you put your makeup, a curtain should suffice..
  18. can i ask where you bought the bathtub at? thanks
  19. while a curtain will help, nothing beats a solid wall.. there will still be some "spillover" you just have to gauge what you will deem acceptable.. maybe if you on the aircon the whole day, the other room will also be cool (how much also depends on how thick your curtains will be)..
  20. 1/2 year later and i'm back here again.. @Sygnur : nope, haven't started anything yet, we will be getting our keys by the end of this year, and we are going to start by slowly interviewing ID/constrators now.. like 1 week 1.. @adidaem : we have tot it thru and we are gonna go for the gas heater >.< i spoke to my colleague and she said her's was really good and heats up fast.. my family also uses instant heater (electric one, installed 2 years ago) and the water is always hot, whereas my hubby's home uses a storage heater (i think it's 10+ years old) and the water always takes very long.. but we will look revisit the idea after we get the keys and try the water pressure for ourselves.. we discussed the question of the gas thingy in the kitchen, but as we will be using induction cooker, we are more fang xin about this. also (hubby made this point) if our neighbours install it, there is the chance that it will blow up anyway whether or not we have it >.< i have since changed some of my ideas, hopefully they will cost less.. will post it up tonight.. also, can i have some recommendations for cheap and good ID/contractor/carpenter? >.<
  21. for me, it's the size issue.. with a built-in oven, i will be able to make a full size pizza, bake more cookies in a batch and maybe even a whole bird.. i think i have a pretty big table top oven, but thing is, when i try to fit a pizza tray in, the door wun close..
  22. did you sign their package for your kitchen cabinets, if so, and they are limiting you to laminate, then it will be difficult to do country style.. otherwise, you can try ikea for kitchen cabinets (which is what came to my mind immediately when i saw the white country kitchen you posted), their Lindingo off-white cabinet doors can give you a country look.. country style kitchen specialist usually charge an arm and a leg, so unless you got money to burn.......
  23. for my budget planning, i added the budget for all the items i hope to get the carpenter to do as well, like tv console, kitchen cabinets etc... but i use the ikea planners to plan how much it would cost if i were to get ikea instead.. so that if the carpenter is able to match or beat ikea's price, then i get custom furniture, if not, i will settle for the ikea version.. also means that you need to build your own furniture though, more trouble but if it saves money, i would rather.. i highlight all the stuff that i'm unable to do myself, like hacking of walls, plumbing and electricals.. and then lastly, i separate out the items into 2 categories, the "must get now" category and "can get later" category.. you might want to check these websites for stuff taobao - for furnishing, lights, faucet, etc beds.sg - for beds, mattresses, sofa sets and dining sets ikea - for system wardrobe, kitchen cabinets, tv consoles, etc coolserve - for aircon, i only use this as a tentative price as i have not gone price hunting lion city - for other appliances, also using this price as a tentative only me and hubby restrict ourselves to nothing fancy.. no thousand dollar dining set, no hundreds of dollars pendant light, etc.. especially since we are already splurging on the reno and so much things to buy, those that are built-in and we have no choice then go ahead and buy, those that can be easily replaced, like dining set and sofa, no harm getting a $120 set to warm your butt, next time got money then buy the thousand dollar one..
  24. awh.. that's too bad.. i was thinking of at least buying my bathtub from taobao as it is sooooo expensive here.. i'm using sweet home to check the size of my furnishing as i haven't gotten my keys yet.. should be quite zhun as long as the dimensions in the descriptions are correct.. can you pm me the contact for May please. thanks
  25. yay.. finally.. somebody who's doing the entire house up with taobao.. it's something i discussed with my hubby, but we were afraid to do as we were afraid that big items like beds will be expensive to ship and other stuff like toilet bowl, bathtub and sink might chip when they deliver it.. please please send me the contacts for May thank you so much.. i recently bought some cups from taobao and they were cheap and really pretty, their quality is in no way lower than what we can find in singapore, sometimes, the stuff that i get from taobao is even better quality than what i can get in singapore, and for the price, you will not find that quality anywhere else.. i also bought a 2000w step down transformer, for the keurig brewer i bought from amazon us, and it only cost S$50, shipping cost S$60 together with my cups. since the transformer is pretty heavy, let's say it cost 2/3 of the shipping price. so my transformer cost only S$90.. this could easily cost double if i were to go to homefix.. i'm using hoyoyo for small items, but for the bulk shipping, they are charging CNY630 per 0.5 cubic meter..
