I like ur muji dining table. Sorry to hear abt many defects. Hope all will be rectified to good condition.

I missed the chance to view WIP. What a pity. My poor baby still got mild fever.. One question: what would ur ID say abt painting the pipes n electrical case in black?
-
I think the work flow should be -confirm details in the quote > confirm 2/3d drAwings, sign on it > confirm lights n electrical points planning > then hack n rebuild. This is just my guess. Haven't done any Reno.

Www.ssfhome.come I found it.

Haha, we can draw n paint. Should make our flat a big canvas to doodle. My little girl will have her special corner to do her doodling. Ah, yes. Some will be sticker.. Some will be purely mural paintings. Some r just cartoon, some will be artistic illustration of nature.

Nope. Mine is just "easy to clean, easy to keep tidy n neat n empty".. No specific theme.if there must be one, maybe "quirky, funny, whimsical house"? Like this inspiration board for DIY project: I don't even look at furniture store as husband n I dont plan to buy any furniture.. Hahaha.. Except for our dining table n chairs.

No wonder u woke up so early! Too excited to sleep was it? How is the flat? Got any defect?

From pinkiwhale or pinki something.., a reno thread-starter here... So u gotta read all the t-blogs to find out. The author labelled it as her inspiration. I thought it is nice to keep as reference so I saved it. U r into industrial theme as well?

Oh oh oh..... U remind me of my FIL. I was shocked when my husband told me his father doesn't allow all of us to give away our old clothes.. Reason: its hard earned money, cant anyhow give away! FIL literally keeps everything, until it is beyond redemption. In a way, it's good as FIL re-cycles many stuff, good for the environment. But the house is really messy, cluttered... Came from a house with big empty space, I couldnt hide my unpleasant feeling for the first few months. I don't like it when I gotta be sneaky abt clearing old clothes of many years being used for my husband closet, even when I just wanted to give them to charity. Haiz... My new BTO flat is gonna be ready next yr and husband told me he wants to have lots of storage in the flat. I was like "what?? We only have these stuff in this bedroom now. What makes u think we need more storage? Please don't be like your father!!!" we argued about the importance of storage many times.. Only recently when I inspected my SIL's flat carefully to study how she keeps her two daughters's stuff... I realized I really need more storage for future use, not for present time. Cos I am having a 7 months baby.. And it's already difficult to keep all her toys. Haiz.... And after talking to my dearest, we agree to purchase a better looking storage system, so we can enjoy a nice designed home yet clean n tidy, clutter-free. Abt teaching kids to adapt to "minimalist" lifestyle. I agree. I don't like the idea of letting the kids be all messy they like, and the parents have to clear-up after that, just below they are kids. And I don't like to store un-used things.. Either give them to ppl who need them more than us, or have to make full use of them. And saving energy is going to be a very important lesson, not just for the kids, but also for adults.

Looking good... Hm...

Will tell u my feeling abt hdb new flat when I collect my key somewhere in jan/feb 2012 hahahhaa.... Is it too late then? I went to habitat forum @ hdb hub, saw the display model of everything. (I didn't have a choice when I selected my flat during a SOBF). Iin general, not too bad. So will make do with what I am provided. My husband wants to change the MBR design though.. He just hates it. And I will have all the doors painted white. I love white colour better, Heard that the timber door is good quality stuff. So don't anyhow change door at the suggestion of a contractor okie.

When And Where To Start?
piknik replied to Triquetra's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Oh, meanswhile, do note down any valuable info from this forum or any media platform u happen to come across in a notebook. Will come in handy later on. For example: places to get lighting, sanity ware, home appliances,... -
When And Where To Start?
piknik replied to Triquetra's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
I think u first should find out more abt the proposed interior look of the flat first. If it's at punggol or sengkang then find out the forum for ur blk. Then think of a budget u n ur family r comfortable with. Then look @ magazine, website, forum n real houses/ apartments/ flats to get ur interior theme inspiration as well as practical ideas to apply to your future home. Then contact ID/ contractor for a rough quote, n see what they can suggest to u. Find the one that u like the most. Then part with ur hard earn money in exchange for a beautiful n coZy home. Wish u a smooth journey. If it's a bit rocky, can share in a t-blog so ppl can console u... -
Alternative To Kitchen Hood
piknik replied to priyalok's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Personally, I think one should either get the restaurant type of fumes n oil suction hood, or don't bother buying one for household use. I grew up seeing my mom rarely turn the hood on, as she seldom cook oily stuff n she really keep her kitchen clean. So I am not going to use a hood either. -
Great!! Thank you. Have just sent u my email address

Depend on individual. If u look at the choices from hdb, see if u can really live with it, facing it everyday for the next 5-10 yrs. My hubby said it's better to stand sth nice, than to face an ugly object for years. If u r going for a full renovation with an id, why not leave it blank then it's easier to match ur future home theme later on. I have been reAding thru many t-blogs, ppl always love to buy their own tiles n doors.. N sanity wares.. Even hack away the existing one in a brand new flat, just bc they can't stand them when viewing the flat in person.

Halo!!! Nice renovation progress so far! I stay @ blk 28. Could I visit ur flat? I am lookng for someone to renovate my flat currently.. It'd be so great to see a WIP in person. Thank you!!

Congratulation. A journey coming to an end...

Being blur, I thought this house has two kitchens! I cook everyday n I have kid as well, think for being practical, second choice is better.. Definitely the first choice is a dream. Big dream... Can u do ur kitchen in a way that years later u can easy renovate it into the big open concept kitchen?
