  1. Hi May, have told by Andrew that although there is a guideline for platform in hdb flat, we still can go ahead with our platform thing. He said he did many high platform like that already.
  2. After many times my Safari crashed, I hate to type a long post again. Summary of what I have written but being erased: thank you all for good advice, we a kiasu couple have thought of a budget amount (yes, with 20% overrun) and die die will not let it burst. I really hate hdb as they r not good to keep their words. Their motto "a home ready and affordable for everyone" but in the end, ppl with a new premium flat still gotta fork out at least $15k -20k to make it livable. Anyway, I know it's truly weird to have "no money" as part of the thread title yet so many expensive items on our wished list. :sport-smiley-004: My hubby said it is totally fine if we want something nice, as long as we look at our pocket before we purchase it. Oh, and we actually only spend much on kitchen, as we already have existing furnitures to fill in other rooms.
  3. We r all near each other!
  4. Hahaha... hi gimz63251073, no typo.. N now I am so *shy*, feel like my kitchen is too much ha? Yeah, the ping pong table is for fun. The more we think carefully abt it, the more we know it's not really practical. But the idea is good, for ppl who live in small space like us to enjoy a bit of sporty game in the house (no Wii pls).
  5. Installation of hardwood platform on floor -Recommended room height to be minimum of 2.4 metres - The void between timber joists beneath platform must not be sealed with cement/other materials - No storage is allowed within the platform - The side of the platform must be sealed - To maintain a minimum 1 metre safety barrier height from top of platform to window sill/parapet. so no storage platform is allowed????? Like that... :bangwall: :bangwall: :~ :~ Thank you May_dream..... Our dream shattered. Now look for a new solution. But one question: if the "no storage within the platform" is correct, then all of those ppl who installed storage platform in their Room have breached hdb rule???
  6. Found my wall paper @ affordable price: Website: popartuk For bedroom: For bomb shelter door:
  7. Hi May_dream, My hubby's tag line: Don't say compromise! Systemind platformwith two hidden tables for my living room (dont remember exact measurement, abt 3x2m/++) cost 4.5k, with installation. 30cm high. Just right for the window. But this we don't need to worry for now, can slowly save up money to get it later. we choose to have this instead of opting for a cheaper version bc, firstly we respect the patent that Design Tray has, secondly, hubby loves the solid wood material (I jumped on it n no quek sound was created, good quality) n the storage option, thirdly, can move the whole platform to new place in the future. we are not getting any sofa or tv console/ feature wall as well as TVs so money can be saved for this. We r with budget but we dont want to sacrifice the quality. That is why the "expensive stuff" r in our Reno brief.. Haha.. But not all are to be purchased or get done immediately. We will get kitchen first, plumbing n piping works, then electrical works. The rest is to be done slowly later after we move in. What makes the house look nice in the end are the furnitures, and little stuff we use in the house, and these can be done at our own pace. Hoffen kitchen is at $900 per meter for bottom cabinets. With my kitchen size, I can totally afford to get L-shaped bottom cabinet from hoffen n the cost will be jut a bit higher than a normal customized kitchen cabinets. And I think it can last me for quite long. since I cook daily, hubby n I agree to get a good kitchen. At my sister in law's place, she had done an expensive renovation abt 7-8 yrs ago. And her kitchen was in bad shape after just a few years of barely using... Why? Bad quality in the first place. She just spent another big amount to re-do the kitchen. To me, not a good quality carpentry work again. Waste of money. At my current place, father in law spent big money on his kitchen n it still works well until now, after close to 10 yrs. just that arrangement for drawers n cabinets r bad. I learn a lot from looking at these two kitchens. Oh yeah, the ping pong table door will be KIV as we foresee a few problems using it.
  8. Thanks for your reply. I am looking for a top-load washing machine right now. At my parents' place, hitachi brand is preferred. So I only know Hitachi is good. Then I was introduced to Sharp, you must have noticed a round top-load washer when you shopped around right? they said its good as its a 3 sticks kind, water efficient. Then met a young salesperson and he said, no need to keep thinking of the water efficient bc sometime later in 2012, all companies will start to have their top-load washer tested n approved by NEA for water efficient. Before this year, they never bother to try and Sharp was the only company went for the test. So just pick one that fits my budget is good enough. don't know if this is true, but I kind of wanted to believe the salesperson. Hahaha... And he recommended Panasonic. Hahahah. Wish you a smooth reno.
  9. I love the final look with furnitures. very bright n clean..... Lots of cleaning daily? R all your bedroom doors white in the first place or you had them painted white? Uhm.... So 9Lives CS sucks... Hem.. How much is your kitchen carpentry work? Heard of Hoffen kitchen ever? I am considering of getting one.
  10. U have a hitachi top load washer? Congratulation on the start of ur reno. Wish you a smoothing experience.
  11. I love the pink n white kitchen as well. Really cool... Your husband ok with it? Your rinnai dryer uses gas right? How much was it?
  12. Thanks for the info. Another question: your kitchen cabinet has no base n there is lighting from underneath. You decided that way? Why?
  13. Really live the dining wallpaper. Make the space POP. Which company did your renovation? How was the experience?
  14. Cjred, you should write a review of your ID already!!!
  15. Wah, I love the cool but expensive pool table cum dining table.. Hahahah. Must not show this to my husband.
  16. Oh Simon, can u take a detailed photo of the master toilet vanity cabinet? You do have dark color cabinet below the hdb-weird vanity top right?
  17. Those table wares n kitchen wares surely cost a lot in the end! Haiz... Haiz... Haiz... Even when I only spend money on the most essential items, the list just "suddenly" gets longer.
  18. Thanks for ur comment. We are trying hard to let money work for us. Hopefully the final look is a OK one, not rojak-like. Hix... Try loh.. Then write a review okie, All these things u will get one contractor to do for you? You also dislike the original look of the master toilet hah? So are you having a renovation now?
  19. Look the cost: scary........ I really don't want to part with such a big amount of money.. Why so expensive?
  20. My husband did all these using floor-planner. Top view: 3D view: If you notice, there is no tv in the house. We 'll probably get a projector for movies, and use our iMac as tv. All these will be kept in the study/ guest room. It's bc the baby can't watch any tv until she is 4-5 yrs old. And I think our guests won't be bored without a tv in the living room, As their purpose to visit s is to talk to us, not to watch tv right?
  21. Nice result overall. I love the simplicity.
  22. Hallo rocksteady, how do you intend to renovate your place? Hi potatoes, thanks for visiting this blog. I have read your own blog but yet to say hi over there. I did check the taobao lighting section. Price seems really cheap! But my husband doesn't like the idea. Hahaha... We will try with local shops n probably get simple lights n lamps only.
  23. I love ur gate? Can you share the cost n the company who did it?
