Sorry if I Scared you. My parents' kitchen has a granite countertop.. Been there for 15 yrs already. My mom (who spends most of her time in the kitchen (cum dining room) is currently healthy. No sign of lung cancer. Health checked annually. I believe these days, in this fast food generation, only if you look closely then you realize everything we use daily can cause cancer.. We all die eventually anyway. None dies in The way one wants to plan.. Hahhaha..

Granite Emitting Radiation New information about possible hazards of granite and stone countertops. Recent article in NYT told of countertops of granite emmiting unacceptable levels of radiation. "Allegations that granite countertops may emit dangerous levels of radon and radiation have been raised periodically over the past decade, mostly by makers and distributors of competing countertop materials. The Marble Institute of America has said such claims are “ludicrous” because although granite is known to contain uranium and other radioactive materials like thorium and potassium, the amounts in countertops are not enough to pose a health threat. Health physicists and radiation experts agree that most granite countertops emit radiation and radon at extremely low levels. They say these emissions are insignificant compared with so-called background radiation that is constantly raining down from outer space or seeping up from the earth’s crust, not to mention emanating from manmade sources like X-rays, luminous watches and smoke detectors. But with increasing regularity in recent months, the Environmental Protection Agency has been receiving calls from radon inspectors as well as from concerned homeowners about granite countertops with radiation measurements several times above background levels. “We’ve been hearing from people all over the country concerned about high readings,” said Lou Witt, a program analyst with the agency’s Indoor Environments Division. The E.P.A. recommends taking action if radon gas levels in the home exceeds 4 picocuries per liter of air (a measure of radioactive emission); about the same risk for cancer as smoking a half a pack of cigarettes per day." Something to consider when chosing a counter top material... Credit : Home Memory

Please share pictures of aircon installation. Thanks. I am asking direct distributors of those brands to know the price range. So I can see if contractors charge reasonable or not.

I have thought abt the need of aircon in living room, but after visiting my new flat a few times in the afternoon, I feel that it is safe to not installing aircon. Wind is just breezy, as there is a block in front of mine.. Not too windy, not too hot. Don't know abt the extreme hot period yet. I assume my husband will spend money on a dyson fan somewhere in the far future (haha), and he is also eyeing a very vintage yet industrial floor fan... So my guests will not be sweaty spending time talking to us at our place. Pray pray.. The thing abt living in Singapore is that, one should always be conscious abt water usage. But so often I see people waste water as if it's a dirt cheap thing on earth. How I wish such people experience the life without water supply in some other countries. Said that, I will make sure if I ever have a rain shower in my house, my hubby will not abuse it.

Thanks. Got it.

Spending a good time to just upload some most important photos that you previously uploaded to photobucket to FLICKR. And use FLickr for your new photos lah.. To get the final jpeg link from Flickr, I set the photo under public viewing, do around 3-4 clicks on a few buttons... Seems very slow but I find it easy to understand n navigate. Don't waste money.

Adidaem, when I saw your nick in my blog, I automatically assumed you would have some interior suggestion. Hahhaha... I only need aircon for the bedrooms, and they r tiny... So 9000btu is enough. Punggol Breeze is Very breezy, so we don't need aircon for the living room. Intend to get a few industrial floor fans to use when guests come.

Hansgrohe product is very ex... But I remember seeing one shower head in sunny yellow (also in light pink n red) and my hubby insisted to have that sunny yellow one. Price as told: $140. Haven't bought it yet. Cos haven't found contractor or visited city gas. I will tell my husband abt the "rain dance" set. Bathing is one of a few good leisure in life. Submerge oneself in the warm water, feeling relax n soothing... I still remember the last time I was playing under the rain.. Very addictive. Rain drops poured down nonstop, washing away all the problems and you were just part of nature.. But again, my complain: my bath time right now must be less than 10 mins. I am waiting patiently for the day that I could slowly enjoy myself during a bath.

Congratulation! Such a spacious place.

I was quoted 3.3k for Mitsubishi inverter system 3, 3x9btu. No bracket needed. Copper pipe, class O insulation pipe.. Heard its good stuff one but I can't remember exact details. I still feel that quote is very expensive. Some more, I never heard of the company name before. GSN aircon? Something like that.. Still asking around for aircon quote.

My husband wants the grohe bathroom set, can't remember if it comes with rain shower. But we intended to go for city gas water heater so dont know if it's wise to buy the rain shower thing. We stay at 8th floor, I am afraid of the low pressure for water. Haven't found time to visit city gas showroom yet. Since I was pregnant with my daughter until now, I haven't gone to orchard area yet.

At my current place, the neighbor installed the CCTV outside of his door and right in front of my main door. My whole family never feel offended leh... We instead benefit from it, feeling safe. As it is facing the corridor, not facing us.. (corner unit). At my new place @ punggol, it's quite quiet. I assume most of my neighbor will be young couple and most will work full time. The whole floor has just 4 units, mine tuck at a corner, quite private. I feel safer with a CCTV, hearing abt cases of breaking-in @ punggol. If I install it indoor, it will not have the crime prevention effect. I think I still have to inform my future neighbors abt the CCTV before installation. But 1k is expensive.........

Hobz brand also has the lifetime warranty for the glass on the hob.

Thank you.... I saw the picture. I think this is not for outdoor installation leh.... Not weather-proof right? What my neighbor has is this type: link

My much-hated bathroom vanity top (excuse the bags) How I wish its color is as light as in the picture. In reality, it's the grey of this below photo's background: credit: Flickr Of course I was over exaggerating abt the cost of beautifying the master bathroom. "shy". I consider using a simple sink and a cheap solid surface top, with a small top cabinet at the corner, and a big mirror. Saw "Hollywood" styled lighting @ ikea n one contractor suggested a hidden light below n on top of the mirror. But I dislike both ideas. To me, it's not practical... Too bright for my eyes or just not enough light.. Budget for this bathroom: less than 1K? (include cost of removing the vanity top n touch up)

Where is this lighting shop? Look like they have many nice lightings there. I am very interested...

Dear Ipineaple, Pls read this to understand better abt solid MDF. My information might not be very accurate as i collected from Internet only, no real life case that i know of to prove so far. Thus my question in this forum for better understand. But until now, no one replies. I think what I want for my kitchen might be what u just describe, may_dream.
