No, no. This pump is only about 1 foot tall. It is a submersible pump. It must be in the water, or at least the bottom part which sucks in the water must be in the water. I do not bother to hide my pump. If you look at my pond picture above, it is at the top left corner of the pond, inside the pond. Look at post #289 http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/62505-top-kew-drive/?p=845654 Initially, I had a cage (made of those black plastic planter base) over the pump to hide it and to prevent the pump from sucking in fishes. But ended up the small fishes keep getting trapped in the holes in the cage. So, I just removed the entire cage. The fishes do not seem to be bothered by the pump.- 686 replies

Noted with thanks. By chance, I just saw received a junk mail in my mailbox that caught my attention. Check out their website and read "About Us". http://www.fengshuiorganizers.com/

Noted. I guess in this case, you forgot to put the most important advice. If you are not prepared to do most of what the FSM might tell you to do, then it is better that you do not consult him in the first place.
-
Just curious. Is it ok / common to consult FSM but decide not to implement some of the things he advise? Did I read correctly that he advised some lights to be switched on 24 x 7 and some doors sealed close when there are people?

I have always wanted to ask but too shy to ask. But since you are just starting, I ask you. What is Scandinavian theme? I think almost 1 in 2 homes here are aiming for the scandi look or theme. But is that supposed to be minimalist, simplicity, functionality, natural, wooden, modern or a mixture?

Ikea also sells sofas with removeable and washable covers. You can also change the covers.

Maybe poor installation or servicing or simply too old? You sure they are ME and not MHi?

Your sticker will hopefully prevent people rrom accidentally walking into the glass but if people still blur blur walk into the glass, it wil not help. Normal Glass - will break into big pieces which can be very dangerous as they make deep cuts Tempered Glass - supposed to be less easy to break. When break, it will shatter into many, many small pieces. Can still cut but superficial and not deep Shatter-Proof - normally tempered glass with laminate in between or on one side. Will hold the pieces when the glass breaks Tempered Glass will have a logo. -
One advantage of electrric heater is no gas piping and the unit is usually sleeker and nicer looking.

I am currently using Mitsubishi Electric and I find it good. Easy to clean too. My experience here: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/62505-top-kew-drive/?p=833725 Please note that Mitsubishi Electric and Mitshubishi Heavy Industries are two different air-con companies.

I hope your doorbell has at least one simple ding-dong option. I hate those that give you a lot of options for sound, but everyone is a piece of music that must be played from start to end. For me, I still prefer the simple loud and clear ding-dong, not Mary had a little lamb, mary had a little lamp, mary had a little lamp .................................................................................. -
It is true that for most people, the tub is a white elephant. But I still think that if you have the space, it is good to have one tub for several reasons. Firstly, if you have young children, they will love it. They can use it during bath time. Secondly, quite a number of people now use the tub for spa and health purposes (they put some kind of machine in the tub). You never know when you might want a tub. Thirdly, when you sell your property, this might be useful. Instead of installing a tub with cement around it, you can also buy one of those self standing tubs. They come in different sizes, some with jacuzzi. I am currently using one. See here. These take up less space, since they are compact. You will need to run hot and cold water supply to the tub, plus drainage outlet. Plus power point if you have jacuzzi.

I am afraid I have no idea which you should get. But I was under the impression that legrand is more expensive than Schneider. So I guess I was mistaken.
-
Just to give my feedback on Schneider and legrand. At my previous place, I used Schneider. I like the solid feel and the "click click" sound when I switch on/off. But sometimes, the switch quite hard to press. Now, I am using legrand. Looks nicer but I miss the "click click" sound. Soft feel, don't feel solid. Sometimes, so soft that there seems to be no clicking at all. One more thing. For legrand power sockets, I find the on/off switch too close to the plug holes. After I put in my multi-plug, I cannot reach the on/off switch. Very irritating.

If you are buying from overseas, make sure you get the correct voltage.

What is the ICI paint model you used? Both ICI and Nippon have cheaper equivalents for the colour you choose. Did you take a picture of the paint cans? http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/62505-top-kew-drive/?p=824179

One of my koi pond pumps failed. It is the second pump i have changed. The first lasted 10 months. This one lasted 8 months. The pumps only come with 6 month warranty, so I am out of luck. Both my pumps were from AFEC (All Favor Enterprise Co Ltd) from Taiwan. But I think pumps that cannot even last one year are quite hopeless. My pond contractor suggest to change to Japanese pump but he quoted $880. So I decided to DIY. Went to Mainland Tropical Fish Farm and bought a Made in Japan Tsurumi OM3 submersible pump for only $250. In order to connect to existing pumping, I had to purchase some PVC connectors. Cost $6 more. Total $256. Pump seems to be working fine. According to what I read,Tsurumi (pronounced soo-roo-mee) was established in 1924 and is one of the world's most experienced pump manufacturers, with a huge range of submersible dewatering & effluent pumps, & waste water treatment equipment. Tsurumi's Kyoto Plant is the world's most modern submersible pump manufacturing plant with a total manufacturing capability of 1 million units per year. Let's hope this unit lasts.- 686 replies

Strictly speaking, the gate installation is incorrect. As a security barrier, it fails. A security barrier should be flush with the side walls (not protruding out) and secured on all 4 sides. In this case, the bottom side is not secured, allowing a person with brute force to start prising open the gate from this side. However, it is common for gates these days to serve more as a deterrent device only and even for decorative purpose. It is common for the bottom latch not to be used. Often this is because the bottom is laid with marble or tiles, and the contractor does not want (or does not know how) to dig a hole to house the drop down bolt. In addition, the gate is not flush with the side walls, so there is no way to bolt the bottom side of the gate. I think if the gate looks ok, you can live with it. I think the only way to rectify it is to move it inwards, and this might be problematic.

My built-in oven is also "slotted" into the hole in the cabinets. It is not screwed to the frame and can be pulled out. But is is heavy and so not easily pulled out. I think it is fine to install the oven this way. When you need to repair the oven or change anything, you can easily access the back of the oven. And yes, better avoid taking the oven in/out. I did that once to try and see the serial number (to put in my warranty registration) and cracked the beautiful glass surface of the cabinet door. And the worst part, the serial number was right on the edge of the door. No need to pull out the oven.

Termites can spread. In my previous place, they attacked three different places, entrance shoe cupboard, yard cabinet, and toilet cabinet on a different floor. You can try to see if you can contain the problem by following this method: http://jrguild.hubpages.com/hub/How-to-treat-home-for-dry-wood-termites If you fail, you might have no choice but to change the cabinets. If you succeed, good for you.

Just a clarification in case misunderstand. 5 helpers - not true at all.

I believe that if you build something, you should use it. Otherwise no point building it in the first place. Just like in the past, people used to wrap up their new car seats with car covers. Never get to sit on the actual car seat. Only regret at time of selling or scrapping car. For me, the choices will be: If only two of us, no kids no helper, just use master bedroom toilet. The common toilet don't use the shower. Can use the WC and washbasin if needed. If two of us plus helper, use either. If two of us plus kids, we use master bedroom toilet, the kids use the common toilet. If two of us plus kids plus parents plus siblings etc., please refer to ahhboi's post.

The Ikea tool set is good as it has most of the basic tools: hammer with claw, screwdrive with changeable tips, pliers, adjustable wrench. You can buy most of these or in bigger sizes in the hardware stores but most likely they are purchased separately and not all in one box. Re-chargeable power drills - I am not sure but I don't think powerful enough for concrete walls. Anyway, they may not last as long. Leveler - someone used iphone to hang a painting and complained to me it was slanted. I said maybe the app was calibrated or the iphone case side was not even.
