  1. Just changed my surround speakers and re-did their position for a better home theatre experience: http://peteswrite.blogspot.com/2012/03/change-of-surround-speakers.html About $850 before GST... from Precision Audio...
  2. It's here... I bought this off UK amazon, but the cost is similar to the prices locally, at Robinsons etc. There is a shop carrying this in Holland Village, but it's the 1 litre version. This is the 1.6l one.
  3. Nope... Dulux paint, good job. Best to leave it to the pros in case you are considering a DIY. IMO, unless you are really on a tight budget, time and effort are worth rewarding. Get a pro.
  4. Getting the back board painted is a matter of timing... The IKEA guy delivers the bookcases, and installs the other stuff, and my workers quickly paint it... the IKEA people won't paint it obviously and they are the best people to install the stuff... But even my contractor liked it
  5. Buy the biggest and best TV you can afford. You will be looking at it for a long time... if you regret it, it won't spoil and you can't refund or upsize easily. I paid 8k for my 50" Pioneer a while back, no regrets.
  6. I have posted... see the price thread for the most popular models, and see what is in your budget range... eg the current Panasonic ST 30 55" is on offer and under 2500...
  7. You need to read the tips page la... Budget? Size??
  8. Thumbs up for all your posts. It will certainly be handy for my future works. Cheers
  9. I had a IIx, Emac, LC III, Centris, and many more... all of them were working, and I recently cleared out most of them... but I kept this one, which I refurbished and is still working.
  10. My Mac SE... one of the first models with a 3 1/4" drive + a 40 MB HDD - which was totally radical at that time... And Mr Moo...
  11. Just sharing a post I made about choosing a TV: 1 - have a budget, and use this link to see what are the actual prices others have paid: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/house-displays-226/please-post-your-purchase-prices-here-thread-2183485.html#post65013321 Then see the stickies in Hardwarezone, on LCD vs Plasma Vs LED for the pros and cons of each technology. Places to buy: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/house-displays-226/places-buy-flatscreen-panels-projectors-etc-discussion-thread-1942789.html Other useful info are kept here: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/house-displays-226/tips-info-when-buying-new-tv-read-thread-before-you-buy-tv-2363747.html Remember, you need to filter through all the marketing noise and the sales talk, then understand what type of stuff you watch: SD = standard definition like free to air TV, or DVDs HD = high definition, like Blu Ray Then see which are the popular models and choose from there based on your budget. I personally prefer plasmas for their picture quality and energy consumption is secondary to PQ. I seldom watch TV, and the lowest quality I go is for DVDs for old movies, but Blu Ray discs form the majority of my viewing diet.
  12. IMHO You are not maximizing your HT setup... Your front speakers are jammed into a corner, near the side and rear wall... Bare floors give a lot of reflection of sound and so do the walls.. I guess you need to have a balance of acoustics and aesthetics, otherwise there are cheaper options than those Q Acoustic speakers... And their subwoofer isn't the tightest. Better to move it out slightly and place it on an isolation platform... The centre speaker should come to the edge of your console and use rubber door stoppers to dampen vibrations and allow it to point at your ear level when you are seated.. Cheers.
  13. IMHO, a lighter theme for your living room will better and you need a much bigger tv... You should sit at a distance around three times the diagonal width of your screen... Look up viewing distances for tvs as a guide...
  14. Thanks, just waiting for the last piece in my home theatre puzzle - my 64" plasma tv! The new E8000 range should be out soon... Why plasma some may ask, see the discussion in hardware zone for more info...
  15. BTW, I saw some threads of faux brick walls, anyone can share some tips on where to get them, and how much would it cost to cover a 2.5m by 3m section? Thought of doing it in a white finish...
