Is The Price Reasonable For Carpentry Work - Dressing Table
renoseeker replied to Wymark's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Hi, The prices you get are fair. Suspended dressing table is around $120 to $130 pfr. Since yours is around 4 feet, $130 X 4 = $520. So I don't think you got "carroted". -
Hi, Actually, if you want to include the time value of money, then you will need to care about the interest rates and the inflation rates. And if you want to look at opportunity costs, then you would need to use a basic monte carlo simulation.... Just my two cents worth, but I think the rental yield in the newspapers and the ROI displayed there are not including time value of money or opportunity costs. Like you said, they are just simple stuff like: ROI = (Gains – Cost)/Cost I agree with the marketing gimmick comment entirely.

I am not porkypig but I hope this helps.... 1) There are two hinges for a door. Look at the picture below. The soft close mechanism is in the centre, I believe. So, you need 2 hinges and 1 mechanism to make the whole unit. Then, count how many whole units you need, and the ratio of hinges to mechanism is 2:1 2) Like what Obama says: Yes, You Can! Got money anything also can. If I am wrong, feel free to correct me...I humbly accept

$90 should be ok...but still can lower a bit. I actually have a list of cost price / selling price of an ID firm because the guy sent me through email by mistake. He's supposed to send me the quote, but end up send me his cost list. I don't think I can share the list though, cause I don't want trouble or get sued for espionage...

The gas meter needs to be moved? Is the fees also included in the price or need to pay extra? -
Buying Recess Area
renoseeker replied to pinkpetter's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
How long does HDB take to repond to the purchase of recess area? Depends...can range from a few weeks to months Do they send a letter to tell you whether it is approved? Yes Do I need to call them? Better call and call to ensure fast proceeding. You know how government officials work right? -
Haha, that's interesting. Maybe you can just take the seat as a sample from the sales guy and try at home?

Hdb: Possible To Do A Mezzanine Floor?
renoseeker replied to binka's topic in Living, Dining & Storage
You need to call up your HDB branch office to be sure. -
Go for the established brands la. Not worth taking the risk with a brand that may spoil easily

can share the contact with me as well?

Actually, I am just curious...how do you actually go about rating them? What does 8.7/10 mean? There must be some type of objective measurement....or did you just rate this according to your own standard?

Darwin Interior
renoseeker replied to veroni's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Hi guys, Not to defend the ID too much, but they are also human. Renovations is a very nitty gritty thing by its nature. Don't expect everything to be smooth smooth. There will sure be crap along the way. I think the important fact to see if the ID is sincere about the job or not. Got mistakes or defects, I can forgive as long as they rectify without extra cost to me...but if the guy got attitude problem, even if workmanship is ok, that's when I would blow up. I am not from darwin or whatever. Just some of my thoughts on the issue -

Hi, you might be interested in the formula here http://smartpropertybuyer.blogspot.com/2008/02/how-to-calculate-rental-yield.html

Agreed totally

Possible. But you need to know how to do it. And also the equipment. How to do: What pattern to lay the tiles, the type of adhesive to paste the tiles, how to put the grout etc You would also probably need a tile cutter machine, because chances are that your floor will not be exactly the dimensions of the tiles. In other words, you need to cut the tiles so that your whole room is covered, included the corners.
