don't bother with expo or exhibition sales.....I have been to a lot and i realized that most of these 'deals' does not really save you a lot.....I have also noticed quite a number of 'complained' companies that frequent these expo sales are lot...ironically, not many of the stronger brands take part in it.... frankly it might be worth paying visits to the shops directly as i believe they are less incline to 'force' you to buy....

Such A Pain To Shop For Led Down Lights?!
folwer replied to Erwinong's topic in Electronics & Electricals
i got it from deal extreme.com .....QC bad, and I think the timing during holiday session usually quite bad.... but the price that you get at, i can afford to have 50% spoilt and still way cheaper then shops..... -
best time to get ikea furniture is moving house that time....the movers will normally have to dismental your existing furniture when you move...so at the end destination, just ask them nicely to fix one or 2 items that you have brought for you - then no assembly fees.....

Such A Pain To Shop For Led Down Lights?!
folwer replied to Erwinong's topic in Electronics & Electricals
me....1 out of 17 spoilt.....i brought online with shipping and stuff is still very cheap, about US$13 per piece. They do have customer service to allow you to ship back.....but at this price, it's not worth... The problem of buying from china is that when the shipped to you, quality might be different in every batch. the packaging is also quite crappy and you can only depends on the technical specs that they listed out. The reason why i purchase oversea instead of here is that the shops around here have limited selection and most of them have not work with the technology enough to know what they are talking about....as a business, if i don't have the know how or source for LED lights, I'll definitely push for something that I have, that is why I find most shop will push their PLC lights and claim that LED is not as bring - cause they might not even have seen those CREE based on in action.... For your info. Lot of shop has various lights components all made in china, for example PLC, ballast, fixure....etc...so unless you know your stuff, you are likely to get a light set from the shop that is something like 70%-80% brand less stuff....only the PLC might be from Philips (if you insist...) -
I think it's call Kwan yin....or something like that....anyway there is only 1 glass shop around there.....
-
I would say very little are cheats la....they are just incompetent .... Most don't know how to treat customer right, adopt business model for short term gain, select the wrong suppliers etc..... Cheats are people who will take the downpayment and run, or show you 1 thing but deliver another...

There is a shop at kalantan lane near sim lim tower. Can't miss it because lots of people use them. Just make sure you stay around and wait for the glass because he tends to forget what he was doing....

Guys, I receive and email says Marquis qsquare have 50% to 70% sales....starts today for 2 days..... Don't know how to attach the promo email here...but they never say need to print out anything... So if you have a little more budget, might be your chance to get a good quality sofa at a great deal.....already gotten mine at the last sale, so wouldn't be there......
-
Guys, how do I send interlock a pm? Need to ask him if the locks in the group buy satisfy the above requirement
-
Yeap, kong Ying at kelantan lane......very friendly and cheap....

I think you have to take firmer action then to write in this forum.....sad to say, but I think most people buying sofa will just walk around and at the sight of what they want, buy it. This forumn only have a tiny percentage of people looking for furniture. I recent took a walk in graciousc living fair at expo.....a signifiant portions are occupied by shops having bad reps in this forum, but I can see most of them doing roaring trade....if this forum has made any impact, those shops would have shut down a long time ago...

Atrocious After Sales Service From Bosch - Beware!
folwer replied to lachesis's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Hi you sure able that? from what I read, the poster is having some after sales services from Bosch. What I'm seeing is that while they are a little screw up in the after sale tracking department, it does seems that they are trying their best to make good on the warranty. they eventually even shipped the parts by DHL after recognizing the poster's frustration. Not many companies will go up to that extend in serving their customer..... -
Simple Renovation
folwer replied to doran_lum's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
not neecesaary to source for ID....most of them are contractors anyway, just trying to position themselves as ID..... might want to choose a main con as it will be a lot of hassle to deal with so many contractors and manage the timeline and dependancy.... -
I would also like to join if there is a biometrics lock that does have a handle and not rim lock kind.....
-
I think USD$13 each....free shipping some more....but with cheap stuff, I do expect a bit of deflects, even though the supplier will refund those, but due to the price, i let it pass, I have basically 1 faulty out of the 17 units that i have..... yeap, driver is built in to the LED bulb....for CREE lights, most implementation is to overdrive the LED which is what I don't like, you will have to depend a lot on the quality of the heatsink and driver to ensure that it can handle the extra load. The reason why i choose that setup is that with so many LED and the entire setup consuming only 6W, I think they are not overdriving the lights (of course i might be wrong)....so while not achieving 100% of its potential, it's still quite bright and I guess will last longer then a overdriven LED.....

Yea, I got from oversea...I ordered one first test t out for months before I ordered the rest.... I suspect you can find them in sim lim towers as one or 2 shops got sell the components for the parts....These are call Cree led, quite new tech compared to traditional led, but I think it's gaining traction, so maybe a few years down the road, it will become common. I don't know the bill the electrian charge me as it's hidden under the electric works under my main con.... but I think it should not cost much as connectors for e27 is quite cheap....the rest is just taking out the ballast and the old connectors.
-
Yeap, that is why after my experience, I decide to only go for company that has been around for at least 5 years....reputation of the company via their track record over the years is a much safer bet then any promises made....
-
at least you got a means of seeking help....better then my sofa purchase 2 years back......after 1.5 years, shop (not EL) no longer around, so can't even get my peeling sofa fixed....now i only go for companies with good track records.....

There is a lot of LED bulbs in the market. The one that is commonly available now in Singapore looks something like thing... or these although marketed as super bright LED are really not a bright as those CREE LED. Look at the picture here... you will notice those CREE LED are flatter and have a yellow backing. If turn on, your eyes typically get hurts if you look at it.... for me, i super KS and got myself something like this: and I got the electrician to modify my currently PLC light holder like this to remove it's ballast and holder and swap with a e27 light holder. The good thing is that if the LED bulb does not work out, i can also switch back to those PLC with E27 holder.... the modified light set is about 70-80% of the original set, but consider that the original was powered a 2x18w PLC and this is just 1 LED 6w bulb....its a huge saving in electricity.... Do source around, because like PLC, not all LED is made equal.....

Our toothpaste has fluoride and I think it will help in fighting tooth decay...but I dont think you brush your dog's teeth.... In fact, from what my friends is telling me, in the states people are beginning to question if fluoride is harmfull to the body. Here is an interest link http://fluoridedangers.blogspot.com/2006/01/fluoride-harmful.html, Of cousre I m not in the medical industry, so can't comment much, but personally, I would rather to keep fluoride for brushing teeth and out of my tummy....

There is always some promotion going on...those high end ones will have much less, but most mass market or slightly premium ones will always have it in on form or the other since I started looking in June, there was never really any month pass by without any promotions!. In fact, I suspect these so call promotion are just really promoting thier products rather then a real price discount.... You shuould time your purchase according to your needs and not promotions....
-
You can also have problem with plc lights....got 1 time I even have one from Phillips that blew after 6 months....
-
Let me know if you find one.....those are I called all says they have to take the sofa back for measurement.....end up transport quite expensive

Possible For Led Downlights To Cost $110-120?
folwer replied to Erwinong's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Mine is the normal square down light similar to the one shown below http://www.sembawanglightinghouse.com/products/DD219.html He only remove the plc balast and change the head to e27....this is quite a standard screw in ligh bulb interface so I can switch back to plc with e27 if I want. Using only half a year, so far ok.... Actually if you are a little handy with tool, you can modify yourself....but for me wife don't trust my skills.... -
If it is a standardize model, you might want to go back to the shop and ask. For us, we usually will order extra set made when we order our customize sofa....
