  1. We ordered the Pleon 9, Anthracite for our home. Can't wait to see it when reno completes. It looked and felt good at the store.
  2. If you're interested, i just posted the below in Renotalk's Garage Sales and Market Place. I ordered our leather sofa from Lorenzo because of recommendations on Renotalk, but my husband decided he wanted something else, thats why I posted the below (I copy and pasted from the actual post): So my husband and I ordered a Lorenzo premium leather sofa on impulse (when you have two young boys running all over the shop, that tends to happen) and have now decided that it doesn't really fit into our home design (brain fart on our part). Lorenzo doesn't accept cancellations (just our luck!) and have given us three options: 1. Continue with the sale (transfer ownership) with option to change sofa configuration or colour. (L-Shaped Premium Leather Sofa) 2. Store credit for the amount. Buy anything from Lorenzo which comes up to the cost of the sofa OR; 3. They'll give us cash vouchers (valid for a year) amounting to the cost of the sofa. As said earlier, Lorenzo doesn't fit in our home design, so if you or anyone you know are looking to purchase anything from Lorenzo and save some money, choose any of the options above and drop me a line. Consider it a late 'GSS Sale'. The amount in question is $2379.00. We're selling it at $150 (neg) off that price. So spend up to $2379.00 at Lorenzo for $2229.00. A bargain for anyone planning to buy from Lorenzo either ways. If there are interested parties who only want $1k+ instead of the whole $2k, we could split it too. Happy house hunting and renovations to all of you. (We're going through our reno now too, so hopefully once all this running around has slowed down, I'll do a T-blog, cause I love reading everyone else's.) Cheers!
  3. If you do end up choosing leather, I just posted in the Garage Sales section selling my Lorenzo order (bought on impulse and now doesn't fit in my home design). Here's the link: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/61807-wts-lorenzo-sofacash-vouchers/ As for your question, in my previous home we had a fabric sofa for the first few years but we also had two dogs who peed all over it and we ended up throwing it out and ended up buying a leather one (display set) which lasted us a good few years until we moved out recently. Our leather sofa took plenty of abuse from the dogs and our two sons, was easy to clean and got more comfy with age. We donated the sofa to my sister in law when we moved out because she also had dogs and had to throw out her fabric sofa. Now that we dont have the dogs anymore, we're considering getting a fabric one again for a change, and cause leather doesn't fit in our design. So hope that helps!
  4. Hi, I know this is an old blog but was really hoping to get your ID Henry's contact, if you'd be so kind. Thank you!
  5. I recently got Mr. K's contact from a fellow forumer (thanks!) but was told he only speaks Chinese and some Malay. I'm horrible at both. Would simple English and tons of pictures suffice to get my message across? I love his work. Oh and how much more expensive is he? 20%? Sorry for the hijacking...
  6. Hi there, been perusing the forums (havent been active since my first reno in 2007) for a year now in hopes of finding a contractor for my newly purchased resale condo and Mr. K sounds wonderful. Could you please share this wonderful man? Am not sure how PM works yet but my email address is damelza.harris@gmail.com. Your new home looks like its coming along superbly. The contractors I used for my first home wasn't so great so am proceeding cautiously this time. Thank you.
  7. You can visit their website www.hauhauparquet.com. When you call them, look for Susan she'll advise what's best for your home so bring your floor plan! The "layer" they recommended was Mr. Gan and his workmanship is great. The guys who lay the wood will actually tell you which pattern is best to make your house look bigger so you might want to ask them for their opinion unless you have something specific in mind. The Job Hut

Hi Everyone, I'm a freelance headhunter and I usually have an updated list of job vacancies to fill. You can visit my website to see the job listings and see if there's a job there that you're interested in. Happy Hunting! http://asia.groups.yahoo.com/group/ejobhut/ Cheers
  9. Hi Wayne, I didn't ask my contractor to do it cause it was too expensive. Instead, I went directly to a teak manufacturer and they have their own recommended layers. So I cut out the middle man and paid direct prices. I then liaised with my contractor with regards to the renovation process so that there wouldn't be any hassles. Hope that helps you!
  10. You can check out my link below for photos of my parquet flooring. It was only just installed so it hasn't been sanded or varnished yet.
  11. Hi Wayne, I just did parquet flooring for my whole house. Three bedrooms and living/dining. The breakdown: Teak Parquet 12mm x 2" x 12" 835sft @ $2.30 = $1920 Teak skirting 11mm x 70mm 185 pfr @ $1.20 = $222 Wood glue @ 20kg 6 ctn @ $39.50 = $237.00 GST = $118.98 Installation: To lay, grind & varnish 835 sft @ $1.20 = $1002 To install & varnish of skirting 70mm 185 pfr @ $0.40 = $74 Total cost: $3574.48 But after the guy came to measure the house, the total price dropped to $2808.28. The workmanship is great and I love it! You can check out my link in my signature for pictures of my renovations. 12. Hi Gothique, I'm doing the same for my tiny HDB master bathroom. I have a tub, rain shower and a shower screen. I got this idea when I was in France and a friend of mine had this in his apartment. And no, unless you're a real splasher, the water doesn't get out. That's why its called a SCREEN. It keeps your wet and dry area separate. I'd love to show you a picture but my bathroom is only halfway done. Might have a pic for you next week hopefully. I had my tub and floors done in white pebblewash to counter HDB's awful tiling work! Hope this helps in your decision!
