  1. That is a pretty good idea...... Should just ask one of your friends or ppl whom you know in the construction industry to do it for you. Preferably those in clerk of work, M&E project management or facilities management, even estate management. Most of them have good experience in managing projects and should be able to spot problems for you. I have many friends in this industry which is also a reason that I am considering to convince some of them to manage my home reno for me... of course for a token fee agreed mutually.....X my fingers.... wish u luck in finding the right one to do the check for you.
  2. This info is really useful. thank u so much
  3. Looking into LED lights too for my new flat...and really hoping to make my home an environmental friendly one...went sim lim and price there is ok/reasonable at about $20 per meter..and according to shop attendent, it does not generate any heat as it it DC operated..quite impressed and almost going to confirm with them but luckily I did not. Just attended a housewarming ... and saw the LED strip lights used in my friend's place too, they place it below kitchen cabinet and in their master bedroom.... very impressive.......managed to get the contact of the supplier(hurray)...... Spoke to the contractor and understand they have the different types of waterproofing IP code depending on where I am going to place it. Every LED strip needs a power adapter/transformer... and some has RGB type like mood lights. Confused with so many different types.... anyway ask for a quotation and this is what he quoted me and please share if this is reasonable price. 5M LED strip light warm white c/w power supply/ transformer & 3M double side tape but not water proof type $60 5M LED strip RGB c/w power supply, remote controller & 3M double side tape but not waterproof type $90 Not inclusive of installation... cos he said the electrical contractor just need to link the power cable and it will work already... just need to lay the LED strip to where I want and take out the double side tape... sounds easy ya.
  4. Wa, so much info on LCD/LED TV. Was lucky cos my friend who is a contractor has been in the A/V industry for a while decided to extend his kind assistance in heling me shortlist the AV items. Finally my turn to decide on the new gadget for my new flat. Make some comparison and in terms of aesthetic... i think the samsung one looks really cool..... but in terms of technical specifications...... decided on a 52" philips full HD LED(full array) c/w ambilight after much price/spec comparison......afterall they used full array LED backlit instead of the side ones from samsung and other brands.... i think only sharp has the full array LED ones....true freq 100Hz is pretty important to me too..... this one goes to my living room..... For masterbedroom, confirm the LG model for the MBR...... As far as 3D is concerned.... I think the technology is still not up to standard so shall skip it for now....just go the full HD LED models which runs on true 100Hz or 120Hz........ going to make the house more environmental friendly so power consumption is also another consideration for me.....next looking into home automation, digital locking system, surround audio to provide an evenly distributed sound like lounge music for the entire living and dining area
  5. Just wrote to interlock and waiting for their pricing..X my fingers... they give me a special pricing..... got some direct contacts from friends too. Will make some comparison and keep you guys posted.....soo looking forward to have a state of art digital locks...hate carrying keys around.. Callie... looking forward to see more pics of yours......the room layout is pretty odd shape....will have to crack my head to think of how to make it look nice...... share abt your design ideas ya.... Mine is all straight forward rectangle shape so much easier....will try to post pic later on...hihi... I am pretty lazy and find it tedious to post photos..... enjoy your reno sourcing..... cheers
  6. hi callie, Your photo looks pretty messy now...with lots of furniture...... I'm looking for contractor too....apparently.... i got some quotes from ID for my unit in bukit merah... they have some packages going for $18888-$28888 but it does not really fit what i want and they give free bonus.......would prefer them to just give best price without bonuses...anyway, we eventually pay for it, isn't it? They tried very hard to ask me to commit on the painting job first...... managed to shake them off...read a lot about some bad experience here... so gotta be extra extra careful.... Some of my friends are in construction line and they said its easy to manage home reno as it is much smaller scale.... see if I can get them to manage for me....maybe more saving..... Will keep you posted. All the best to your contractor sourcing ya I saw some digital locks too...... love the samsung one that can do fingerprint and key pad number...... they have those using access card and I'll skip that cos it could be misplaced easily. They quoted me about $1350 including installation.... still sourcing for a cheaper source too ..hihihi..... Lets keep each other posted if you find one......
  7. Looks like you have lots of hacking and reinstatement to do. Just went to the expo and got some quotes for mine..... they quoted me $60k just for reno work. I think a very big chunk comes from the feature wall carpentry work....somehow it seems.. nowadays....most ID try to quote many feature wall, is it a trend or just because they can make more money. I saw my friends place using wallpaper and thought she got a pretty good price for it... confused too.... Now going to talk to some contractors that are recommended in this forum...lets see what is their quote.... Anyway, all the best ya
