Hey Rage, I think I understand what you mean by the pipes being in very awkward positions. In those days, people who design HDB flats must have had their brains in their asses. I think it is still do-able given the constraints. When I bought my place, I just copied whatever the previous owner had already done, and it seems to work just fine. You can check out the pics on my t-blog. He sealed up the door to the WC, so entrance is only via the bathroom. The wall between the two rooms were hacked, and the pipes in between were wrapped and tiled to create a fake entrance to the WC. The only weirdness you have to live with is one of the windows is partially blocked which is perfectly fine for me. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=43317&st=0

Congrats Rage777. Can't wait to see your reno. And don't worry about the size, you will get used to it. Convenience is more important. Hong Kongers live in shoe box units smaller than this, and they also survive.

Oh, in layman terms.. it's just the number of switches there are in a box lor. E.g. some have only one.. to switch on one light.. others have 2 or 3, can switch on and off lights in different part of the house.

I steered clear of glass cos I am just too lazy to wipe them since they are to prone to finger prints. Heavy too. I opted for wood and if you refer to my pics, the centre strip is actually PU leather with some design on it. Would have wanted more interesting doors like those found in SLIDEROBES, but Alumix is very limited in what they have, so no choice.

Almost 5 months since I moved in, and I've yet to look for something to adorn my walls or pillar. Sigh. And this was taken last Christmas after I moved in.

Oops... just realised Reiki asked for pics of the toilet... and I totally forgot about it. Paiseh. Here they are: Kept it as simple as I could, as I spend very little time in there.

yup... now all my free-to-air channels very clear liao loh. Thank gdness! But I don't know how that impacts cable tv.

Mine had pblm initially. Channel 5 and CNA very blur, can't see clearly.. my heart sank. Then someone told me to go buy an expensive antenna cable, bought it, replaced, and ok liao.

NICE! And congrats on your wedding.

Very NICE!

it depends on what kind of lights you buy right? Not all can have dimmers .. depends on the bulb/ballast, etc.

The bathroom door and vanity sink with suspended cabinet. I love the 3.5 foot high mirror. I love the glass door. Can play peek-a-boo. Only thing is, I live alone. And it also doesn't have a lock to spare my walls from more drilling. So visitors (especially ladies) use it at their own risk. Might need to assign a sentry while doing their business, big or small.

The kitchen with the glass backing finally on. Enough said.

The cosy bedroom. No storeroom in my old 3I unit, hence this bedframe with storage space. I am pleasantly surprised with the amount of crap I can squeeze in it. Hehe. L-shaped pole system wardrobe. Another life saver as far as storage is concerned. Managed to put my 3 pieces of travelling luggage into it too. So Narnia minus the lion!! My vanity cabinet. The elixirs of eternal youth are all hidden in there.

My dining area cum working area. Bar stools akan datang. The wonderful company I ordered the stools from didn't even have the decency to call me to inform me of a stockout. Was waiting like a fool on delivery day. I finally made a call to check on time of delivery and was told no stocks. Would have been ultra pissed if I needed the stools urgently or took leave just to wait for them to turn up. What you see in the pics are on consignment, and will be returned once those that I ordered arrive. Don't mind the 招财猫 kitty bank. I've had it for the longest time - can't bear to part with it. View from the dining area.

The past 2 weeks has been helluva roller coaster ride. Chasing after the bloody ID for rectifications and fretting (and cursing) over those that can never be saved. Then clean and clean to ensure the house is clean enough for inhabitation. Already the weeks before and into the moving day were spent packing and packing, then moved lock stock and barrel on 22 Oct, then unpack quickly so that the movers can come take away the boxes from my already small enough apartment. Then it's rounds of cleaning before I am finally more settled. Still waiting for my bar stools as the stocks have not arrived. It's been more than 4 weeks since I ordered them. Anyways, finally found some time to snap some photos, so decided to post them up here to complete my reno story. A couple of pics of the extended living room from various angles.

wow... your reno is indeed super fast. glad for you.

DAY 41 It's been a crazy week chasing after the ID to do rectifications. There are some beyond rectification, and cannot be saved, due to the carelessness and callousness of workers. I am glad the renovation journey is coming to an end. It's a once in a lifetime heck of an experience but I sure won't wanna go through it again. Not entirely a nightmare, but certainly not smooth sailing either. Spent the week gradually cleaning up the place bit by bit, as I won't have the luxury of doing a thorough job all at once. Moving in on 22 Oct. So crossing my fingers over the upcoming week, and hope that everything is soon soon (smooth). I don't think I will be posting any more pics over the next few days. So these are the most updated pictures before I move in and settle down. Hopefully can post before and final after pics when I am settled in. The kitchen, minus the glass backing, which is to be installed this coming week... but God knows when. Another view. If you asked me, the kitchen looks the most like the 3D rendition. The rest of the house had quite a number of changes.

Sorry for the silence. Been a busy week. Rectifications are minor but enough to irritate the daylights out of me. the ID knows the move in date is non negotiable, from day one, so that part no need to remind. Anyway, I will just withhold the final payment till everything is done. I've come to this point I don't want them to rectify anymore. The more they rectify, the more problems they introduce.
-
It's chemical cleaning day tomorrow and horrors of horrors, my ID hasn't fully done the rectifications he's supposed to do. I have no idea if he's supervising these last bits but heads must roll.

The inside of the wardrobe. My Song Cho stainless steel pull out baskets.

DAY 36 The carpenters returned to finish up last bits of the carpentry yesterday. The wallpapers are up. So is the Alumix wardrobe. Wallpaper, artichoke lamp and bartop. The solid top for the table will be installed tomorrow. Can't wait. The bedroom wallpaper is also up. Alumix pole system wardrobe. I find the doors a tad plain, and the choice of colours available very limited. What to do, not that many pole systems available in Singapore.

Installation of aircon blowers was done yesterday morning. This is the second visit, as the first was to lay all the piping and trunkings before the wall partitions went up. Although the technician is extremely experienced and really good at what he did, the installation wasn't without incident. To the technician's horror, the partition walls were thicker than what was originally told to him by the ID. I don't know whether it's the ID or the box-up guys who c***-up, but bottom line is, I am not paying a penny more, and between the two of them, they will have to make up the gaping hope the air-con guy sawed. Hide until swee swee... with the exception of that hole lah, which will be covered up. Bedroom blower. Dining area blower.

That's great! Lots of time to plan and flip through magazines for ideas. Remember to create a t-blog so we can follow your reno progress too. Where's your place? 3I, NG, S, A? If not convenient to mention here, PM me.
