  1. can ah? can juz put a hot pot no problem? but i see my aunties granite top.. after a few yrs dun look so good liao. lost its 'shine'....maybe never maintain thats why... must polish i think. LG top cheaper then granite? U sure or not? Not sure if LG got many range, but if its the LG Hi-Macs, I doubt its gonna cost lesser then granite unless the granite u were looking at is a very high grade premium type. hehe.. at least that was the impression that I got when I went to classic kitchen the last time. hmm boiling soup for hours, I do that maybe twice a mth. so i guess can forget abt glass? i wouldn't want it cracking. haiz... looks like can also forget abt a glass stove got to go for SS liao.
  2. Hi everyone! Thanks for all the tips n suggestions.. I have a related question, if you guys can so kindly add some input. For glass or SS backings, how much shd I be looking to pay for each foot run? Is glass or SS more ex ah? 1 ID told me if I do heavy cooking, the glass might crack leh! is this true? I dunno what she mean by heavy cooking but I told her its normal home cook food lor. Dun have those big big fire like in the restaurant kitchens lah... ahahha GnM, Thanks for pointing me to your blog, quite a lot of good info there to read up on. Yeah, I cook quite a fair bit. But generally I'm quite a careful person. I wouldn't put anything hot on any table top, my mats are always prepared if the pot is still hot. Even on my dining table which is glass Frankly, I have no specific theme in mind... eh...juz looking for modern simple kitchen type of look.... Any clue as to whats the avg price per foot run to pay for granite tops?
  3. wah.. nice leh.. how much u paid for that big wall mirror ah? really love your floortiles. u made a good choice to retain it! really does add character to the living room. whoa, big platform!! nice nice.. but did it cost u an arm or leg? keke.. which brand did u used?
  4. yes, i agree nowadays money getting smaller n smaller!! well, back then for me... was abt 6-7 yrs ago. is your 3rm in total original condition? rummi, what is PVC wall-ends?
  5. really ah... my hb is yang metal, and make that STRONG yang metal somemore (ehh.. according to that english website lah, dunno how accurate)
  6. actually it looks quite nice the current gate looks ok ah.. anyways, change gate is a simple process, nextime change also no problem. if your area is high in moisture considering the location, u might wanna go for aluminum or stainless steel ones. coz wrough iron might rust over time.
  7. nipponho, frankly, i do like this concept of not using tiles in the toilet, or at least, not tile it up totally. personally am keen to explore, but the new place i bot the wall tiles look really new still, so its quite wasted to juz hack away. by the way, my previous place also a 3 room flat and the toilets are tiled halfway, the upper part is the wall. i used my left over paint fr painting my kitchen to paint that part of the wall, i dun think its those weather resistent type. over time, u can see abit of greenish thingy (algae i think) at the corner (nearer to the shower area only), but it can be cleaned off. but my wall has texture on it... rough rough one... dunno whats that called. and also my place high floor and unblocked so its very windy. perhaps u'd like to consider this also... is your place windy? and by the way, there is nothing sad about purchasing a 3rm flat hor. and back then my reno budget only 10K
  8. wah... more progress, nice nice! are those shoe cabinets? fr ikea?? i tot i saw something very similar fr somewhere before, not sure is it in ikea or not.
  9. nipponho, i have seen it done in magazines before, looks really nice, but not sure if thats actually someones home or juz a showroom.
  10. hello mummylee, actually for acrylic got quite a few brands in the mkt, and even for branded ones like corian also got different "grade". anyone know if granite also got different grades? if yes, how many types are there in the mkt? hmm.. as far as i know.. fr reading up, granite tops the max comes in 10ft in a single block.. anything abv would require joining 2 blocks, hence causing it not to have the same 'smooth' finish as those acrylic ones. think probably durability is better for granite tops. for acrylic is more on the colors as there are more selections. do u guys maintain your granite tops? i heard must wipe it wif mineral oil once a yr to maintain it. is this necessary u think??
  11. alamak! ok... all along i thought my element wood, now i think its probably not if born in "wood" year, that "wood" is not considered an element too? aiyo, juz how many types of elements are there? kekeke.. so confusing! thanks ya... !!
  12. mace, lets say one is born in the year of the FIRE pig. so means their element is FIRE? a little confused here.

  16. wah... "fu dao"! right on her pillow top! ahahaa.. your friend got windfall after that or not?
  17. hmm... but bats are considered auspicious in chinese fengshui right? so maybe got this 'visitor' is a good thing. !!
  18. aiyo dun call me meimei leh... mabbe i'm even older then u! kekeke... actually 40K for 5rm flat if need to more or less do everything might be around there.. thats why i asked how old is her flat coz maybe not even enuff if include electrical works. but yeah, 40K shd be a comfortable budget if she's not asking for very top of the range materials (or top of the range ID firms . haiz.. nowadays money bery small!
  19. pressurizing a customer to put deposit is a show of 'no confidence' to me. i think if an id is good, she/he wouldn't need to resort to this type of hard sell.

hey light, btw, if u're having problems with shedding furs, u ain't see mine yet my dog double yours in size! keke.. also shed like no tomorrow! if her fur was made of gold, i'd be damnnnn rich!! aunty here using magic mop (actually i find it more effective than my current lousy vertical type vaccum cleaner)..then i use a wet mop. have to do this 2-3x a wk!
  21. wah corian comes with a cert? none of the IDs/contractors mentioned this before. thanks! now i know. i can't decide between using a corian / granite top. i understand from ids that corian scratches more easily..is it true? while granite is more lasting. but granite will not come in 1 pc and upon looking closing, u can see the 'joint' lines, whereas corian does.
