My parents recently got their keys to their Studios Apartment at Choa Chu Kang. When we checked the unit, we found the bedroom was not designed properly. For an couple to sleep, we need to put a Queen size bed in the room, and there was a built-in cabinet in the bedroom supplied by HDB. But if we put a Queen bed in the room, the space between the end of the bed and the cabinet is so small that there is not enough room to open the cabinet door and drawers fully, and not adequate space for old folks to access the items in the cabinet. I have contacted HDB to feedback on this in early September. I received call from the consultant's architect, who told me the bedroom was designed based on a bed length of 1.8m. I look around in the market, the standard length of a Queen bed mattress (or even single bed) is 1.91m. With bed frame added, it is around 2m. One week later I talked to someone from HDB, who now told me the design was based on 1.9m bed size. I was told by HDB and the main contractor: - Buy a bed frame of 1.9m and put the mattress on top, even though we already have an existing bed. - Dismantle the cabinet the buy a new cabinet of small depth (which I heard some resident was doing that so that they can put their own bed). We trust HDB to build a decent apartment for the old folks. Even though that is a smallest size SA, we expect to be able to put a Queen bed with the cabinet and have access to both. The living room can be smaller but the bedroom has to have minimum size to put a Queen bed. That is basic requirement. To me this is an overlook of HDB and the architect to come out with such a poor design for the bed room. It affects all the units with the same design. I understand that HDB had meetings with the architect and the contractors on this issue 2 weeks ago. But the last time I heard from HDB was more than 2 weeks ago. I have also written to MND, but they just forwarded my email to HDB. Hope HDB is not trying to avoid the responsibility by keeping quiet about it, and hope that we will forget about the problem eventually. What is next thing to do? Write to the forum, Stomp?

The one in Silver River ad only raised to a low height. They have another model which raised to dining table height costs $569 and without drawer. The table and legs look similar to the video above. The metal joints were obvious when lift up the table. Is it the same in the more "branded" ones?

Those at Boconcept only raised to a low height, not as high as in the video.

Planning to install Monoprice 6816 as the surround speakers. My focus is on music, so just get the Monoprice to mount on the false ceiling so no view of cables or brackets. Also putting another pair in the bedroom powered by the same Marantz AVR. Hope all turns out ok when fully setup.

I am thinking having one row of Eubiq sockets on the feature wall just under the TV as I require 10+ power points around that area. Not sure whether will look weird.

I think it is cheap for a LAN point at $80. I saw a few quotes more than $100 per point.

Thanks. Mine is 2.75m high. With a false ceiling, will be around 2.6m, which is too low for the 40cm rod, and have to get the 25cm model. Do you feel the breeze say if you are 2 metres away from the edge of the blade? I try to plan for the best position to install the fan. So far the only guideline I found for the downlights is the distance from the edge of the fan blade has to be at least 1.5x of the rod length, which is about 37.5cm in this case, but I will plan at least 40cm or further apart just to be sure.

Hi, for your Kotuku fan, how high is your ceiling where you install it? Did you get the model with longer or shorter vertical rod?

For the LAN point, does it include Cat 6 cable, face plate, keystone?

So there is also a hole at the bottom of the wall for the cables to run to the power point, network point, AVR? Do you connect all your input through the AVR via HDMI? Or you use a HDMI switch? The current old aircon pipings run through the false ceilings in the kitchen, toliets, hallway to reach living/dining areas and the bedrooms. I plan to change the aircon for the living/dining and bedrooms, and re-run the pipings. If I were to redo the toilets and kitchens (wall and flooring, cabinets, etc), when should the aircon contractor comes in? They told me they can come in for 2 days to lay the pipings and all, and come back another day to install the fan coil units. Should aircon be done: 1. before renovation work of toliets/kitchen? 2. after renovation work of toliets/kitchen? 3. before painting? 4. after painting? I am thinking of after 2 for the piping work, and after 4 for the fan coil. Any advice? Thanks

How do you mount the Monitor Audio speakers to the brackets? Do you drill holes on the speakers? I intend to mount two small surround speakers to the false ceiling but not sure how to do it.

Sorry Paraman hate to ask but saw you joined yesterday and posted the attractive offer: are you in any way related to that company? Do you earn anything from this bulk purchase? I read in another forum that if the price is a big difference from other companies quoted, got to be more careful on what you are getting.
