  1. True, it does look sexy, strange and best thing, un-fan like for a ceiling fan. Maybe the Haiku appeals to me more especially it is more friendly on my wallet. The Sycamore look more futuristic which does not go so well with my theme. I was actually aiming for another fan but it is almost twice the price of the Sycamore. Fellow T-blogger Defelio has one in his living room. Totally love it but the price is **** scary
  2. I like this type of open concept of dish tray and can hang wine glass will be even better. Your sink does look big (I like) Lastly, the white exposed portion on the right of the sink bottom. Will it look better with the laminates instead of white colour? Just my opinion
  3. Today is air con installation. Figured out how the trunking & piping will "run". The quotation for the 3 + 1 air con is for the living room & 3 rooms, totally forgot that we have an open kitchen concept. The air con guy was commenting that the air con 18BTU may be sufficient since we will not always switch it on. Spoke to wifey about this and wanted to know if can change to 27BTU instead. Just called the Gain City guy, he has already installed the piping and to change to a 27BTU, he needs to take them all out and change a new set of piping. Well, it is our fault for not checking properly. I was thinking that we can switch on the ceiling fan if the air con is not that cold.
  4. There was a Grohe sale in early April. Maybe can aim for Nov sale if you are not in a hurry
  5. Good news... Gain City managed to slot in a date for me tomorrow. At least there will not be any delay for the renovation but we are not in a hurry to move in.
  6. Really, the shorter subway tiles are more expensive? I have not checked on the pricing for both the short & long size subway tiles. I trust my ID & let him decide the subway tiles size. I do realised that the tiler will need a longer time for the shorter subway tiles and man, it is not easy to make sure it is all in line.
  7. Day 7 No pics coz contractor forgot to snap pictures. Only tiling work is in progress. 1st hiccup... Contractor was asking about air con installation. I had called Gain City 2 weeks ago and they can do installation the following day. However, renovation has not started, so I did not fix an appointment. Till todate, I was told that the earliest installation is on 7th May. My contractor also coz cannot do trunking and painting. So I told the Gain city staff to chop chop find one day this week for me if another cancel their installation.
  8. I like your dining lamp, the angle that it bends from the ceiling, really confound me. Maybe 1st time seeing it from ceiling instead on ground level.
  9. I think it is better to install phone line. Singtel broadband needs a land line for their broadband and my old folks prefer home line than handphone.
  10. Another 2 more subway tiles lovers. My tiler was telling me that the larger subway tiles are much popular than the smaller sizes. I was referring to Pinkwhale I-blog coz she was using honeycomb mosaics tiles for her vanity top. Just confirmed with ID that will be using grey grout line instead of black. I figured this is to match the grey tiles. Waiting for ID to check if there is a need to overlay toilet flooring.
  11. Found 2 subway tile lovers in renotalk.. Let me poison you with mosaics. Wondering if my ID is okay to do this. I guess that he would prefer me to use screed cement instead but wifey is not into this industrial theme. She would love a resort hotel but doubt can maintain it in the long run. Honeycomb design... Very familiar, right? If you have read through T-Blog, someone here has done it in a similar fashion.
  12. Thanks, ayazumi Think I was poisoned by this subway tiles when I was surfing for renovation ideas. My ID new office is geared towards Industrial theme. His toilet is using the huge grey tiles but it was way too expensive to use it for all 4 walls plus the fact that the toilet will be very dark. So I told him to use subway tiles and yes, he confirmed that this combination can work. (in his professional opinion) I am thinking of using black glout lines for the subway tiles. It is making me drool The white glout line is .... well, simple It will look like this but I do have a grey featured wall For those wanting subway tiles but in a louder colour such as red! Mamma-mia!
  13. Pinkwhale, Sorry for the confusion. I will be installing a gas heater at the service yard. The water pipings will run at the top of the common toilet, making them unsightly. I'm not too keen on storage due to waiting time and for instant, I'm worried about the water pressure. I'm deciding on gas dryer too but it will be at the other side of my service yard, away from the heater. This will mean more gas pipes but at the service yard.
  14. Day 6 I went down to my new house, not expecting any great progress and need to speak to contractor on the gas heater water pipes. She was telling me that the water pipes will run around the top of my common toilet. She was recommending storage or instant heater die to the lack of unsightly pipes. Sigh, still deciding whether to get a dryer coz wifey wants a top load washing machine. Gas heater will be at one end of the service yard while the dryer will be at the other end. Service yard will be like a pacman maze. I realised that the subways tiles do take a long period to be overlaid. Quite happy with the result although it is only half done. Common Toilet Overlaying of tiles settled Master Bedroom Toilet , half done for the subway tiles Plastering (Making good the hack walls between MBR and 2nd common room) There are a few comments about the toilet flooring and deciding whether to get ID to overlay the floors. Although the tile is anti-slip but it is not easy to clean
  15. Both toilet will be using the same tiles. Most likely, will spurge more for out MBR toilet Yes, will be using white grout lines as per ID wishes. Unless the black grout lines look more impressive.
  16. Day 5 Too busy to drop by to see the progress and asked contractor to snap a few pictures. Common toilet progress looked good.
  17. How much did you get it for including shipping? New or 2nd hand? How to differentiate original vs replica? I cant differentiate replica and a real PH
  18. I have no idea how this plastering will look like but ID was saying that it is a much cheaper option . Got to tr=ust him on this. I will upload a pic once it is ready.
  19. Which model heater will you be getting? City Gas CS was recommending Prima MA-10FE instead of the newer Rinnai model
  20. Day 4 My hard worker tiler, Ah Di is still labouring away to fix up the subway tiles. Chit chat with him and was telling me that the subway tiles are much smaller and more time consuming to fix them up. The bigger subway size tiles are more popular. Probably faster and easier to fix up. He is doing up the common toilet and will take 4-5 days to settle the 2 toilets tiling. Sneak peek of the dirty subway tiles (Still in process) Industrial tiles vs Subway tiles Half completed wall, to be continued tomorrow
  21. Like your metal tin with the plant....
