I think you don't even know the historical detail.Never mind, I give you another pointer. Go and google the Imperial Record of what 康熙 had written on 乾隆's 八字. 什么 ksa; if ksa then 八阿哥 was better than 四阿哥 lo. Do you know how old was 雍正 when he became emperor bo? Cheers!
-
I have already given the pointer; if you still couldn't understand, there is nothing I could do liao.Your questions, might as well go and challenge TCM too. LOL!
-
There is no question about the starting point, tiobo? Then the question should be, is the ending point defined; the answer to me is yes. Cheers!
-
It is actually very simple to understand; it is nature. All you have to do is to observe what happened to a woodland over a four-seasons year, and the ecology of a woodland over a longer period of time. Cheers!
-
The original question was why the DOB of a child has to do with the parents' or grandparents' decision-making leh. Not a question of whether 四阿哥, or 八阿哥, or 十三阿哥 was better qualified to be emperor. Cheers!

可以呢.我叫每个人老大就没错啦. 男生做小的好呢. 请多多关照. Cheers!

我以为:1. The common denominator is of course the time. If 命 is a process, then a process would have a starting point and its end. The Earth is also undergoing a process; it is not the same through time, for example Ice Age etc. Sinagpore is different today when compared with the 1800s; in look, in sanitary, in medical facility etc etc. So, a small process taking place within a bigger process there would be an influence. 2. If you are referring to competency in terms of normal education and other professional qualification etc, yes but in my view very often it is sound judgement that made a difference in decision-making. Of course, competency does contribute. Therefore, we shouldn't be surprised to see seemingly very ordinary people making it big in life. 3. This reminds me of a famous story, albeit an unofficial version;雍正 was named by 康熙 not really because of anything but simply 康熙 thought that 乾隆 would be a great emperor. You say got difference boh? Cheers!

好. The question of who governs the rules of FS has been raised a number of times, so let try to address this first. After which we discuss DOB. 我以为, it is straightforward. Let us take another rule of nature to illustrate; Newton Law. When we speak of the law of gravitation, it is immediately clear that it is not as the result of Issac Newton's definition of the gravitational law that made the apple fell the way it did. Newton observed the nature of apples falling from a tree and discovered gravity. Same in the case of FS. People observed the nature, and discovered that for example this kind of land formation had that kind of influence etc and came up with a set of FS theory. And according to FS, nature would operate and exert the same influence given similar kind of land formation, everytime everywhere. Not because of a set of FS theory, but because nature is nature. I am not saying that everything in the FS theory is true (or as true as the law of gravity). Moreover, some people look at a same land formation for example and see different things. Like, 冲未必是煞 (actually I like this phrase). Cheers!

是.So, what is the definition of 命? If we read 命理 articles, from books or these published online, there are many descriptions of what is 命. Regardless of each description, the more relevant question is that whether 命 is a process or an event? 命 is translated as destiny; but in English, destiny is more about an event. So we have destination, which derived from the word destiny. And in English there is the word journey, a process to reach a destination. In translating 命 as destiny, over here it is commonly taken that 命 is an event. 不然. I think that in Chinese, 命 is more of a process. What is happening is when one gets through every little steps in the process, the particular event would happen. The emphasis is on the process rather than the event. And 风水 is the tool (to borrow Bepgof's) to change the little steps in the process, to skew the direction towards a better event. How much a 风水 application is able to skew, it depends how how far the process has already taken place. 所以呢, having addred wings to 易经, Confucius said 五十而知天命; too far gone in the process liao. Just my 2-cents thought. Cheers!

是啊. 有缘相识 无缘相守. Poor 168. Cheers up! -
Historically, it started with 三柱命理, I think by 李虚中. Then 子平 came along and improved it to 四柱八字 which is still commonly used today after hundreds of years. (Bepgof could write about this history better than me.) Today, there is 五柱十子 etc; how could there not be in this era of supercomputers? The twin conundrum is being addressed by these improvements; what is lacking I think is enough empirical evidence to prove or disprove the improved methods. (Having said so, I have written before that I have never consulted 八字.) However. Historically, the Imperial Court used 紫微 rather than 八字. 紫微 of course is astrology and like a lot of forbidden things then it was exclusively used for the Imperial Court. It was the collapse of Qing Dynasty that allowed KMT to get hold of the 紫微 literature kept within the Forbidden City. There is a side story about 紫微 but it is not within the context written. Cheers!

It is alright if you don't believe in 命 but more in 风水. I was questioning the degree of 风水 influence on a 命 but Ivy reminded me that the reason I thought the influence is vey marginal because I have not witnessed the magic or power of a 风水 application. To which I replied 也是 which means "that is true"! And therefore the appeal for 风水 success stories? Cheers!

The point of the video is really about the 3 latecomers who joined the choir momentarily before the stage collapsed. Cheers!

我以为, we should define the proper context before going further. What you have referred to above, is the thousand-years old philosophical question of Determinism vs Free Will. In this case, you are right that there is no conclusion; it is yes or no answer. In fact, there are variations in the type of Determinism. However, in the context described by Retiresoon, we are speaking of 命理风水. In this context, in its theorectical evolution 命 and 风水 are related and not separable. This is unlike the philosophical question, one could take the position of Determinism or Free Will but not both. 我以为, what should be really interesting is to have, for example 168, to look at a floor layout in the t-blog before the renovation starts and describe to us what would happen to the owner during the renovation; smoothly done or not, what kind of problems/issues would appear. Afterall, he stated that the 风水 of a house basically overlaps the 命 of the owner. Cheers!

(I am just borrowing the video for illustration, and not making fun of an unfortunate event.) Perhaps this video could illustrate a 命 in motion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaED0ljEZVI&sns=em

The size of the wall, it wouldn't fall off la, although it should have been staggered laid. Unless of course it becomes a load bearing wall where there is a carpentry piece, for example a bookshelf, suspended behind it.Even if redo with stagger lay, cracks would form where it rejoins the existing wall. Just a matter of time. Good luck!- 489 replies

Help On Mismatched Tiles Height!
Lauer replied to Pleasehelpme's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Yes, unfortunately it is inevitable that they would dispute, isn't it? The cost of replacement tile is rather high.It is very strange that they did the tiling this way; do you know if they have screeded and levelled floor before the tiling work? Radac, RCMA or even BCA could only offer an opinion, only the Court could compel the ID firm to act in a dispute. Good luck! -

Freb's 5 Room Renovation Journey
Lauer replied to Freb's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat - HDB Resale Renovation & Interior Design
Sorry to see this kind of workmanship.Actually, even if redoing the feature wall using the same type of tile, the result would be bad also. I let you think about it first. (It is all too common to take a 3D drawing as a detailed drawing; it is not but a concept drawing that helps one to visualize a design. The ID should also produce a detailed drawing, in this case, showing the tiling schematic with precision right down to the thickness of the gap or grout lining, and the dimension of each tile. Only then the tile is ordered, and if necessary cut to the right dimension, before applying to the wall. For carpentry, it is common that the 3D producer (or even the ID himself) has no or very little knowledge of how a carpentry piece is to be constructed. Without a detailed drawing, then we would see variations in the thickness of the frames, the depth of the backing if the carpentry piece is to be attached etc when it is constructed by a professional carpenter. There are many of these examples published by ID firms in Renotalk; check out the details of 3D vs actual. It is an individual preference but I have never used 3D drawing for interior decoration, even for a house design; all are in 3 dimensional detailed autocad drawings.) Good luck!- 489 replies
