Dear Nellynut, Better consult your QP/PE before continuing. The column appears to be RC to me. It is no a matter of having the permit or not, but safety.

Dear Alphakim, Is this natural marble? Cheers!

Dear Edenstrauss, My guess is, both the contractor & frame installer are at fault. To confirm, we have to see the photos, especially one showing the frame's footings. Cheers!

Help In Decision Making - Id
Lauer replied to nosypoker's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Dear Renoseeker, More like other contenders fell along the way; the one that last the miles is the one still standing. The process (I could agree that it won't work in most cases) resulted in having someone I trust, know what I wanted, and someone who could stand me, LOL... Regarding quote, my thought is that one couldn't really compare quote from quote equitably. This or that cabinet quotes, comparing by per feet run, this or that is cheaper? But what kind of material is used for the structure? Quality of laminates? Workmanship (carpenter's skill). To me, difficult to compare just based on the quotes on paper. Also, there are various scenarios. Say you bought a condo apartment at $1 million, renovation cost at $100K, that's 10% of the investment sunk for the condo. Do you want to split hair to find a 'cheaper' quote, say at $80K? The difference is 2%. Yet the 2% difference could make a whole lot of difference to how the furnished condo would look? Just my two-cents worth. Cheers! -
Dear Bepgof, Did he clarified if it was the chinese 32 or angmoh 32? Sorry, just joking. In any case, I am sure that you had a grand birthday celebration after...by gotten married? Cheers!

Need Help! How Big A Storage Heater Do I Need?
Lauer replied to Chivalry's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
Dear Chivalry, If yours is a new house under construction, then the questions are best for the architect to deal with. If yours is an existing house/flat, then very often the question of storage capacity is secondary to whether: - how the hot water piping could be installed (look out for the beams & columns), - how much space there is above the false ceiling to house the storage heater, how to divert the water from the main in, how to run the power to that area, if the ceiling opening to access the storage heater would get in the way of any lighting, where the on-off switch(es) could be placed etc. Start with a plumbe? Just my two-cents worth. Cheers! -
Help In Decision Making - Id
Lauer replied to nosypoker's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Dear Kel, I said that normally, they would produce 3D drawings after a deposit. My point was, every ID does things slightly differently, and every client does not necessarily expect the same things. Therefore, your expectation(s) should be made clear during the meetings. Do you want 3D drawings with the quote? If you do, then let this be known. How much details do you want to see in the quote? Let this be known to him as well. For instance, I couldnt be bothered with 3D drawings because I found them good to look at but lacking in details (what is the internal usable height of a drawer? ). So, I didn't pay for these 3D drawings at all. Hope these help. Cheers! -
Dear Bepgof, Bazi & FS consultations are not free leh...sorry, just joking. Cheers!
-
Oh never mind... Nice postings on the Gardening forum! I am looking forward to seeing more... Cheers!
-
Dear Bepgof, How much of one's future is revealed by the FSM during bazi consultation? Anybody else cares to share his/her experience? Don't have to go into specific. TIA!
-
Dear Edenstrauss, I really doubt this... Cheers!

Dear Kel, Frankly, real IDs or not, one should establish/practice good communication with IDs right from the first meetings. Your questions should have been raised while "talking to them"? Although the common practice is for the ID to produce 3D drawings after the client has made a financial commitment, there are others who do things differently? In my case, I didn't get a quote from my ID until maybe after the 7th meeting because I wanted him to see the spaces at the physical site, the natural lighting condition & ventilation, understand our habits at home, etc and incorporate these into the initial sketches. Just my two-cents worth of thought. Cheers! -
Dear Ivy, Oh, I did read him on that. The key is as you pointed out, "almost". But I am more intrigued by the cause(s)? What caused him to believe (or start to believe or willing to believe)? I have not consulted on my bazi before, but I could find bazi consultation records of mine in the family files, one apparently done by my grandfather when I was weeks-old. But do I believe in destiny? Absolutely. Cheers!
-
Dear Bepgof, A personal question; do you believe in destiny? Cheers!

Exactly what Johnson (?) would do. Cheers!

Dear Bepgof, BUT.... Using this line of reasoning, and assuming that we find the very top, very genuine Grand FSM of this world to interpret the 100 new babies, the results would be same right? Yet, it couldn't be because these 100 babies would have different life stories? Moreover, we are speaking of the same hourly pillar (100 babies x 60 mins x 2 = 12,000 babies). How? Cheers!
-
Dear Luvping, But how did you know if the installed frame is uneven, or the floor is uneven to start with? Cheers!
-
Dear Tidakboleh, That was my question; same four pillars, different interpretations? Could you please tell the story of the secrets of four pillars? TIA!
-
Dear Bepgof, About 13 millions.... But world population is much more leh, how? TIA! Cheers!
-
Dear Mae, The New Age FS practices, are they based on principles derived from the Classical FS? Are they working or not? TIA! Cheers!

Dear Soyabean, Well, the landed housing stock here is probably less than 3% of the entire? Less the numbers from 99-years leasehold property, those already rebuilt to 2 or more storeys, those of strata-titled, one could imagine that the balance is a really low number. From the bank perspective, it probably couldn't be bothered putting on detailed online information. Moreover, the process of financing a landed house with the intent of rebuilding is not so straight-forward than compared with, say financing a condo purchase, so a more intimate (?) discussion with a banking officer is called for. If you don't have a particular unit in mind, are in a more exploratory state, then just call the bank's hotline for enquiry. It would assign a RO to contact you to address your questions. Best is to call your own bank for the initial enquiry, and proceed to another bank to understand the competitive detail. If you have a particular unit in mind, then your housing agent is the best person to link you up with the banks. Other forumers could share their experiences also? Cheers!

Yes, it can be done. We have had these 2-ways switches for a singular storage heater in our rental apartment previously. Cheers!

Dear Mae, Thanks for the response. I dwelled into this subject because I was intrigued by some of the comments made regarding FSMs' recommendations: - "Cannot sleep in MBR..."? - "Reflexive films for all windows..."? - "Orange color for living room walls..."? Etc. And wondered if these are what Bepgof referred as "blending in". Cheers!
