  1. My agar agar individual imagination...for open discussion. I think that the ancient verse on how Qi travels, from higher ground (mountain, hill) to stop at the lower ground (water), should not be taken literally. But before going further, we all need to accept that Qi (FS or environmental Qi, not referring to TCM's Qi here) exists, OK? Where did the Qi at the mountain come from, for it to travel to the lower ground? The mountain referred in the verse, in my imagination, could mean a structure. This structure became a repository of environmental Qi, a sort of whirlpool capturing the Qi. The water in the verse could refer to a flat land below the mountain, that also functions as a repository of Qi, but of a much lower capacity. So imagine, visualize in your mind, the movement of water around two whirlpools, one larger & one smaller? You would get a movement that somewhat resembles the Ying-Yang diagram. Is this why in FS analysis, the Ming Tang is important, without which the environmental Qi could not possibly get into a house. What could happen to the Qi in the mountain. Dispersed by wind. Speaking of wind, please enjoy the legend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjXwvB2BD6A&fmt=22 Cheers!
  2. Aiyah, don't analyze lah. You said intelligent but other said dumb leh, how? Nervous, derived from the word 'nerve'; lots of nervous energy means going crazy leh, how? Cheers!
  3. In lieu of honey... http://kejiao.cntv.cn/humanities/yijingdeaomi/videopage/index.shtml Cheers!
  4. No more honey la...all taken by Queen Bee liao. What is Aquarius style? Bo tio. You are right, I am now busier with the Bazi, FS stuffs. Got Noblemen to lead mah...OK, I go and read the book. Be prepared for more questions ah. Cheers!
  5. In Bazi analysis, everything is based on one's birthday. I think that this foundation is unshakable, right? One's birthday could not be changed, it is a given. In FS analysis (of which XKFX is but one method amongst many), if one excludes external environment of natural land formation, waterway etc which one could "meet" but couldn't create, then it is mostly about FS of a house or building. When the birthday of a house, the corresponding XKFX's Period, is not the foundation of its FS, then what is? A Period 7 house should not be able to enjoy the "lucks" of a Period 8 house, because the sectors had moved when Period 7 transited to Period 8? I think that, normally, one would not consider a car that clocked 50000 miles as the same as a new car? Cheers!
  6. Dear Bepgof, Why only DAY (gan/zhi) of birth? Kindly illustrate? TIA!
  7. Dear Tidakboleh, You are absolutely right about starting somewhere. The problem is that the somewhere should be the right starting point; starting point salah, oops. But that is also not much of a problem, except that to understand the classic texts, my command of chinese CMI leh. So, hope to continue to meet Noble Men along the journey. Regarding the birth of a house. I would have thought that at the practical top level of Period, Period 8 influence is/would be inherent in a house that is built/o be built within 2004 & 2023. Of course, XKFX analysis could cascade through the time-dimension levels of Cycle, Period, Year, Month, Day, Bi-Hours but the lower level dimensions are still subjugated to the Period influence. Within the Period 8's 2004 to 2023, its influence could intensify from 2004 onwards, peak, and then wane towards 2023. This intensifying & waning cycle, or Yin-Yang cycle, should be reflecting in the lower level analysis. The analogy would be for the Bazi of a person, the practical top level of birth Month (or season) has the inherent influence over Day & Bi-Hours. By practical, I meant that the Year influence comes under the 60-Years cycle after all. Cheers!
  8. Dear Dumb, Whatever it is, just do a new false ceiling. You wouldn't just leave it there (harmless or not), would you? Cheers!
  9. Dear Bepgof, I am sure that they knew the application...plenty of pagodas built in ancient China, also multi-storeys buildings since Han Dynasty or earlier, although XKFX Is circa 1800s. By the way, I truly want to learn more about Bazi, FS etc. I believe that there is "something" there about one's destiny. Cheers!
  10. Dear Tidakboleh, The thing about mapping is not the grids, but buildings or structures that one could map a grid to. For modern apartment, a grid could map onto an empty space/void, say in the living room? Then what about how to apply the grids for a landed house of more than one storey? Cheers!
  11. Dear Erwinong, Just my two-cents worth of thought. For downlight, it really depends on how do you want your wall & furnishing to look like at night. After all, there should be a continuity from the daytime look? Fo example, if the wall is painted white, of course it is because you like the white-shade look during the day, then do you want to turn the wall into orange color at night by installing warm downlight? It is your house, others don't live in it, do they? For reading, better get a proper reading light (3M). Cheers!
  12. Dear Tidakboleh, I have to declare that I have not read a FS book before; all I "know" are gathered mostly from here, and wikipedia/links provided generously by Bepgof. Don't shoot arrows arh... Regarding period 8 (Earth), I was referring to its influence relative to the birth year of a house. Thank you in advance to continue to donate.
  13. Dear All, Please poll & comment freely. Cheers!
  14. Dear Yoongf, Yes, this is also possible. Problem is for a square, 8.5m x 8.5m, very hard to come up with a good internal layout. Space couldn't be properly utilized. Cheers!
  15. Dear Beemer, The question is, the two units that you described (at 9.25m wide each), are they separated by a wall? One could only access to the other unit via it's main door or back door? If Yes, then what we have is one unit as terrace & the other unit a semi-d (same as the alternative I mentioned). I doubt that, in this case, URA would approve without a sub-plot exercise; LTA wouldn't give you another front culvert for the other driveway. But please check with an architect or QP to confirm. If No, then this is a straight-forward sideway extension. As long as all the setback requirements are met, the height limit allows a 3-Storeys redevelopment, URA should approve. In this design, one has to pay attention to the natural lighting & ventilation within. Hope these help.
  16. Dear Tidakboleh, I didn't really mean see but "see", LOL... There are buildings or structures within a Siheyuan that one could at least mapped to the 9-grids, as compared to say the modern apartment? Cheers!
  17. Dear Tidakboleh, For example regarding XKFX, the period 8 influences could be the greater this year when compared to say, the year 2004? Cheers!
  18. LOL...don't be like that lah, Bepgof
  19. Dear Bepgof, I believe that the intensity of Qi is measured by time lapsed. Ying Yang cycle. Tio bo, Tidakboleh... Cheers!
  20. Dear Beemer, To redevelop the existing semi-d to meet the requirement of separate units for two families (for privacy or otherwise), the common design is a two-blocks building with a courtyard in between. That is, when viewed from the front/road, you could see: - Car porch, a garden that stretches from front to back (at least 2m wide) - The first block of the two-blocks building - Courtyard - The second block of the two-blocks building - Backyard (at least 2m long) This kind of design should retain the semi-d status of the building for URA approval. But with 18m, less the setback requirements of 9.5m (7.5 m car porch & 2m backyard) we would have only 8.5m left. So, not possible to construct a two-blocks design. An alternative would be to sub-divide the land into two smaller plots, one for a terrace design & the other a semi-d design. But I don't think that this alternative would gain URA approval; even if technically possible (because the landed estate is a mixture of terraces & semi-ds currently), you would have to consider the plight of your neighbor's semi-d status. I don't think that he is looking forward to a downgrade from semi-d to a corner terrace? Hope these help.
  21. Dear Beemer, 18m measuring from front to back? I think that we have a problem here... What do you think, Leecharui? TIA!
  22. Dear Beemer, I believe that we should try to get a clarification firstly; your current semi-d is adjoined to your neighbor's semi-d by a party wall, where the party wall is either on the left side or right side of your house when viewed from the front? Also, what are the width & length of the semi-d? (Approximates would do). Cheers!
  23. Dear Evo, Just my two-cents worth of thoughts, regarding your questions. - Carpentry before or after parquet flooring? It could be done either way. If done before flooring/revarnishing, then make sure that the carpentry are protected with plastic sheet, to prevent possible tarnishing especially at the footing. If done after revarnishing, then make sure that the new floor is protected to prevent accidental scratches by the carpenter during installation. In my view, probably better to do the revarnishing before carpentry should there are lots to install. - Cleaning? I couldnt see the advantage of having the cleaning done so early as listed. The overall cleaning before handover is normally included in the quote (means it is not free). Are you only revarnishing the parquet, with a re-grinding? If so, then the parquet is first sanded, vacuumed, and finally varnished. It sounds very straight-forward, but the devil is in the details. 1. All bathrooms (and areas with tiling done) should be protected or sealed, before sanding starts. Of course, also protect the carpentry as stated above. 2. Areas around the door frames, window frames (if there are), footings of carpentry should be properly sanded or treated (if done manually, not by machine). 3. The dust after sanding should be thoroughly removed by blower & vacuuming. 4. Varnish should be applied liberally and evenly. Let dry for at least 48 hours before stepping on. Hope these help. Cheers!
  24. Dear Beemer, On your second option, I don't know why the design could break any rules because there are plenty of semi-ds around with this kind of design. But whatever design your architect comes up with, it would require approvals from URA, and then BCA, before construction begins & not after. Of course, there would be also the as-built inspection from BCA for TOP later. Cheers!
