  1. Dear all, Would appreciate greatly if someone can comment on the reasonableness of the following quote for my windows. I was quoted SGD 4K for replacement of windows (anodsed aluminium) for my 5 room flat recently and felt it was on the high side. ID strongly recommend us to go with this contractor as they have worked together many times. I should have done more homework on this but was too engaged in other matters of the reno (eg the wall bracket and water thank issue for my wall hung toilet), so this slipped my radar. In order not to hold up the process of the tiling, discussed with my hubby that we will go ahead with it since rough quote was about $2K. Was dismayed when I saw in the variation order that it came up to $4K. It was partly my fault as I did not keep a close look on it, and even did not question ID further when he asked me to choose the window glass (samples were all tinted). My ID said he told us the costs, but we both know that this was not told to us, as $4K is a big amount and both the amount and the rough sketch of costs did not a ring a bell at all. Our learning from this is that we will write down in black and white any amendments in email, before proceeding with installations to avoid miscommunications. Anyway would appreciate your help to verify the following, cos if it's way unreasonable I will go back to my ID to discuss this further. Cost for anodised aluminium sliding window (tinted light grey) = $ 230/metre or $70/sq ft. Also does anyone know of the meaning of side hung? I didn't ask for that but seems the window contractor felt this must be done for the bedrooms. Appreciate greatly anyone who has done windows and can share with us your experience. Thanks !
  2. Dear yoongf and Lauer for your prompt replies! I have a better idea what my ID and plumber meant when they said the bracket is nicely fitted as per the image in the link. It's likely they are used to the Geberit one rather than the rough one my supplier supplied. I will check with my supplier again !
  3. Dear friends, Need your help urgently as need to resolve this before we install the wall hung WC in our common toilet. The background is this: We purchased a wall hung Toto WC with Geberit system. Our ID needs to install the wall bracket plus Geberit system first as hollow bricks need to be piled on to cover the plumbing works (sorry I am no guru so description slightly rough). The problem now is that our supplier has furnished us the Geberit system which comes in 3 components: the Geberit system (concealed in the hollow bricks portion), the Geberit buttons as well as the wall bracket which is used to "hang" the WC. The former two came in Geberit boxes. The wall bracket however looks quite rough on the edges, and finishing does not look good. Our plumber said that the wall bracket looks like it's to be affixed to the hollow bricks portion, instead of the wall. This would render the wall hung WC quite fragile, which might give way over time or should someone heavy sit on it. Would want the infrastructure to be robust as we also incurred extra reno costs for the wall hung, which is needed to make space for shower area. We discussed with our supplier and it seems that this is the best they could obtain. They are not aware of a better wall bracket and said it's likely our plumber not experienced. My ID and the plumber said that the wall bracket they have seen previously in condos are nicely wrapped up in Geberit boxes too and are affixed to the wall instead of the hollow bricks. I'm thinking of going to Toto directly to ask them can they sell me the wall bracket directly but not sure if will be successful . Another option is to return the entire set of Toto WC plus Geberit systems to our supplier but not sure if can get refund. We got not many things to buy at the shop already. If anyone with experience with wall hung WC and the wall bracket will appreciate your help very much, thanks!
  4. Hi mae29, Could you also kindly PM me the contact as well? Is this remote controlled? I would like a remote controlled one . Thanks!
  5. Hi ne0mesis, Thanks for your help re the info on Fujioh hood. Will discuss with hubby in depth on whether to go with Fujioh . Your kitchen design looks great, really like the island ! Btw would like to find out how's your experience with Like That One? Was planning to go there after collecting our geberit system from the warehouse at Wcega Plaza but too tired . Thinking of looking for solid bookshelves as hubby and I both love books . Thanks again! BlackSesame
  6. Hi Yinguo, Thanks so much for checking, I should have bargained harder when I went to Mega that day for this model. My fren uses this in her house and it really really turns out such beautiful results that we couldn't resist. Our family had a built in oven Naturally I didn't get such a good price as $1139 , the differential is enough for me to buy a relatively good WC or a rainshower set argh! I was focussing on other renovation items so missed this sale. Anyway it was a really good bargain for those who went! For those who bought the hood AD990XC and TG890X hob, any comments ? We also bought the Brandt washer WFK1018A but considering whether to change or not. Thanks, Jen
  7. Hi has anyone got any feedback to share on: a) Brandt hood AD990X and b) Brandt hob TG890X? We liked the Brandt finishing so booked it at Mega Discount Kallang together with the Brandt oven but a bit concerned after reading the feedback on the noise and other issues. We still got chance to change before it's delivered, so any comments would be appreciated greatly !
  8. Hi Yinguo, convenient to share how much you got your oven for? My good friend is using this and so far quite happy with it. I was quoted SGD 1,690/- excl GST . I missed this warehouse sale, now thinking how and where to buy, will try and look around. Thanks again
  9. Hi I bought wallpaper at IMM, the salesperson quoted me about 500+ for a roll. I'm not sure what's the measurement but according to my ID their wallpaper from Korea. You can take a look at their catalogues there. I wanted to do research also but lazy . I personally think the price can be bargained further if I were not accompanied by my ID, but wanted to save energy in selecting from the numerous wallpaper patterns available. Hope this helps .
  10. Hi JamisD, Thanks for your reply , just wanted to share what the Best Denki guys told me today when I was browsing yet again at the washing machine section. According to him, Panasonic is good at top load, but the model you are inquiring about is their second attempt at front load. Apparently, the first attempt didn't kick off. He added further that the Samsung model which I was also looking at is built without a belt (I'm not sure what he means) so less durable than those with belt eg LG and other European brands. Subsequently he pointed me to a Bosch model (made in Thailand). Think sales talk has to be taken with a pinch of salt, since another sales person on another day also directed me to the Bosch model, which I wasn't very keen cos of the smaller opening door. But nonetheless good to keep this in mind while waiting for more feedback from users.
  11. Hi Aron, Can you kindly quote me inclusive of installation / piping for Mitsubishi Electric inverter? I'm not sure which systems to install as I have 3 bedrooms and a living and dining room for my 5I HDB resale flat. Installation in early Oct. Thanks! Cheers, Jen
  12. Hi Timothy27, Thanks so much for sharing info , would love to buy Grohe too but as my reno budget already exceeded like crazy (ID just informed me need to do plastering for all walls after inspection sigh), so I need to be extra thrifty with other parts. I think will go for Toto as have read some of the reviews in the t-blogs here . Looking forward to your reno pics!
  13. Hi Kryeo, I be going for my 2nd inspection soon, it's was also advised by HDB officer at our first appointment. My agent asked me to let him know when is a convenient time for me to go and inspect before second appointment. Usually I understand it is best to do it very close to the second appointment to avoid "surprises". I would think the buyer should initiate this, as it's in the buyer's interest to ensure all is in order before making full payment. Your agent probably will know as well, maybe you can check with him or her ?
  14. Hi there, I'm keen to know how this is performing too. I like the big door of Panasonic Econavi series. Am considering this versus the Samsung 7.5kg front load model. My frens bought the Samsung and so far quite happy with it, though my mum strongly recommends Panasonic. Hope to hear from users who have bought the Panasonic NA-140VG3 (10kg) or NA-148VG3 (8kg) !
  15. Hi Timothy27, Thanks so much for your reply , I gather your reno is starting soon? So exciting for you indeed . I heard from my ID that the renovation peak is coming soon so it's better to start early. Btw can I check where did you get your sanitary wares from? My ID recommends I go with him but after reading some comments think it might be better to do so independently of ID? Thanks again !
  16. Hi Timothy, Do you mind sharing who's your ID? We are also looking for ID who are into similar styles as depicted here in your posts . I tried to send PM but think your msg box is full? Thanks very much!
