  2. I need help on this as well. Heard that it is not legal to conceal the wiring in the old generation HDB flat. But feel that alot has done it. Anyone who has done this before can share with us your experience?
  3. Hi Alan, thanks for the advise. my altar will be facing the main door and against a solid wall, have full view of the whole living room and whoever is entering the house.
  4. Hi, really like the theme of your new place. Congrats on your reno. Was wondering where did you get your blinds from? Appreciate if you could share your contact with me. Thks.
  5. Nice grey tiles with the cement-screed effect. Great Job! Looking forward to see more photos of the whole place!
  6. Was thinking of refurbishing my old set of sofa (wooden ones with individual cushions)as I have seen a few folks in renotalk who did so. Pretty nice result. A little retro touch as well. Anyone has contacts to share?
  7. Hi, will check out your blog. I am getting a white WC. The black one is just too costly as well.
  8. hahaha of course n!I switd to a cheaper alternative. Didnt grab a pic of it though.
  9. After six days of work, I would think my contractor is doing a great job. Some of the walls are already repaired with new cement and sand. The walls of my wardrobe (previously storeroom) are already erected. Kitchen windows, MBR and Bedroom 2 all done up! Yay! Also did a little shopping over the last wkend. Purchased the OTTO mercury WC initially (as shown in pic) but changed my mind after which as it was really too costly. Although its really a nice WC.
  10. Oops, I meant "tts what I planned". will show you the final product when its done ya.
  11. Thanks for the idea and thats exactly what I did!
  12. Hi, really like your pick on furnitures. Could I find out how much did it cost you for the refurbishment of the chair and where was it done? Aprpeciate if you could share the details with m. Thks.
  13. Thanks ejszaka. I really hope it will still look spacious after my furniture is in.
  14. Went to check out on the progress of my reno last night. Almost all floor and wall tiles are gone except the bathrooms and part of the kitchen. Everything seems to be going well. The wall at the kitchen entrance has also been removed (The wall highlighted in yellow in the floor plan below has been removed). Now the kitchen entrance is huge and gives a visual feel that the living rm has been enlarged as well. The storeroom walls are also removed (as highlighted in red). Noticed that the contractor has also removed an additional wall at the storeroom (highlighted in blue) and he clarified that the wall has already cracked at the top portion and its safer to remove and rebuild. Hopefully I don't have to bear the additional cost for this. Plastering of walls and laying of the floor/wall tiles next!
  15. Hi angelbutterfly, congrats for ur reno. U have any photos to shre?
  16. Wow. That's really how I envision my kitchen to be. Hope the grey tiles I selected can provide the same look and feel. Thanks for sharing.

  20. I just got a 46" samsung 7000 series during comex. Total bill was about $3k inclusive if a blue ray player as well as a system sound bar. They also throw in 5x 3G glasses, 6x blue ray titles, free brackets for wall mount, free delivery.
  21. @ejszaka my place is a door to door unit so not much people walking ard to peep into my place or watch tv with me la. @potatoes yeah. Agree that regular shaped houses are easier to lay out. But odd shape gives a little more flavor I guess. @simontsh layout is more or less fix. But I'm open to make minor tweaks here n there. U have any suggestions?
  22. Yeah, i think its a raelly rare unit. ALthough initially thought the slanted walls are quite odd, now I kinda feel that its a feature of the house. WRT the storeroom, we have decided to remove it to have a bigger bedroom. To replace the storage space that is lost, we will be building full height cabinets in the living room and kitchen as indicated. I wish to keep the house really clean and not keep too much junk which might happen if I have a storeroom.
  23. Hi, thanks for sharing. Yes, I have already selected my altar position already. Heard from a few folks that it doesnt really matter where the altar is facing, as long as the altar is placed against a solid wall (just like you have said).
  24. Contractor brought me to Premier Lighting Centre along Geylang Road. The uncle serving us was friendly and provide useful advise on what type of lights are suitable and how many downlights will suffice. Not the kind that will make you buy more than what is enough. Also gave reasonable discounts since he is my contractor's friend. Anyway, my selection below:
