Just to share with you what I did before meeting the ID for the first time. I would email those whose designs I like from reno magazines, etc. Those who are interested in my business will call quite soon after receiving the email. Those who don't call, I don't bother. When I talk on the phone with them, I will ask them to see if they are ok to send me a general quote based on a copy of my floor plan. If I like the quote, then I will go and meet with them, if not, waste time. At least I have some grounds of comparisons before meeting them…

I got all my lights and ceiling fans from Illum lighting along balestier road…Sorry I'm new to the forum, dunno how to load pics! I just wanna say that I am a satisfied customer and am pleased with the service and the price I paid. The lights were recommended and have gotten alot of good feedback from friends and family who saw our house. If anyone interested, can pm me for salesperson's contact, don't want to be seen as advertising for him.

Yup, I just finished my reno and the contractor had the floors washed and cleaned, toilet bowls (cos workers used toilets mah) and cleaned the insides of the cupboards, as well as cleaned the windows and doors and mirrors too. I also thought this is the standard cos listed in quotation as general cleaning and I'm paying for it...

Hi everyone, Based on the feedback that many forumers gave, hubby and I visited MGL at Eminent Plaza and looked for May Cheong. We are very pleased with her service (speaks mandarin). Very knowledgeable and was able to recommend off the back of the hand based on our vague ideas of what we want. My son is allergic to dust mites and she was able to tell us the pros and cons of our different options - we decided on a no-frills roller blind that is anti-dust, easy to maintain and hardy! Price is HALF of another quotation we got from a shop along Balestier Rd (which I later read on forum that it is a carrot shop!!). Roller blinds and timber blinds for my 5 room flat were ready in 10 days. Installation done in 1hr and the whole process is fuss-free. I LIKE!

There are many lighting shops along Balestier and I just had a fabulous experience with one of them. But I don't want to seem as if I am camouflaging as an advertiser. Anyone interested can PM me, I can recommend salesperson's name. I bought downlights, ceiling fans, kitchen and bathroom lights and room lights too. Good recommendations (and not just the expensive lights), professional advice (on the quantity as well as the asthetic needs on my home) and friendly and swift service.

Hi there, I've just completed my house reno with WIKA as my contractor. New house at AMK Ave 4, 5 room flat. I think it was basically a smooth journey, with minimal hiccups. His team's workmanship is generally qt good, esp the tiling team, plumbing team and the carpentry team. But I must add that I was there almost everyday to check on things and would call him to point things out straight away when it's not done the way I want. Hope this helps!
