Week 4 Of Reno. Laminate Flooring completed on last Monday, followed by painting on Tuesday and Wednesday. Window Grilles Up on Thursday. More Water works Yontat came with 3 bedroom doors, installed 1, rejected 2 that were discovered with dents. One of the doors rejected by me, the other by the uncle do in the installation. Well, Yontat is nice enough to replace or rework on the 2 doors. They will be installing them again in the following week. Fellow forummers, please arrange your doors installation before the whole renovation is completed. It is very dusty and dirty with all the drilling of holes for the door locks, etc.

Dear forum readers, my sofa is ready for delivery. However, due to reno delay, I am given no choice but to postpone the delivery date to 1st September. Will keep everyone posted when I receive the sofa. Dear EL,, I would like to thank you and your colleagues for making it possible to make the delivery possible tomorrow. In fact, they even offer to deliver one day earlier. Great Job.

Yes VT30 is out. Comes in 42", 50" and 65" if i am not wrong. According to sales staff at Best, only 50' and 65" are made in Japan.

Hi EL, sorry but I can't help but keep laughing when I see your reply. LOL. No offense to your answer but of course I will like your sofa, if not I would purchased my sofa from one of your many competitors in the market. Not to worry about what others think. I am a genuine customer. Having posted so much in this thread, I think it is only fair to all forum readers and/ or you that I update on this thread upon receiving my sofa. I am like any other customer when it comes to delivery. Looking out for punctuality and the correct goods delivered as agreed when the sales order is closed. I am sure there are some potential customers or readers who already place an order with EL waiting for my update. I have mentioned my delivery is this Saturday, which is not many days away, so it is not a long wait to help them with an alternative or feeling assured respectively. If it is a positive comment, everybody will be happy, if the comment is negative, all the more it proves that I am a genuine customer hahahaha!!!!!

Aiyoh!!!! I am not sure if I am going to have any enemy sending this comment, please dont flame me. Buy a set of sofa only why so many comments until to the extent what type of business models is EL running on, even questioning about company cost structures. Relax lah, this is juz a forum for layman like me and many others to share knowledge and comments, not to bother about how retailers make money or how much money they make. If want to compare high end brand, they make even higher profit. Once in a while, we see brands like Gucci, Ferragamo having closed doors sales. Discount up to 50%. We all know that at 50% discount, they still make marginal profit but does anyone ask or think about the profit margin or cost structure of their company when we are spending money in their boutiques? I am sure readers like me appreciate other forummers sharing their knowledge on leather and sofas. No offence to anyone in this reading this thread. To me, buying a set of sofa and about whether the design suit my eyes, price fit my budget, size fit my living and so long stated on invoice is half leather when it is half leather, full leather when it is full leather. When the retailer state leather in the invoice they mean real leather and not real synthetic leather can liao. How thick is the leather should be made known during the leather selection, so long you like the texture and thickness can liao. Who cares what grade it is called. So long Buyer happy and they receive exactly what they ordered for is most important. I am not saying this becos I purchase a set of sofa from EL. Like I mentioned before, I am still keeping my fingers crossed until I see my sofa this Saturday.

For HDB flats with an air con ledge, normally I dun see installers bolting the compressor to the floor. Dun think there is any safety issue on this as all HDB air con ledges are surrounded by railings. As for older flats with no air con ledge, the compressor is mounted on the aircon rack supplied by the air con installer, and yes the compressor is bolt on the bracket

Dun say like dat lah, me so 4th leh, a bit bigger than yours only, 96sqm. But my current 5th viewing distance only 2.3m. Think depend on layout more than size. Given TVs nowadays are in16:9, with a viewing distance of 2.5m, I would say 46" to 50" is pretty ok. In fact I would personally take a 50". With my current distance of 3m, 55" to 60" would be ideal for me. With current 16:9 aspect, the TVs will nt look that big after all. Common scenario, which is like my fridge buying experience. When you see and feel the product at the showroom, it either look ok size or not big enough. Reason for this general perception is due to the fact that the selling floor is a vast open space, with plenty of other TVs hanging or sitting beside. A few meters away you will spot a slightly bigger tv, on the other side there are smaller ones, etc. One more factor is the lighting in the selling floor, more often than not, our home light is not as bright. Choose a size, place an order, wait for delivery. When we finally get the tv sitting or hanging in our living room, normally we will be asking ourselves, I dun remember perceiving the tv to be this big. Same case goes fridge. In fact I think for fridge, it is more prominent, as we often have our fridge located beside our kitchen cabinets. Well, fret not. With 2.5m viewing distance, if you were to get a 46" tv, you will only feel that it is an overkill for the first two weeks or lesser, subjective ton the number of couch potatoes hours you spend a day. After which, you will juz be thinking that actually the size is juz nice. Worst case possibility is you tell yourself next time you will buy a bigger one loh

Thanks, just went down for site viewing.... My tilers doing OT, appling the white clay to cover the joint lines in between the tiles.

Actually this week progress is slower than last. Halfway through tiling, ken a tile shortage, slow down progress waiting for tiles delivery, end up my ID became the tiles delivery man haha poor guy. He calculated he had excess tiles but tiler rejected many pieces, cannot pass his QC. End rejected qty > excess qty..... My ID mention that his cost for 3d drawings will be 1k+, for my case is the whole house, if they were to impose this cost into the Reno, I am sure they mark up to over 2k

I was waiting for the VT30. Ideal size is 55 to max 60 inch, too bad VT 30 only comes in 55" or 65". I took the Sharp Aqous 65" as reference, a bit overkill in size for me. I have always thought the bigger the TV the better, until I visualize the 65" in my living room with the viewing distance of around 2.5 to 3m. really abit big... shiok if watch 3D.......but if watching horror movies then..........better not continue, now 7th month.....

New Refrigerator Delivered With Hairline Scratch
Phintastic replied to whitefantasy's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Fridge doors are pretty easily dented if there is a lot of shifting of the fridge in and out of the shop(if you buy from a neighbourhood electrical shop). I notice for neighbourhood shops they usually do not turn on their display sets. Their display is really display only. As for the big boys selling floor, Gain city or harvey norman or best denki.. take a closer look the next time you visit them.. almost all their display fridge got some visual defects here and there. -

Master Toilet tiling almost done...... We shifted the entrance of the Master Toilet 6 inches to the left. Nothing to do with FengShui. We juz want to accomodated the vanity top in the bathroom so got to extend the wall a bit. Common toilet... only comes with a sewage drainage, no drainage at the shower area. That means the whole toilet floor will be wet if somebody takes a shower. My ID put additional drainage to link to the original one, built a kerb, to keep the area outside the shower area dry. More practical this way. As my toilet tiles are overlaid, the additional drainage is a tat difficult to solve. Too bad I reach my place with my camera too late. The tiler had covered the drainage thingy they installed. Photo can only see the normal cover with tiles overlaid the drainage thingy.

Sorry to hear the bad news. IMHO, I would have demanded a full replacement -
Dear all LED light lovers, check out this place at havelock road near bukit ho swee hawker centre, it is one of those shops below HDB flats. Shop name is saveOne. Lights are from China, so is many other shops rite? anyway, address is at blk 22 havelock road #01-681. Please dun go wrong shop, they have a neighbor selling lightings as well. SaveOne sells non fancy LED ceiling lights, down lights, etc. I bought some down lights from them. 10w at $54 each, 12W at $64 each, they even sell UFO looking LED ceiling light good for bathrooms with motion sensors, price is only $38. For reference, I saw a ceiling light LED too, going for only $48, the same lights selling at one of the lightings shop at trade hub for $120' One more thing to add, their lights all comes with a built in transformer to bring down the power from our wiring, installation of their lights is just the same as any other halogen down lights, no external transformer boxes Hope this helps.

Hi, care to share your experience on LG TVs with us? What should we look out for in terms of quality? When did you buy your LG TV? No offence, just that sharing your experience will be very helpful for us forummers to decide what to buy and what to avoid.

Wow nice lights shortlisted....me budget too tight now, skipping all extra lightings for now.. Anyway, love the pinkish marble floor you have, they look great after polishing. Mirror mirror on the floor, which tile is the fairest of them all? :drunk:
