I had received the following quotation for my kitchen renovation. I'll like to check if the cost is reasonable, among other things, the carpentry and the cost of the backsplash.

Can you provide a quotation to install sliding window (green glass) with grille at my service yard? Dimensions is around 78 inch x 54 inch.

Glass is glossy, while tiles are matt. In a bathroom, you will have never-ending battle with grim. It will get dirty very fast IMO. Just bear with it. No point do have assed job like overlay or glass and have to deal with it a few years down the road.

He did not scold you stupid like you mentioned. You just imagined it in your mind. If you can't handle a remark like that, good luck working elsewhere. Because in other places, no need imagination, they will tell you to your face that you are stupid.

I second therat's question. On the face of what you wrote, your Father-in-law has a job and therefore own income, stays with you and your husband and presumably does not have to pay rent. If it's a job requirement to have a car, it's the responsibility of his company to supply it or pay for it. If driving is not part of his job requirement, then a car is a luxury. Should you fund this luxury, even if you have excess income? Without further context, it's just a superficial reasoning, but basic common sense tells screams "freeloader!"

The default 3 tick setting on the Arino Caprio is not strong enough for big business, but what the shops don't tell you is you can adjust the Geberit to achieve bigger flush. (See my instructions below) You have to remove the blue clip in the fill valve (right photo, the one with the blue parts, see orange arrow). The fill valve determine the amount of water in the WC; once the blue clip is remove, the valve can be adjust up (increase volume) or down (decrease volume). Once you have adjusted, you need to reinsert/clip back the blue clip to lock the volume. Be careful not to break the clip. After you have done that, the water volume in your WC will increase. As such, you will need to adjust the overflow valve (left photo the one with green parts, orange arrow). Simply move the snorkel of the overflow valve up. No clips or removal required. Anyway, this was shared with me by the service engineer from Genova, who is the official distributor, regardless of which shops you buy Arino Caprio WC. Had him come down to fix a leak, which turned out to be a small grain of sand stuck between the rubber seal and the WC. Oh, if damaged, not my fault

After much delay, my shoe cabinet had finally arrived and was installed last Friday. Final touchup was done on Saturday and I start moving in my stuff today. Check out the shoe rack cum partition! Also, took the chance to change the hob and hood.

I think you should talk to a contractor.

Nope. Unfortunately, the LED light is having some problems (flickering due to something loose) so have to get them down to fix next Monday.

I know it has been awhile. I have not moved in yet and is pending final stuff next week (shoe cabinet, touch up and new hob and hood) and will move in over Vesak day holiday. Here is something I did recently which might be useful for some people. I decided not to replace the existing kitchen cabinet for now, but instead decided to refresh them. If you have a solid top surface and it has hairline scratches, you can consider having the surface sanded. I was actually considering doing this on my own with a random orbit sander but decided to get a professional. They quoted me around $200 for a 10 ft solid surface which I thought was reasonable. Guy and his assistant came with a belt sander and sanded away the hairline scratches for an hour of work. Looks as good as new now!

Hi I am trying to find a kitchen paper towel holder which slots below a kitchen cabinet. Something akin to this (below). I have looked at places like Home-Fix. Ikea and Self-Fix but was not able to find. Kinda troublesome to order something worth 9 bucks from Japan. So if anyone has seen this somewhere locally, please let me know. Actually the design so simple I wonder if I can just make one out of sheet metal. Edit: Found this selling on US website for $7.66, but the same thing selling on Singapore website SGD 67 dollars! http://www.spacesavers.com/Storage/Paper-Towel-Napkin-Holders/Under-Cabinet-Chrome-Paper-Towel-Holder http://www.fishpond.com.sg/Kitchen/Spectrum-Diversified-51670-Chrome-Under-Cabinet-Paper-Towel-Holder/0010591004554 http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/cooking-clocca/item/10000581/

The contractor should know. They use expanding foam and silicon if I am not wrong. My contractor did it for the gaps without me asking.
