  1. Looking for any recommendations for a cleaning service that can come once or twice a week to do household chores (e.g. clean floors, toilets, ironing laundry, dusting etc). Rate hopefully around $50 for 4 hours or less? Operating around the East side of Singapore. Please let me know if you have any recommendations, thank you.
  2. You can try the ones that did for me. $7 for all light point (weather PLC or Light), $35 for fan. Add a bit here and there for wiring and all but should still be cheaper. They installed my lights for me last week, not bad. Can contact Chong at 94237985. You should do the lights installation anytime before painting I think.
  3. Hi, interested to know from those who have purchased how's the carpets from Luxe blog? Can the fibers be easily pulled out? Especially the ones with the silver or gold threads. Thanks!
  4. I got a quote from them to compare. They were pretty expensive and the cloth was not that nice also for the price given.
  5. I've seen 2 brands of bed bug killer insecticide spray at NTUC Finest. Perhaps you can try these before seeking professional exterminators? P.S. Must be careful when using commercial insecticide in bedroom or near bedsheets. Don't want to accidentally poison yourself. I think I saw that the ones sold in NTUC is safe for humans.
  6. Could be you need a lot of rewiring and hacking? My electrician charged me roughly as follows: Simple installation of light (not counting adding wire/hacking but inclusive of cutting holes in false ceiling): $7 per point Simple installation of ceiling fan: $35 per point Installation of wall fan: $15 per point Adding wire (looping) for additional points in false ceiling: $15 each Using wood to reinforce hanging lights on false ceiling: $7 each Hacking of ceiling (moving points): $80 per foot hacked. Hope it helps.
  7. I bought my 3W LED downlights from http://www.-.com.sg. Built in transformer. In fact just installed them today. They look great. The light is more similar to a halogen spotlight than a PLC downlight, so when used for my bathrooms and corridors they look fabulous.
  8. I bought from both Lightings.com.sg and Strass Lightings. Prices at Lightings.com are great, and the electrician they sent to install my lights were hardworking and reasonable in price (can bargain a bit). Only complaints I have is that their customer service guy messed up the date for my light installation so it was delayed by a week, and also on the day of delivery and installation one of the lights was faulty and another light bulb in my chandelier blew immediately after switching on. Thankfully they are responsible and the electrician told me they will bring them back and replace them and return another day to install for me. I only bought one light at Strass Lightings but had no problems at all with it. But I wouldn't say they are the cheapest.
  9. Felt a bit kiasu so I called them up to check on my delivery next week, they assured me that it will be on time. They said that as long as more than 2 weeks lead time from the order it will be okay? Anyway, hope he is right.
  10. I guess you are right. But somehow my husband and I did "click" with him and he is always very accomodating and does come down to discuss many things even at 9pm at night if we need him to. He also give us many ID ideas and recommendations. In the end also we managed to bargain a bit lower from the quote. Hopefully my works will turn out alright.
  11. I purchased a bed frame from Mattress Atrium too. Delivery is supposed to be next week. Hope it comes on time, will try to update.
  12. Yes I am using it for my corridors. Seems to be very bright actually, sometimes the sales people will say its "extra bright" LED or whatever, but I am not sure if that is true or false. But from my observation it's bright enough! Didn't know lightings.com has it for $28 too. Nevermind la, anyway, same price!
  13. Hi, I had a few meetings with the lady designer named Dennifer from Whites D'zigno for my place but in the end I decided not to hire ID at all and get a contractor as my works were minimal. However I must commend her for having lots of nice ideas and being very pleasant, friendly and responding quickly to our queries. Maybe if you would like to go with them you can give her a try.
  14. I bought my chandeliers from them too. Their pricing is hard to beat especially on the chandeliers. Supposed to be Egyptian crystal which is better quality than the china crystals. In any event my chandeliers was much much cheaper than all the other lighting shops along Balestier. Only complaint from me is that the guy who supposed to arrange for my delivery and installation is quite blur. Mixed up the date for me and now my installation is delayed by a week. Edit: Forgot to mention, their price on the PLC and E27 downlights is quite okay too. But it's cheaper to buy the LED downlights from elsewhere.
  15. Hi Michael, do you happen to know what brand is the solar film you installed? I'm wondering if there's a diff between the big brands and the small brands.
  16. Why not custom make? Since your dimensions are rather exact.
  17. Hi, I have a $1000 gift voucher from Fantasy Waterbeds (located at Furniture Mall Beach Road) to let go to someone who wants to buy a waterbed from there. It's not valid for sale items. Please PM me if you are interested, price negotiable. Thanks!

    Solar Film

If you don't mind sharing, how much did you pay? I was quoted about $650 for approx 6 meters of half height windows for a brand called Max-Shield... and someone else quote me $540 for the same windows using some no-name brand... I'm just concerned that after a while the film will peel off or shrink.
  19. Glad to hear your reno went well. However Mr Kok and Perlyn came to measure my house 3 weeks ago and up till now they never contacted me to let me know their quote. I SMSed and emailed a few times to no avail. Not even a "sorry, we are busy". I guess they could be having lots of business but I was quite disappointed with their lack of response. I need my work done quickly so I engaged another contractor who responded very fast and is very "on the ball" (Kow Yee).
  20. How much will ABS trimming cost? I don't think I specified this to my contractor either.
  21. That seems cheaper than mine. It's just too bad that I called Mr Lau/Kok from Sun Hup to come and take measurements at my place few weeks ago and then after he came to measure he never contacted me again even though I kept asking him for a quote. :/ In the end I got fed up and engaged another contractor. I'm doing about 10 feet long suspended TV console with feature wall and tall side cabinet, 16 feet total length L shape study table, some small cabinets here and there on top of my window ledges, laminates on 31 feet of window ledge and a big wall mounted dining mirror for about $6k total with another contractor. Maybe Mr Lau thinks not worth his while cos so few items... sigh.
  22. Hi, I engaged Kow Yee Interior to do my suspended TV console and feature wall. Quoted me around $2k. Of course depends on which laminate you choose also. I also added a cabinet at the side for another $400plus. Haven't installed yet, will update when its in! But the guy is nice and seems very responsive, you can always ask for a quote from him (Mr. Lee). Just Google Kow Yee to find the website.
  23. Someone told me that composite wood (wood + plastic) is better for balcony decking as real wood will fade if exposed to sunlight/rain etc... then must revarnish again. Could anyone recommend a good decking contact that does composite wood?
  24. Hi, I bought the LG 7 kg front load washer which comes with "Baby care" function. Model is WD1070. I chose LG in the end because I was told that the mechanism that rotate the drum is different design from the others and supposed to be quieter and less vibration. But I have not gotten delivery yet so I don't know if it's really the case. But price was very reasonable.
  25. Hi! I bought my LG front load washing machine and a dishwasher from this shop @ Bukit Merah Lane 1 called Hong Liang. Prices are $30-$70 cheaper than big electronic malls. They don't have a big range but if you can find the model you want there then of course more worthwhile. It's intro-ed to me by my dad who is their loyal customer... I am prob going to call them up because I want to buy a Panasonic microwave too. However I think that sometimes big electronic shops can be cheap too. E.g. sometimes got warehouse sale (Courts sale now on at Singapore Expo), or free gifts or vouchers. So really depends.
