Hey frigginfuchsia! Nice MBR bathroom shots! I like the DIY pipe accessories. Very cool. I'm really looking forward to the restored bedside tables and the door + switches combo.

Congrats on moving in! Totally understand the storage hub analogy. Love the Danish console. Looks like most people get the AV stuff up and running first

I think the herring bone parquet is fantastic! My old place had these herring bone flooring and my biggest regret was removing them. Trust me, it's going to look great once it has been sanded down and 'mattified'. Not easy to come by these kind of flooring these days... Check out some of the B&B Italia shots and you'll see what I mean. +1 on your before pics.

Thanks! Not sure about the rule, best to check with some other owners on this.

Congrats adidaem on getting your keys. Looking forward to your renovation. Enjoy the process!

Hey Defelio. Yes, we were initially looking to do the grouting in grey cement but since it was already grouted in white, we decided to keep it. Will monitor if they do turn brown, but don't know if I have the energy to steam clean Hey! Welcome to RT! I got my sofa re-upholstery done by Jann at Jazz It Up. http://jazzitupbyjann.blogspot.com/ I found Jann's blog through Google and contacted her. She showed up the following weekend with some fabric swatches which were more suitable for the hot climate. Talk about customer service! She took care of everything from the moving of the couch (esp since my previous place was a 5 storey walk-up) to the re-upholstery. I guess there are other re-upholster firms out there, but I decided to give my business to Jann since she bothers to connect with her clients online.

I saw the Elkay sinks too! But we were concentrating so hard on the perfect size that we forgot about considering quality. The low price of the Englefield should have alerted us to the inferior stainless steel that they used. Good news is that our helper who drops by every fortnight to tidy the place has managed to remove some of the stains. I bet with a whole lot of elbow grease (maybe she even used CIF :x ) seems like your tap is the industrial kitchen type, with the curved and coiled trunking. My contractor got hold of these bricks called 'Craft Stone'. I think it's more for those looking for a country theme, but once the coat of white paint went over it, we sort of got the feel we were looking for. As for online shopping, it suits my bargain hunting instincts as things are usually cheaper than the retails prices in Singapore. Some of the items purchased online are still cheaper if the retail stores in Singapore have a '50% off sale'. Furthermore, PayPal now has a Buyer Protection system that protects you from unscrupulous sellers and defective products. I think I've got a 80% - 20% success to failure rate for online purchases. thanks!

Hi there, thanks for dropping by and the positive comments, I'm flattered! Love the pool (or billiard?) table at your place. I'll try your concoction to clean the sink this weekend. Ditto on the cubic corners, so hard to clean, but love the look...

Yes, I put my GAS on hold to let my wallet recover a little after the renovation. Abt the sink... no choice, guess I have got to live with it and find some kind of chemical to remove the rust and oxidisation (if there is even such a thing available).

Was wondering what happend to your blog... Looks like it's coming together. The painting of walls really transform the place. Interesting AK-47 treatment for the walls, haven't seen it before. Can't wait to see the finished results. Haha I really really love the door and light switches too....

Just remember to get more cabinets! I wish I did. Hardcases, guitars & amps take up way too much space if u wanna display them... I empathize with him I think we probably know each other... Big coincidence that I just discovered that Les from Forar is a childhood friend. Ha!
-
Yep, we made a last minute change from a wood veneer to a mirror finish to up the lux factor in the toilet. I've got guitar acquisition syndrome... And still have my first guitar that my Mom bought for me when I was a teenager... Erm, I guess only time will tell if it really is hard to clean.

Hi adidaem, great compilation of shops in your sig. Definitely hitting them this weekend. I totally understand what you mean by having to travel in the midst of reno. Look on the bright side, you can shop for hard to get stuff when you're overseas. Just remember to bring a large foldable bag!

Wah, thanks! Touched... esp coming from one of the top t-bloggers here. I noticed that we referenced a lot of similar items from the internet. The solid surface on top can be removed to do some minor servicing like a normal WC. Major problems got to use the included commando mouse plumber that came with the cistern... I only have like 5-6 pedals. The guitars are not so much a problem, it's the dang hardcases! And the humidity is also a big big issue. Hope all is well with your reno...

Some of the items located in the house. The REVO Heritage taking pride of place on the TV Console. A wrong that was made right. A Newgate clock that I saw in London but didn't buy ("Oh, I'll get it when I come back later"). Major regret for not buying but found an online shop willing to ship to Singapore. GBP 83.

The yard. Simple space, did not specify enough storage space The bedroom with IKEA side tables. The messy study / mancave....

Kitchen / Yard Lived in kitchen with appliances and items in place. The facing aisle with coffee prep area, oven and fridge. Coffee prep area with Rancilio Silvia & Rocky Grinder combo. Sink area. DO NOT BUY THIS SINK! Engelfield SQ-05. Less than 3 weeks of use and it has started to rust and oxidize. Should have gotten a Blanco like everyone else. Cooking area. Got separate hobs. Realised that fire is not to our liking as it is not hot enough. Installer mumbled something in Mandarin about some kind of device to make the flame bigger. Couldn't understand.

Toilets MBR sink MBR toilet Common toilet with perhaps the most popular toilet bowl here in Renotalk (ARINO CAPRIO). Got it from a shop along Balestier called Living Phenomenon, was quoted $580 for it and found it at other shops selling for $450 w/o GST! Felt so stupid after that.

Ok... final update We have moved in for about a month and things have sort of settled down. There is a room (my study) which has become our dumping ground for uncategorised items, hope I can get rid of the mess soon. We're hoping to add small touches in the coming months, but nothing major would be done otherwise. Dining Table Entrance & Dining with our beautiful side table from Forar. Alternate angle with light from PH 5. Reused chairs and table from our old place. Table is a little worn, but very well-built by previous carpenter. If it ain't broke...

Hey timothyng27... thanks. I saw your blog and think that we have a similar style that we are going for. As for the couch and console, they were both recycled from my old place. The console was custom designed by my previous ID and built by the carpenter. We love it so much that we decided to bring it along. No cable management whatsoever... We bought the couch from XTRA sometime back and upholstered in a microfabric that got super warm after a few minutes... lived with it for a few years and decided to reupholster when we moved. Couch at our old place... Reupholstered with a much cooler synthetic fabric that breathes better. Word of advice, try and sit on the couch for a few minutes at the shop!

I got it from London at a bookshop called MAGMA. It's a reproduction from a Russian children's storybook (circa 1920-30s)... JS

Hi there! The bricks are called Craft Stone, they are about 1/4 the depth of a normal brick (they are more like tiles actually). I'm not sure where my ID got them from but I did see them advertised in Balestier. Thanks patsy_sg, I have heard of the Rangoon Road shop, but haven't been there before... will hunt for it this weekend. It's from Ideal Bathroom at Balestier, sink is called Ideal Standard. Can't remember the exact price, I think it's about $160 - $220.

Glad to have helped... Do note that I have tried dimming 20W halogens and they were flickering pretty badly. Might be my light housings though, swapped back to 50Ws and they were okay. Thanks! The rest of the place is pretty normal, but will take some pics this weekend. Gotta love teak... a little less orangey than walnut but same effect nevertheless. Still not too late to change I think the PH lamps have a lot of thought put into them to get the right kind of light. I have seen some other forummers with the Artichoke and that's another one that I really like. Am scouring the web for an affordable floor lamp for the missus to read at night.

Hi there! Love the furnishings that you've singled out. I think your space is going to look absolutely fab. Subscribed!
