Hi all, have got a headache now and hope to hear from you all. Is it true that instant water heaters cannot support rainshower? As in the water pressure will be pathetic?

Hi Friends78, very nice house deco there! May I know if your veneer doors were included int he quote as well? Or this is a separate item you got directly from supplier? Able to share the contact and how much is it? Thanks!!

Start of 2nd week with all the sand, cement and plaster Re-laying of gas pipes by CityGaa which I must say is really very well done During the laying of floor tiles, I went back to lay my fengshui stuffs too Common toilet Master toilet I must say I'm very satisfied with the tiling job as the workers were very professional and meticulous. I can't seem to spot any line of defects in their work (expect the wrong instructions from the contractor).
-
Hi all, some updates on the reno progress: All tiling work done for bathroom wall and floor tiles, kitchen floor tiles and living & dining floor tiles. Looking good. But there was a blunder with the common toilet floor tiles. I've specially told the contractor the position of my basin but he got it wrong. Fortunately I went to take a look and realise. When I spoke to him about it, he was looking for all sorts of excuses instead of admitting he was wrong. Because of the wrong positioning, the tilers have to remove the floor tiles and relay again, with the drainage hole at the right place. Another round of blood puking

Hi, can let me know how much did you pay for the veneer doors? Thanks!

@prody: Partial furniture will be new as I've recently bought new dining table, refrigerator and washing machine. My house will have kids hence decided not to invest I'm expensive furniture till the kids grow older. I don't like them dirtying my sofa etc... -_- @Rover & potatoes: told contractor to conceal pipes but he said cannot. he'll try to do nicely for me Loh... Sianz, he's a 'no' man. My basin will still be in the toilet itself but I'm a corner I'm front of wc. This 3D bathroom is a not realistic at all and I will not make reference to it as much as possible. That's really to manage my own expectations I guess. @ejszaka: or if too yellow/ white also difficult to match and dirty easily ya?

Manage to reach my plc before sundown but wasn't able to open the lock with the key. Told my contractor and he'll change to a number lock tomorrow. (he's been saying that since first day of Reno though) Anyways, noticed that my new air con condenser unit is up! Then again, looks like nothing else is being done today... My bags of sand/ cement and tiles have arrived though
-
@ejszaka: nice colour right? Heh, mum also love it.

This will be the floor laminate in my bedrooms and storeroom And one last picture. A 3D of my master bathroom

This was the initial wall and floor tiles for the bathroom, but on 2nd thoughts on maintainence... we decided to forgo the design for a more practical one. I was deciding between this 2 stones for my feature wall... In the end, I chose a 3rd one because it appeals more to me with its beautiful mixture of natural colours and a crystaline look

Itching to post more ;p Shortlisted tiles! Living & dining room floor tile Kitchen tile - can't see clearly but it's definitely not a smooth surface. Oh and it's of a slightly darker tone from the living room tile Common toilet wall & floor tiles Master toilet wall and floor tiles

I simply love the raw look of the barren house Also, I see that they have created the opening for my storeroom... You may not be able to see clearly, but the air con trunkings are up and looking quite 'white'. Here's my truckload of debris That's all for today... will try to rush down after work and snap some shots again (for my records) and see if anything 'new' has been added for today. Cheers all!!!

Hello all again! Here to provide some pictures on the hacking. Hacking of floor tiles (in living room & kitchen) and partial wall tiles went on quite smoothly from 20 - 22 Sept. By 22 Sept, the house is mostly cleared of all debris and no longer looking like a tsumani zone Contractor suggested I do plastering overlay on the kitchen wall tiles in order to help me save $$. Hence only partial wall tiles are hacked. I will be doing floor laminates in bedrooms too, so the rooms are saved from the hacking. This is how my original floor look like:

You guys are hilarious & awesome! @Terence: Yup, storage and movers are paid separately. Will call the same mover to arrange for a return trip and I'm charged on a per trip basis. Basically movers are charging at very competitive rates now hence I'm judging by the service and quality of work/\. @lobo: I'm not gonna have a round coffee table between the TV and sofa. Existingly, I do not have one either and I agree with you that it's definitely a space hogger. @muska: I've pm-ed you. @hafiizh & ejszaka: Thanks for the encouragement. I'm kinda seeing light even before the end of the tunnel. Contractor has been pretty pro-actively in the past few days and I'm really happy he's putting in effort. You'll be surprised to know that he has already arranged for the new air con truckings and took the initiative to box up the ugly glass panel above the room doors. Most importantly, all the trunkings are brand new and nicely done. Cheers!

Hi snaem, storage is less than 600 for 103sqft. Thanks!!
-
Yeah! Not to mention my storeroom rack, 2 TVs and bicycle Hehehee
-
Some pictures on the mover + storage After putting 2 super-single size bed frames, 1 refrigerator, 1 washing machine,1 dining table + 4 chairs, 1 shoe cabinet, 1 office chair, 1 cabinet and about 40-50 boxes an what-nots, I still have a corner space for, perhaps a beanbag. ;p

The current storeroom door opens from the common room and we are now 'rectifying' this which was done by previous owner. We moved all our stuffs to a storage hub to facilitate the reno and I almost got panic attack when the mover told me that I may need a bigger storage space cos there are no more avaiable units for me that morning. Fortunately everything got squeezed into the 103sqft storage I got and thank goodness! The official reno started 20 Sept and hope everything will go on smoothly as planned. Will be posting more pictures on the reno progress and also items I'm getting for the 'new' home! Cheers!

Hello everybody, I am very new to this forum and have been an 'avid reader' all these while. Finally it is my turn to embark on a renovation journey at my current nest. Mum and I moved in here since my dad passed away in 2000. When we just moved in, we only did up the kitchen and minor works here and there, including paint job. Mum has been wanting to stay in a new flat but of course, that dream seems so unreachable at this moment. The best we can afford is a major make over of our current place (which will still incur some $50k). Hence after a decade staying in our current nest, we decided to take the plunge and go for a renovation. Our current floor plan: As we are on a tight budget, we decided to work directly a contractor that a friend recommended. As the months go by (we started in end May/ early June), we are totally regretting this decision. By engaging a contractor, it also means that I (the owner) will be very bo eng (busy) not to mention stressful! This contractor I have is quite 'ah beng' and is chinese educated. My mandarin is 'half-past 6' and you can just imagine how difficult it is for us to communicate. Communication difficulty aside, he is not responsive and very very naggy. (All these triats surfaced upon my confirmation on the quotation and deposit payment ) Gotta bite the bullet and pull through I suppose. We are starting the renovation on 20 Sept and are hoping that the project will be done by 28 Oct. I know I'm demanding but these are my fengshui recommended auspicious date... Well, at least the communication breakdown is compensated with the below pictures: Kitchen Living & Dining There aren't many pictures since I did not engage an ID for this renovation, however the contractor offered this 'service' FOC.
