I wonder if anyone can give advise or confirm this. I have a friend (he's a building manager by profession) who owns a maisonette who had advised me the best place to place the aircon compressor is actually outside the house and not at the inside of the balcony. Placing inside the house will cause warm air to circulate within the house (and with the shutter down) making the whole house hot. In his own house, he has placed the compressor outside.

Is This Painting Quote Reasonable?
Renmapiao replied to jjk's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
ICI have a good deal. You can choose up to 5 colours http://www.dulux.com.sg/eventsnpromos/paintingpackages.jsp -
Thanks Ben for the advice. Someone had emailed me offering their service. Praying hard it won't cost a bomb.

Hi all - I intend to respray my brass bed frame from brown to white. Does anyone have any contacts? I tried calling those "spray painting" companies - but most of them for cars

Pay >$100K Cov Or Rent & Wait Out?
Renmapiao replied to incubator's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
Finding an ideal home is very stressful - especially if the type of house you are looking for is rare - like EM. When I decided to look for one - I wasn't prepared for the high COVs especially for areas near MRTs, good schools etc. and the anxiety (of not able to find what I was looking for - because of the rarity). However, in the end, I did get a good unit [near MRT and reasonable COV (55K), mid-floor, corner unit]. Persistence paid off - after 33 days of hunting. Each of us when buying a house will have different experiences but one thing for sure - to get the unit you really want - need to be more pro-active and not to depend solely on the agent. Prior to getting the unit, I will look through newspapers everyday and check online property portals. If there's a potential unit, I will highlight to my agent, who will then do the calling and negotiating. I sold my existing flat on 24 April 2011, and signed the new one on 23 May. Just went for my 2nd appointment yesterday - and now waiting for the current owners to vacate - so I can start with my renovation. Wishing you all the best in finding your ideal home. I guess it's all about persistence, timing and loads of luck. -
I am praying mine will be as tolerant ... Regarding the wiring - it scares me leh ... I have not asked for any quotation yet - I was looking at 2K - looks like I have to revise projected cost for electrical work

In the end we bought only the table as we don't quite like the chair - it's $899 (before gst). We saw one - with quartz top and wood base and it costs $2400 - just table alone.

Thanks for the opinion. We did choose the marble eventually

Torn between a marble-top dining table or a tampered glass one

Do you have a diagram to show how you carve a storeroom out of the living room? This will be a good tip for me.

Thanks Joyousonline for the well-wish

He he - just waiting for 2nd appointment next week. Tomorrow going to Son Bee Huat to choose tiles. Will definitely update once there are things to report. Btw - I am used to having a big store room - and now that I am going to have a teeny one - I have to think of alternative storage ideas ... sigh.

Concealing aircon trunking in false ceiling - is this advisable / recommended? More pics please of your reno progress ...

$120K??? - Wow! That's sheer madness. I wish them luck lah - if ever there's anyone bold enough to pay that kind of money. Makes me cherish my unit more ...

Looking forward to see your LEGO room

Not the final yet - until we get to view the house

Thank you potatoes - my unit is 16 years old - and mostly, reno work will focus on the 1st level

This is great advice - I will put this in my reno-log : )

Thanks Adidaem, your t-blog chat was the first one I follow the moment we sign the option to buy the house. We were lucky to get this unit. EMs are so rare nowadays, we had to really bid for this one. For your question, our immediate neighbour is just two windows away.

Thanks Soichiro for the tip. I have been following some of the reno works from fellow EM owners - yours inclusive - and I gained lots of tips. Since we are paying so much for the house, it is essential we get the reno works done well. Btw how much did you pay for the Mitsubishi STARMEX System 3 Inverter? May I know what do you mean by 1 big 2 small? Thanks much.
