Ours was almost 2.8k as we rewired the whole place.... i think we bargained it dwn to approx $2.6k but now when we look bk, we feel that he was worth every cent due to the quality and the fact that he was a perfectionist and not just an executor. In conclusion (i sound like grandma..) U might find a cheaper electrician... but it not be a better one..... so far i think yr quote is rather reasonable. Are u doing a whole apt. rewiring?

Hi Everyone!!! am back!!! Apologies for my late replies... but here goes: nimm12 & rottenramone > thank you appreciate yr compliments. Nimm12, yes I've been to yr tblog .. yr home is lovely angelbutterfly> hope this reply will still help u, the sink is a table top mount. (do yo still need more pixs of it?) bellyheng > Glad to know our blog is off help... answer to yr question is, the Suar wood was purchased from a halfway house in Pasir Panjang. The wood is actually 3m long (what we've used so far is approx 1.5m) it cost us a little under 1k mabaricowsThank you SO much for letting us know! i hope both of u have recovered from the cuts. How's yr reno goin? i must go chk it out later!!! ksa > I think dust is inevitable... however we cook daily thus end up cleaning up after cooking anyway. So far the kitchen seems fine (its approx 2 weeks plus that we've moved in) So far cleaning is fine.. timothyng27 > the dining area has a total of 5x60w bulbs & 1x100w bulb they are controlled with 2 diff. controls thus not all need to be on at the same time. Yeah, we intentionally exposed the wires mainly for design sake and only have a L-shape false ceiling for the whole living room as we're not false ceiling fans. the naked bulbs have not affected us in terms of heat has they are mirrored bulbs & we've not had the need to switch all of it on. As for dust....well....thats a little price for design asethtics i guss ;p sethgoh Hi there... good observation it's a 5 burner, cast iron holders (we looked everywhere for it too!!!) and it's from Smeg. Happy Renovations!!!!

ahhh.. okie dokie... it's 2m by 1m.... we wanted something smaller and more scandi. ... looking forward to seeing pixs of yr table soon!
-
heehee.. yeah. suar wood's gorgeous... ours is of a lighter shade proberly due to lesser layers of lacquer (we requested for that as we wanted it to blend with the scandi. feel) I've tried holding Mario Batali's cast iron items... if am not wrg, Tangs is clearing of their stock @ 50% off. I usually only purchase cast iron wares that does not need me to lift it much so.. I made sure not to get the biggest frying pan... mainly braising pots and steak grill for now... chk Staub out... That the next brand I'd like to try. Have you cooked with the cast irons? I luurrve it so much!

strikingreality > Light you enquired is from Motto, Fridge is a German brand "Blomberg" Thanks for liking our kitchen, we really like it too. Yeah, it's intentional to maintain the old school open shelving below the cooker for easy / fast access to the pots etc as we cook quite a bit... adidaem > hehee.. u noticed the red details hur? ;p my husband and I have been working very hard the past months to keep to the colour scheme.. he's more particular than me! (occupational hazard!) guess what... even the new pressure cookers we have is red. U can prob tell by now the colour scheme for the kitchen is white black & wood with touches of red!*slaps head! wei2 > it's my baby Le creuset... my other lurve is for cast iron cookware... also, it's heavy enough to smack my husband with when he irritate me ;p mabaricows > Thank you... I hope it'll be as easy to maintain as i think it is JumpStreet > Thank you thank you....our ID knew exactly how to answer our brief... he's been nothing but wonderful with his details.. and in the span of the whole 6 weeks, we've seen him less than 5-6 times.. lol! Thanks for the compliments on the photos.. it's by the husband... One more pixs for the nite...
-
looks like we do don't we? we almost got the white version like u... however changed to black as we had to match it with the other 5 lights suspended around it... will post more pixs later if i can...! looking forward to seeing yr completed reno pixs!!! happy renovating!

mabaricows > it's okie abt the red drum comments JumpStreet > thanks i've yet to complete the side tables!!!! been a little busy with settling in and work... will definately try to finish them sooon! Here are pixs of the kitchen! *chimney to be rectified!

If u are particular abt country of manufacture for fridges... do double chk as 8 models out of 10 models of fisher & pykel(electrolux fridges & washers too - only the higher end ones are not) are made in thailand.(was actually considering their fridges) Chk ard the fridge for the sticker indicating country of manufacture, usually its the almost $2k ones that are made in Oz.

Adidaem > thanks as for the grout areas, those with dark tiles have dark grout... I think u'll faint when u see pixs of our kitchen.. it's alllllllllll a whhhhhhhooole mother load of white tiles with white grout! I've seen a grout 'pen' at the DIY shops before, am thinking of getting it for keeping the white grout clean. As for the light in the bathroom, it's currently lit by a single 40w/60w energy saving bulb and it's more than enough, my husband was worried abt the lack of light initially too but its not a concern at all (or maybe becoz I've a tiny loo) strikingreality > at my last place, I used cif and a toothbrush to keep it white... worked well hafiizh> Hi! thanks for dropping by, I think yr blog was the 1st one i read!!!! lovely home!! For the design and details of our place, we were fortunate to have very similar if not complimentry likes : I am the scandi. vintage lover which he's grown to like and appreciate, he is the industrial style lover which i do like too. mabaricows> the red drum thingy is a Kartell componibili, hehehe.. never realised that it does look like a oil drum ahhh.. u are using that tile in yr kitchen? cool!.. but... do u cook a lot? i find it a little porous for the kitchen making it a little hard to clean after cooking....of course that can be solved with a bigger back splash Ely> lol think u, that's the husband at work....very cute thumbprint idea both of u had! hope u'll both get it done one day!

hihi... it was my husband who went to get the Grohe shower systems... he said it should be similar pricing to yrs. We bought another 2 grohe icon shower heads to replace the default set's, as we both loved the donut shape As for the machines, we had actually wanted european washers, however, unless we bought the higher end range, they were all made in thailand. (same issue with fridges, for fridge, we ended up with a Blomberg) How I ended up with the LG was because of the 10 year motor warrenty & the direct drive motor. anyway... yr toilets really look great! can't wait to see more
-
Hi Adidaem, here are the pixs of our toilet as per yr requests... not very good pics la... am waiting for the husband to take proper pixs....
-
Here's a few little pixs of our simple & industrial master bedroom toilet.. pls excuse my crappy pixs...

I was a convent gal, husband wasn't from here though a Singaporean now. But I believe with the common interest like guitars etc... our paths have proberly crossed before strikingreality > Thanks... we had to rush the move in due to our expiring lease and auspicious date. (kudos to our ID on pushing everything for us) My fav. area for now is the dining and Kitchen area. We'll try to take some pixs soon as we've been up to our necks with the move and wrk. The kitchen is still a little incomplete as there was a slight design change. Also the cooker was only installed today. Hopefully by the end of the week it'll be all done up!

looking good so far! for my references... instead of buying books... I went ole school - borrowed from library @@

ohhh think we got the same front loader... am so obessed with doing my laundry now becoz it's such a wonderful machine to use!! (for now ;p *fingers crossed it stays that way) We've the same rainshower too... nice even waterflow..quite shiok and like you, we had to think of our furkid too, the only fortunate thing is he does not scratch much... Boy was he stressed out on the first 1.5 days of the move!!!! he was so stressed that he jumped onto the window grilles and clung onto them. for the 1st 1-2 days, we had to make sure he was not left alone! @@ thank goodness he's fine now. He's now resumed to his King of the House status >.< ps. yr maomao has a dammmmmm cute face! i like!
-
heehe.. quite a few of the workers said that too.... not sure if that's a good or bad thing ;p
-
The reno was rather smooth, thinking my lucky stars for a good ID and great construction team, will write abt them soon. Moving in was painful, had used movers but still moved some 20 boxes on our own. Did not help that we were sick and the cat was stressed. But all's good now, just need to clean up more and unpack. I'll take the toilet pixs for ya soon, I just need to get by work for today and tmr. Happy renovating!!!
-
Hi everyone, It's been a tiring 2 weeks due to work, being sick and most of all PACKING for the move that happened 3 days ago!!!!!! FINALLY! Our home is only 75% complete with touch ups to be done, mre shelves & lights to be installed. I"ll proberly be able to capture more proper pixs at the end of this weekend when it looks less like a storage hub. for now, I'll leave you all with a mini preview of the crazy raw wall we did. We had actually planned to have a brick wall... but decided to risk something a little erm.... more raw... nitenite for now
-
Hi Ely, Thanks for dropping by! yeah.. the advertising world is really small.... Unfortunately, I don't think I know your brother... the suits on the microsoft team then were mainly female and I was in the digital arm, he could be in the above the line. I do suspect we might have been on the team at a diff time. ps.. lurve the details in yr home! and hey, am a cat-mama too! yr fur kid's got such a cute face eh!!! I gotta post a pixs of my little furkid for ya to see... I've a seal-point ragdoll aka king of the house!
-
YAY!!!! can't wait to see the process!!!! PS.. We've moved in over the last 3 days! (thus my disappearance.... pixs soon ) excited for ya now!!!
-
Hi! We've been a little too busy with work( better be busy making $ to pay off this reno.. lol) and we've both fallen ill... And yeah, met Les over the weekend to get a dining table from him and her told me about u guys being childhood friends *nods... painting really makes a diff. as for the textured wall... it actually should be more raw and would have been more ideal if there where red / small bricks laid in it, however it was a solid concrete wall does we had to think of making use of it's natural textures. I really really love the door and light switches too.... hihi, we're still a little overwhelmed by the size of the kitchen, however, lets see how it looks after the cabinets are in (not much of it though as we did not want to crowd the kitchen). We hope the airy feel will still be maintained after a full length wooden panel is in place. A 1.5m suar wood bar top has also yet to be placed in.... the nipple switches were sourced by our ID from a shop in jalan basar, he was actually looking for something else and stubbled upon those switched (brand new!) and got us their left over stock Nice to know u like them ! How's yr reno?
-
Welcome to RenoTalk!!!! I like yr orh orh cat comment... hehee.... ps, my toilet is rather dark ... it's diff shades of dark gray. Maybe that's a colour you can consider if u still like dark toilets. All the best on yr reno process!!!
