  1. I believe you still can get quality furniture at Novena lah..just that design-wise, they might not be that trendy but their furniture won't burn a big hole in the pocket. I like Lifestorey and Molecule too but no budget for their items leh...simply too ex le...

    Curtains

Ya roman blinds are more ex compared to roller blinds..probably due to the amount of work put in to make one roman blind.....you can choose the fabric, either opaque or translucent....
  3. Agree with you. You can easily find other similar designs at half the price elsewhere.
  4. I duno...me not man lah....haha..... My entire bomb shelter wall costs me $600 for wallpaper....think in any case also cheaper than feature wall...me and my fiance decided we can live with the handle sticking out, so just go for wallpaper to make the door less ugly..cos we dun like the "door-within-door" kinda feel for feature wall...
  5. Actually from your picture looks ok what, dun have to be do complicated.....you want black glass? That area will have a lot of movements, you won't want so many fingerprints on it, v hard to maintain...for me, I am wallpapering my entire bomb shelter area cos I dun like the idea of doing up a tic-tac door just to hide the bomb shelter door....but using wallpaper you still can see the door handle of the BS, if you can't stand the door handle, the wall feature will be the choice
  6. I got the same black glass dining set at Novena but with different chairs. Not yet delivered but price has gone up by $100 to $599 already...
  7. I'm in the midst of my reno now and I must say the workers really do a good job, esp the painters. Went up last Sunday to take a look at my house and we were shocked to see 7 painters painting our house! They were all Bhangras and were really helpful. The painting is v good, no smudge on the edges unlike some friend's house that we gone too....painting was really neat and good. The workers were friendly too. I'm glad that my reno is in good hands. So far, I didn't really feel the need to go up and check too often as I have trust in them. Though much has been complimented abt Benedict, I still must say that he's a v responsible ID. Will be posting the pictures of my reno progress soon!
  8. 3k on bathroom and kitchen stuff a bit too much. Been to Lookz too but found their pricing too ex. In the end, we got all our bathroom and kitchen accessories at Bacera at Geylang. Got a square ceramic basin and mixer for mbr toilet, kitchen sink and tap, set of bathroom accessories, storage heater, chopping board and drainage basket for around 1200+.
  9. Very meaningful article. I find myself nodding in agreement that I had guiltily yearned to experience a new r/s when the initial phase of infatuation faded. That was the hardest time between me and my then-bf (now-fiance). We endured endless arguments and quarrels and even broke off and patched back a few times. Many times, I had wanted to let go of it all and start a new r/s with a new guy but what held me back was the happy moments we shared together. Simply put, I just can't bear to part with those memories...or him. Many what-ifs then appeared in my mind...what if the next guy who comes along didn't love me as much as my then-bf did? What if I regretted breaking up with him and would it be too late to turn back time?? What if it was only a moment of hot-headedness that led to this desire for a new experience?? Then I realised my desire for wanting to start a new r/s with a new guy was only a passing phase. It dawned on me that I was only looking for a new r/s just experience the excitement of being in a whole new r/s all over again. Once the fun fades, everything will be back to square one...quarrels, arguments etc etc. I decided it was not worth it. After all, my then-bf treats me really well and loved me alot. I don't think I could ever find a man like him again. So now, we are getting married after 5yrs+ of being together. I think a r/s takes time to develop and mature. I dare say that it's only after being together for 5 years that our r/s has more or less stabilised. No more thinking of new r/s, no more silly quarrels. Wholely agree with the article that it takes time, effort and energy. Sustaining a r/s is no easy task, much less enhancing it. If both parties are willing to put time and effort into it, I believe there will be lesser bitter feelings and lesser unhappiness.
  10. Actually, by right, since the contractors are in charge of submitting our permit, shouldn't they be chasing HDB instead of us?? Anyway, calling HDB to make noise does help. They definitely sped things up for my case, otherwise i won't know how long I would have to wait. I filled in their feedback form on their website and wrote a very frustrated feedback. The next day, the officer called me to explain and 2 days later, he called me back to say approved liao. You might want to try calling them to expedite. For me, 2 weeks wait is definitely too long liao.
  11. Wow...that's so romantic!!! Every girl would dream of a proposal like this!
  12. Hi, to ride on this topic, so it's ok if we haven't officially moved in but weekends stay over at our new house? Also, are there any bad implications if we sleep on our new bed? On the day of officially moving in, just change a new bedsheet?
  13. Agree with annpaul. Go to the shops he recommended you then go back recce a few more shops then compare pricing then decide. Ask him to give you the reno schedule as well. Although you cannot expect that they follow strictly to the recommended time frame, at least you know what's going to be done each week.
  14. Hi, sorry to hear your plight. I think you have every right to demand him to show you the 3D drawings. Otherwise, how are you going to visualise the outcome of your reno and whether you like it or not?!?? It's ridiculous that he didn't even showed you the drawings before he started the reno. My ID brought us to Geylang for the bathroom accessories and lightings too. Didn't get anything there the first time as we wanted to compare the pricing. Went to rackey the shops in balestier and in the end found that the prices from the shops he brought us to in Geylang are way cheaper. So in the end, we got all the bathroom and kitchen accessories from there. Hope your reno goes smoothly for you
  15. Hi, can check with you for your model number? I'm looking for washer too.....
  16. Hi, what's the model number of your washer? What's the price?
  17. Hi, could it be that it ran out of gas?? My current aircon always gives the same problem too....compressor stopped working and my indoor aircon unit just auto shut down and the lights kept blinking....asked the aircon repairman to come and repair and he said it's out of "gas"....have to top up.....paid about $120 servicing...
  18. Hi, are you referring to the gas water heater by Citygas? Have called them up and apparently, this needs to be placed where there is ventilation. I am interested in getting that too as it comes free if you signed up the citygas account. Was told that it works the same way as a storage heater. It also doesn't look as big and bulky as a storage heater. Apparently, monthly bill for gas heater is cheaper than electric ones...but by how much i'm not sure....
  19. Dun compare lah.....some guys are just not that open with their affections. I'm sure your hb shows his love for you in a different way. The grass is always greener on the other side. Humans compare humans, humans die. Haha...
  20. Cos for me, too many colours in the kitchen will make the kitchen look very cluttered, esp when you already have red. It's best not to have so many colours in one area. Then red, white and blue become US flag?? Haha....
  21. I've always liked a red and white kitchen. I would go for white walls. Red is already a very strong colour, you won't want to have a headache when you enter your kitchen. So since you already have got red as such a dominant colour, it's best to have a more neutral 2nd colour, otherwise the whole kitchen looks too messy. Unless you really want to have a bold kitchen concept, you can play around with many colours

    Bomb Shelter

Actually I was thinking of using something that is easily detachable to conceal it like painting or clock but not sure if it will look weird. I dun want to close fully as i'm afraid it will be very humid inside the shelter. Any of you done something like that?
  23. Err not sure what u mean by min processing time. But for any date you choose, there is always a timeframe, ie. earliest time and latest time, that you can book your date.
  24. We are allowed to close one and the other one must be left open right? What do you all do with the other ventilation hole??? If I take out the whole thing, is it very ugly to have a hole there?? Anyone done something detachable to conceal it? Any pics to share?
