Yup, was quite surprised with the progress too....he's quite fast but now there is a 2 week lag planned for the fabrication of carpentry at the factory...meantime, he will install the downlights and cove lightings for the false ceiling. We intend to spray paint our toilets and kitchen too so might have to push back the installation of carpentry to a later date, possibly end april....so expected reno completion changes from original end april to beg may !!

Ya, totally stressed out. My weekends are even worse than my normal working days. Physically and mentally exhausted. Hope our effort pays off in the end for our dream place. Haha ya....actually hadn't planned on such bold choice of colours. Our ID said for foyer, can go really dark all the way cos our place is quite spacious. So decided in the end to choose these colours. The pain of going through the ICI and Nippon catagloues are indescribable. Took quite some time for me to decide on the colours. My fiance is those "anything lah" kind so choices of colours are up to my discretion...haha....yup love fiery red walls! !! Realised you are staying at Bt Panjang too. Which part?? Resale or new?

!! OMG, finally got it...here goes....finally got time to do this... Finally! After 7 months from key collection, my reno has started! So exciting to see the progress day by day. Here are some pictures to share. Progress to date: - Hacking of half wall at Kitchen - False ceiling done - Painting done - Laminate flooring and platform at LR done - Electrical works done - Piping for washing machine done View from main door Kitchen Platform in LR Very tired from the all the reno stuff...all our Saturdays were spent sourcing lightings, accessories, funiture etc. With the wedding preps coming up, we were all stressed out. Reno scheduled to complete by early May. Hopefully it will turn out to be what we expected. So far, we are very pleased with our ID. He has given us very good service and were honest in his opinions. Let's see how the reno goes from here... will post more pictures... !!

It's always cheaper to let your contractor or ID do it together with your reno than to sub-out the kitchen works to a specialist. A 20ft kitchen done by a specialist can easily cost you 5K - 7K.

Hi Joyven, no problem! Glad you got a good deal for the curtains too! Ya I saw the piece of paper stuck outside my unit to ask workers not to smoke and to clear up their own rubbish too! Was quite surprised as most contractors won't even bother. Agree that the workers are all very efficient. Painting takes only 1 day and next day only to touch up. Laminate flooring for all rooms and platform **** room done within 2 days.....was quite surprised at their efficiency as I had expected some delays in my schedule....but they were very fast!

My reno is right on schedule too.....am also v happy with the services provided by Benedict Joyven, I see that you have gotten your curtains from Art Living too...how much did you spend on your curtains?

My fiance hates to go shopping with me becos he finds it very confusing and tiring.......cos we can walk walk walk then i will suddenly disappear into one store and he will be unable to find me....he finds it very mentally and physically draining and challenging for him becos he has to be on alert mode at all times to quickly notice which store i'm being sucked into...

I think it's nothing wrong being practical. What for go beyond your means just so that you can show ppl that you are not poor and can afford an expensive diamond?? Who are these ppl and what have they done to show that they are worth your attention?? At the end of the day, you have you yourself to thank if you have spent it on something truly worth spending and not on frivolous consumption that you can barely afford. For me, if I kp worrying abt how others is going to view me, I will be v bz and I simply dun think such ppl are worth my attention. My time is precious, I have better things to do than wasting it on shallow ppl

I know of somebody who is like that too...in fact, her diamond ring takes priority over marriage, looking for flat, booking banquet etc etc. Die die must have 1 carat diamond from her bf as proposal b4 she will accept....i think it's so stupid....poor guy has to save up so long just to throw it all away for a 1 carat diamond.....duno what these girls are thinking..duno what their priorities are also...no diamond means no marriage...like that forever no diamond then no need get married liao lah?!?! ...for me, i'd rather channel the money to do up my house swee-ier....

But I dun think ppl like platinum for the reason that it is more expensive than white gold but rather, it won't turn yellowish and that it's shinier and hardier than white gold....but ultimately it's a matter of personal preference and budget....my diamond ring is platinum but my wedding bands are white gold....see no point paying so much for plat rings too....

Haha same case here....fiance and I have diff taste. He can live with something simple but I want the house to well done up. So sometimes the things I want to add, he objects...it's v frustrating and we have had many quarrels too.....but now, we just compromise....things that are unnecessary and will add on cost, we just forgo....got to compromise lor..

Agree with casolyn that platinum is harder, that's y rings with same specs of diamonds can have quite big difference in pricing between white gold bands and platinum bands...platinum won't turn yellowish unlike white gold...platinum is also heavier than white gold, when dropped onto the floor, it will have a nice "cling" sound... Platinum can be re-sized too...

Hmm wallpaper also depends on the range you chose too...if u chose the more ex range, definitely your cost will be higher...if your false wall is gypsom board, then shd be quite cheap but plus your wallpaper, i think the cost would be the same as doing one feature wall....wallpaper not cheap also....for a large area would easily cost 600-1000... Not necessarily have to wallpaper your divider, of course if you have the budget then i suppose you can go for it...otherwise, i think too much wallpaper looks v messy too.... Y dun u ask your ID for advise?? I believe he can answer your questions better
