Spray Paint Wall Tiles
Air replied to lambie's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Agree with Mace. Poh chin indeed has the best price. Cost of spraying will definitely cost less than redoing one toilet....i got a quote once from an ID to hack away all my toilet tiles and re-tile, one toilet already cost $3k+.....now, I spray paint 2 toilet walls and floors + kitchen wall and floor costs me only 3K... -
Haha ya that time my ID passed me the 2 catalogues from ICI and Nippon to go home choose colours, I flipped back and forth until the pages came out and I almost puked then finally decided on those colours....now headache abt the colours for my spray paint for my bathrooms.... Actually I nvr choose all the colours from one brand. My colours are a mixture from ICI and Nippon. Sandstone is from ICI....maybe you can get that catalogue from your ID and go home and choose? Perhaps you can convince your FH to choose sand? The effect is very good....i like that colour a lot too....not too dark or too light....gam gam ho!! hahaha....ICI has more colours to choose from....I feel that Nippon colour range quite limited.... Nope...wanted to do that instead of replacing both but fiance thinks it's "disgusting"...so in the end we dismantled both and buy new WC and solid surface top for vanity top...

Hihi Luppy, welcome!! I'm in the same situation as you too. But i'm already in the midst of reno, ROM coming up. Alot of preps to do, photoshoot also coming up...very stressful yet excited at the same time..

Toilet and kitchen accessories would set you back by 1K to 2K+, depending on the kind and number of stuff you need. I spent about 1.2K on bathroom and kitchen stuff... -
Actually, in terms of quality-wise is pretty standard. I think at Lookz, what you are paying for is their so-called brand and the image they portray. I mean ceramic basin means ceramic basin, stainless steel means stainless steel. How much difference in material can u get when u compare against other shops??

Hey realised I've got almost the same lightings as you! Got those lights for my MBR too!! Mine is in silver...hehe
-
Muahahahaha....that's a good one...
-
Hey I chose lavender mist for our MBR too! Love that colour
-
I guess this happens to all couples in the reno stage too. We quarelled and argued very often too...haha...indeed v stressful.....like your design!! I think the end result would be worth it.
-
not yet spray painted though....the total cost of spraying 2 toilet walls and floors, kitchen wall and floor plus groutline whitening is $3000.
-
Wow! The drawings are very nice! Think your home will turn great!!

Vanity top dismantled. Intending to spray paint to something like this

No problem! Glad to share! Another option you can explore is overlaying your toilet tiles, but there is always the risk of tiles popping out in time to come if you have got hollow tiles. My ID told me that he has done this b4 and not long after, the tiles started popping out, so now he tried not to encourage overlaying of toilet tiles....but i guess it's up to individual lah...

Thanks!! Actually the timing of the spray painting is up you...you can engage David to come and do after your carpentry is up or before your carpentry is installed....David actually told us that it's better if he comes after the carpentry is up cos he can help to mend any chipped off tiles during the carpentry installation process. For us, we have already dismantled the vanity top and WC.....he said will come and spray the wall tiles first then after carpentry is up, he will come and do the floor tiles.... Yup will definitely post more pics....so far, our experience is good. Our ID is v prompt in getting back to us and updating us. Anything that needs to incur extra costs, he will call and ask us. I highlighted to him that the patching up for the half kitchen wall is very uneven and he agreed and mentioned that he will do something abt it. Rather proactive. Would give him thumbs up

Dismantling the toilet bowl or vanity top shouldn't affect the tiles if done carefully. I dismantled the existing ones that HDB gave me and am doing a solid surface top and cabinet underneath.....replaced with a new toilet bowl too..my tiles are not affected..Also, HDB might not be able to find the exact same tile as the flat is already more than 5 yrs....You shd ask your contractor to be careful when dismantling those... HDB will only rectify any defects before any reno work is done...After reno starts, HDB will not entertain any defect rectification as it is assumed that defect is caused by the reno works...

Agree that they are very ex...was approached by them when we went to the exhibition at Expo once...reluctantly sat downt ot discuss with them as I already knew they were already c ex....very pushy salesman....the ID came back with the quote and 3D drawings 2 weeks later.....gave me a very minimalist concept and cost is about 30k liao....some more they charge GST....which 5% amounts to quite alot! A bookcase easily cost $2k+......and kitchen cabinets cost around 4-5k when my kitchen area is pathetically small....needless to say, we dropped them immediately after looking at the quote.... The ID who served us was quite nice though....too bad their charges are too high... -
Thanks! Not exactly very new though....lease completion date is 2002....i think these were unsold flats re-launched by HDB. Haha ya the partition was after we hacked the original kitchen entrance...my original kitchen was v dark and small so we decided to hack away to form a half wall to allow more light into the kitchen...going to construct a glass for the top part

Spray Paint Wall Tiles
Air replied to lambie's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
David charges a lump sum...about $700-900 for walls and lump sum of $280 for floors. All others I've asked quoted about $5-7 per sq ft. -
Yup among those blocks.....it's the ones with green, white exterior.... We hated the ceramic tiles too but didn't want to waste money to change and we were very tight on controlling costs....so we'd rather channel the money elsewhere....if we had the budget, we'd change the toilet tiles too...
-
Thanks!! Waited for so long already..... Nope mine is more inside one...not near expressway....yup it's premium flat....comes with ceramic tiles....aren't changing to homo tiles cos no budget...too ex already....that's y we have a platform in our LR to see less of the tiles...
