  1. Wah if you're looking at 2009 then now is too early already....but the good thing is you are planning in Jan 09, so you might be able to negotiate with the hotel to extend the 08 package to you since your wedding is within the 1st qtr of 09....
  2. Ya then prices start to come down again and ppl start to hold dinners again...haha
  3. I used to keep telling those underlined in red to my hubby too...I think everyone goes through that stage.....in the intial stages of our reno, my hubby also like that....everything leave to me...ask him to do some things say ok ok but 2 weeks later ask him, still haven't done yet! That time i was really regretting getting married and wondering if i had made the wrong choice and if he's really the one for me...but after much arguments and quarrels and much tears shed, he's finally getting more proactive now..... Dun worry, when the time draws near, i believe he will start to get more involved...dun regret...actually the process is actually quite a fun one if both parties are really getting involved...maybe u and your hubby need to sit down and have a good talk..it's stressful to handle everything on one's own....jia you!! Hey Phantom, if you looking at Fridays or Sundays, the min table requirement is 32. Only Saturdays min table is 35. Maybe you can arrange for customary on Saturday then Sunday dinner...that's what we did too cos we couldn't meet the min table requirement for Saturdays and the price per table on Sat is much higher too... Ya banquet prices usually revise upwards every year...it's unthinkable what the prices will be 5 years down the road....maybe per table about 1.5K?? Vomit blood... Ya my hubby too....i was quite surprised by his attitude on our ROM day....he coordinated everything and gave instructions so he was practically running here and there....i only had to go around and mingle with my friends...haha.... Diva....you xin ku now but on actual day, leave everything to your hubby....you just had to look pretty and entertain your guests on that day....
  4. But Four Seasons not cheap leh...the most basic menu already 1000+ per table....but i like it a lot....too bad hubby doesn't like!! And intially he thinks it's too ex! Now with intercon, pricing also the same mah!! But intercon i also like lah...hehe.... Wah so boey zi dong still ask if can da bao ah?? Actually we plan to tell our coordinator that if the red wines finished liao, just tell the guests no more lor...have to limit our costs or else the bill is endless one lor....anyway mine is sunday, next day ppl got to work so think they probably won't drink much too...or maybe put a sign at every table...if you drink, don't drive...hehe....since majority of our guests will be driving, think they see the sign liao also pai seh to ask for more alcohol U smart...my hubby is already starting to regret why nvr offer help earlier now.... he needs on how to stop my incessant nagging...hehehe..
  5. Haha Linda...you very cute....but hor, dun quite understand the lines in red leh...abit the confused...
  6. Wow....i haven' logged on for 24 hours nia and the posts are already so long... Phantom, Jazz bridal not ex...i was quite surprised too...actually their packages are quite reasonable...i signed the package during roadshow...their service not bad also... Wah u all planning for so many bottles of wine ah?!? Hm...we only planning to order 24 bottles from the hotel leh....cos min order is 12 bottles.....wana limit costs....they only waive corkage for hard liquor but not red wine.... Meritus mandarin got pillars meh?? I just went there for my d&d leh....not bad leh....pillarless and high ceiling..the chandeliers are very nice too...but food cannot make it....all cold cold one...but maybe d&d menu always cannot make it.... Wow hey compassvale, is that four seasons?? Very nice! I wanted there too but very very ex....i love the ballroom....unfortunately, my hubby doesn't like it.....love the reception area and the huge huge washroom....heh heh...
  7. I paid off the last 10% le...after i made sure that the defects are rectified already then i paid them...but after that, still spotted a bit of defects like the laminate skirting popped out...i just call my ID and told him to get ppl to come and rectify lor... it's pretty fast though
  8. icic...heh heh.... Wah your hb paying everything ah?? Very chor leh...hmm...your hb really rich......me and my hb combine power also not enough....
  9. Ehh Korea....they won't accept cheques for final payment one lah...u go back see yoru contract again...i duno abt swissotel but most hotels won't accept cheques for final payment if you settle the remaining amount on your actual day...it's either cash or credit card...no cheques...cos cheques need a few days to clear....what if your cheque bounced then ppl play punk then hotel find who?!?! U go back and read the fine print and terms and conditions very carefully...think u missed out on a lot of things ah... Phantom, my bridal shop is Jazz bridal....my package is 3188 with car, 30 photos, blah blah blah.... Hey Xinyi, you signed with bridal concept at liang seah street? Then we are very near each other....haha....
  10. Ya me too even till now also spotted abit of defects here and there then on and off ask him to come and rectify....i didn't sign anything for the official handover...dun think there's a need to cos you will pay him the remaining part of the cost after you are completely satisfied
  11. Wah lau eh...phantom, your post really very da long Me and my hubby very broke now also....xin xin ku ku save up the money now kena sucked dry already....no choice...we budget constraint still want nice nice wedding....but once in a lifetime mah...how many times can u hold this?? So trying to save on shopping now....haven't gone for shopping spree for very long liao ....I'm also trying to psycho myself not to top up any more photos for my photoshoot.....actually the trick is to negotiate for more photos before you sign the bridal package so that you don't have to top up too much
  12. Mine was delayed for about a week cos carpentry needs more time to fabricate then defects rectification ding ding dong dong in the end, whole handover delayed for 2 weeks....we are ok cos already expected this kinda thing to happen...plus we don't need the house urgently so to us, 2 weeks is still ok...but if drag more than 2 weeks then need to @#$%^ the ID or contractor liao...
  13. wah lau like that one ah?!?! What a stupid reason to give!!....i think i better call them....
  14. I like your theme!! Very cozy and elegant....my theme will be something like too...had wanted a black red gold theme but decided not to in the end cos too black le and i don't want my parents and in-laws to faint when they go into the ballroom hehe.... But the good thing now is that there will be no more 1% cess charge, otherwise it's 18% ok...
  15. Ehh korea...your eventual pricing the GST is also 7% one lah...contract surely state "prevailing government tax" leh....u think they will charge you at 5% meh?
  16. Haha hey I love that theme too....thought it's something differnet from the usual white white weddings but I went to view the wedding set-up using this theme on a weekend and found that the tables are really too black lah...it will be nice if the chair covers are in gold or red....but chair covers also black..makes the whole ballroom look weird lor...the stage background will be in red too so if you wife is wearing red evenign gown, she will totally blend into the background...wait take photos cannot see her ok...i'm speaking for myself too cos my EG is red also...muahaha...so in the end, i decided to change my theme...haha...going to view more wedding with different themes again....might be getting the charming elegance theme....love the simplicity.... intercon is pretty strict on perks though....we tried negotiating for more freebies but they were quite firm on that....even negotiate for more car park passes also difficult cos they said they sharing carpark with bugis junction...the coordinator also told us that if your wedding is on a sat, it will be difficult to find parking lor...but since yours is on a weekday i dun think shd hv any problem... now that you have shortlisted, it shd be easier for you already...
  17. oh then good luck to you...heh heh !! then you might want to consider other hotels lor...frankly speaking, novotel quite good..i went there to view the ballroom before and was quite impressed...the ballroom is pillarless and high ceiling, the entire floor is yours too so the exclusivity factor is there, dun have to worry about confusion..the package isn't that ex too and if I rem correctly, their prices are nett prices, which means no GST..and you have 4 kinds of menu to chose from..prices vary from 600+ to 800+....quite reasonable..food is prepared by dragon phoenix restaurant...i think they can hold up to 40 tables....fits your requirements no?? But I'm talking abt 2007 pricing.....they might have revised the pricing for 2008 but still, worth considering...
  18. Hey what if bridegroom's family pay for part of the banquet then how?? The normal practice is say, bride's side request 10 tables. Then at the end of the dinner, the ang baos from the 10 tables go back to bride's family...means both of you will lugi 10 tables' money...but now modern days, it all depends on whether the bride's side demands to have the 10 tables ang baos given back to them or you both can take them all cos after all, both of you need the money more than they do...giving the money back to them is just a custom....must depends on how open bride's side parents are on this lor..... Ya then limit the number of friends you invite lor....invite only close friends...we also like that...if not, invite those tom dick or harry, in the end they might not turn up also....then u stress yourself by having to re-arrange the seatings again....i prefer to be surrounded by close friends and family on my big day...and not some ah cat ah dog that i haven't seen in years..i duno want to go..."ehh who are you" on my big day leh.. !!
  19. I had a ventilation window at my MBR that looks very unsightly too...had wanted my ID to remove and plaster the wall but they tried and couldn't remove it...in the end, i just covered with curtains...
  20. Hey ya lah..my per table pricing on sunday is also 888+ leh....you looking at weekday har??
  21. Yes! He is Kenny!! He was the one who served us intially but when we went down last Sat to choose the fabric for our sofa, was served by another guy called Eric. Actually asking them is useful meh? They surely will tell you they ordered the sofa liao mah....no?? But my delivery is in Aug...so maybe wait till 1 week before delivery then call??
  22. It's worrying to read this thread. I ordered a sofa and coffee table from the sungei kadut branch and delivery scheduled on 4 Aug. The salesman was pretty ok though....worried about the delivery now....hope nothing goes wrong....
  23. I got all my stuff from IKEA....DIY one...very simple one....but mine don't have display cabinets....only a countertop.....can check out the pic in my blog

    Curtains

I think you got a pretty good deal....we increased the curtains because i added a night curtain for my LR and a full length curtain in my MBR to cover the air con window.....ya that's what she told us too...she also showed us the diff between normal curtain tracks and her curtain tracks....seemed more sturdy.....best thing is the warranty.....the velcro for my string curtains is also better quality than normal ones.... Sorry, can't comment on quality cos my curtains not up yet.....supposedly up last week but they got held up and we didn't want to wait so postponed to this week....will update once i've got the curtains up...
