to me, all agencies are the same. the element of luck plays a part in getting the maid. Trust me, I had ever paid $988 agency fees and $88 agency fees over the last 4 years since my daughter was born. I would say that the maids provided, in terms of intelligence, the agency which collected $988 from me is much better than the $88 ones. But attitude-wise, it really depends on the maids themselves. To me, all agencies are the same but experience tells me to opt for an agency nearer to your home. Why? in case you got problem with the maid, you can cut short on the travelling time. And believe me, I am sure 10 out of 8 helpers, you will need to bring the maid back a couple of times.

personal opinion is that it's a waste of money. but being first-time parents then, we thought that it would be good to attend and learn something. But after we attended, we realize we learn nothing at all...hahaha...

my ID company also guarantee 5 years BUT it's only for works that you paid. For those free items which you negotiated, it's not covered under the guarantee.

hey, people....relax...forum is for us to discuss and share...no need to get worked up with each other. i think papbestdad is trying to play the role of devil's advocate here. he's not wrong and was trying to paint a different scenario so that TS will be more prepared. But maybe he was a bit strong in using the sentence "baseless statement by people who don't know much but act as if they know a lot." IMHO, i think that once HLE is approved, they will PROBABLY not ask you if you had changed job. Like TS mentioned in his last posting, if HDB is so concerned with regards to people changing job, they might as well give on-the-spot approval and demand that you sign there and then. I am sure that when the HLE is approved, a series of credit check had been run against the applicant(s) and it has been deemed that the applicant(s) will have the means to repay the loan. They will evaluate the credit history of the applicant and not just base on a piece of payslip to determine if the criteria is met or not.

ya....i second hposnm's suggestion. Cool Serve dun push you to buy their products or sign up with them. Their customer service is excellent and the repair guy is honest with his findings

Anyone Staying In Highest Floor?
fanguojun replied to poseidon_gal's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
ya...i think a lot depends on facing. for mine, corner unit (door to door) at mature estate (since 1978), it's not hot and it's bright. -

i recommend Ah Keong too. He did my condo and subsequently my resale flat as well. Great service and friendly guy. He will also advise you how many downlights are required, where to place them to ensure maximum light coverage

dun know if there's any hidden charges or abt the upgraded package they are now fixing the new air-con at my place. i was quoted in $3017.40 in total for a Mitsubishi Electric System 3 inverter (9000 BTU each) plus a stainless steel bracket. Saw in Best Denki that it's going cheaper around $2.6k for a ME Sys 3 with installation. Dun know I was "chopped" by CoolServe or not but the initial experience i had with them was very pleasing thus I signed with them

how's your experience with Gain City? I had compared Cool Serve with a couple of other vendors like Gain City and Best Tech. Indeed, Cool Serve is on the higher side but I am impressed by their service so far (had made use of their free air con check service). I dun mind paying $200 more if Cool Serve service is better

has anyone engaged their services i.e. installation of air-con? Any comments? Or anyone has got better lobangs for purchasing a System 3 air con?

Use dryer, unless you don't intend to do heavy cooking. I assume that your backyard is just outside the kitchen, so imagine how smelly your clothes will be when you are cooking and the smoke gets onto the clothes being hanged. I had even thought about using those pull out system but the management shot it down. To them, they consider clothes hanging out from the unit unsightly. But that's for new condo lor, those older ones, maybe they dun care. So best is to check with your condo management

selection of colors is normally done during the sales stage. When you made the downpayment, they would have already ask you what kind of colors and materials that you want. as for collection, upon TOP, they will contact your lawyer as what yoongf said. But the wait can be quite long if your condo has got many units as they will hand out the keys in batches. I remembered that for my condo, it took more more than 8 weeks after TOP to get the keys while some neighbouring blocks got it earlier

thanks for all the replies. had arranged for technician to check the air-con tmr. Did a test last night by switching off all the electrical appliances that I had and monitor how fast the meter spins. It seems that my downlights and refrigerator are the main "suckers". However, my F&P fridge had 4 ticks (enegry saving) and checking on nccc.gov.sg, my particular model's electrical bill consumption should be in the range of $131 per year only. Does anyone knows if increasing / decreasing the refrigerator's temperature will have an impact? Or should I ask a technician to check as well since the fridge was stored in a warehouse for 6 months while i was scouring for a new place after I had sold off my previous unit? Yup, I kept the air-con at the recommended 25 degrees and it's a system 3. For cooking, i am using the normal gas hob. Will change the downlights to those energy savings one and see what happens. When I bought from the lightings from the shop, I had specifically asked for energy saving tubes. Guess they might have smoked me or simply i had too many downlights switched on. (3 downlights with each double tube 18W)
