Here's our choice of tiles: Long distressed-looking "wooden-plank effect" tile with texture and discolouration Vine maple laminate from Innova for the Master Bedroom floors Combination of toilet tiles for the guest toilet Combination of toilet tiles for the master toilet Still looking for a ma tong and some sinks for the toilet, which should come next. Also looking for 2 pendant lamps (one for the hallway, and one for the dining table). The budgeting is pretty scary; a lot of things not bought yet which will add to the total. Stress

Hey folks! Here's some reno pics: Hall after hacking off tiles Kitchen tiles almost all hacked off Warzone The floors should all be gone now; but the walls are still awaiting HDB permit to get hacked. Hope this goes through smoothly.

It's about $50K on the reno (hopefully this will be less) and about maybe $20K+ on the furniture / fixtures / appliances. Still not really worked out a very detailed cost estimate, but $70K is about we have in mind for everything.

Yeah we're like always at conflict - design vs usability. We'll leave it to the ID to mediate! Sounds like a marriage counsellor! Hahaha

Make me feel so embarrassed for the lack of updates! Hehe I've gotten the 3Ds already, but I didn't want to post them up cos they didn't really look very nice. I'll be taking some pics when I get the keys on Friday. Will share then How's your place? Looks really nice! Would love to check it out.

Thanks for the love and encouragement pinkwhale! Big hug

Hi folks! I'm wondering if anyone follows my t-blog anymore since I haven't been updating much. Drop me a shout out if you still are. In any case, we're getting our keys on Friday! Woohoo!!! The wife-to-be and I have conflicting views - I like wood for the open concept living / dining / kitchen, but she says kitchen has to be waterproof. We're looking at Kronotex (Mammut range), engineered wood floors from Floorich, or wood-patterned floor tiles (which I least prefer). Will be talking through the different materials this weekend, and hopefully confirming the scope of works shortly. More pics and info to come! Stay tuned!

Hi BlackSesame, Yes my reno is starting pretty soon; unfortunately I still haven't tied down what kind of look I want and my budget Reno peak should be just after 7th month, with most aiming to complete their reno before the end of the year. I haven't got my sanitary wares yet; although I've gotten my toilet fixtures (everything from Grohe). For sanitary wares, I've been checking out a few places around Jalan Besar. I think Adamas is probably one of the better priced ones. They carry Toto sanitary ware too; but much cheaper than the showroom. I suggest you take a look at Sim Siang Choon just to get an idea of what are some of the brands / prices / designs available. Ask the salesperson as many questions as possible about pipe distance from the WC, what kind of flush system, how much water capacity etc. I also suggest you go for the not-so-water-efficient WCs. The ones with higher water efficiency probably won't flush very well. You might need 2 flushes to flush down waste After that, look around at the other places and compare prices. I think there are other threads in renotalk you can find information about sanitary wares too. Hope this little nugget of information is helpful!

Hi gaikusean, I do like the stuff on your link: a very good mix of old and new, pratical and whimsical and very good blend of textures and materials too! I think you have a very good eye and you'll make a very good ID in the future (if that's the direction you're going). In fact, I would encourage you to go along that path since you're already interested. And again, thanks for all the help and inspirations.

Hi BlackSesame, I will share my ID later once my place is done up nicely Must wait until I see the quality of his contractor's work and some of his designs; I have been meeting with him a couple of times to choose materials. However, I haven't received much in terms of visuals yet. All the styles are depicted in my posts are my work / idea - can I be your ID?

Need Help For My Flooring
timothyng27 replied to pinkdust's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Sigh. Don't know what went wrong with the links I pasted. Maybe they got shortened. Anyway, I think it's best you hack the floor also; a little difficult to do anything contemporary with the green marble flooring. Alternatively you can do laminate flooring. -

Actually the marble is not really that bad - still got quite a lot of white. But the problem is the tile looks like there's many separate pieces of different coloured stones; a little disjointed. Still you can try to make it part of the design / colour scheme. Here's some images for your consideration: http://jaimabrown.co...ower72-copy.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot...serie+entry.jpg http://www.polyvore....AAAAEc2l6ZQ.jpg Sorry I can't paste as images -
Need Help For My Flooring
timothyng27 replied to pinkdust's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
The green marble looks very 1970s or 1980s - very outdated. I had the same problem when my parents moved house. They say the marble very expensive and the floor area very big so very expensive to hack and make new tiles. If the marble was white with very few markings it would be easy to match and keep. However green is a very tough colour to match and decorate. I think a good idea to cover up would be to use laminate flooring. Alternatively, you could go for a very retro-chinese kind of looks. Use a lot of rosewood and slightly darker red / brown colours to complement the green marble. -
Hi newnyew, Sorry to disappoint - I don't have a collection of Evian bottles, but I really really do like their designs. I like the water droplet one. I think a whole lot of them would make awesome-looking accessories or containers for soap! Do you have any idea where I can find them? Alternatively I do think shells and starfish would look pretty too

Clean and area well demarcated out by colour Again, very nice coloured wall tiles Interested mosaic tiled halfway up the wall with a white paint background The water-y green gives a very calm feel, very spa-like Maybe I can decorate the bathroom with limited edition Evian bottles Hope you like! Will ask my ID what he thinks too

I'm totally in love with the aquamarine / turquoise colour, and would like a bathroom which evokes the feeling of interacting with water. I'm thinking bathing or showering or using the WC shouldn't just be about the toilet accessories, but the overall experience. Colour and texture, especially colours like acquamarine, ocean blue, sea foam green will give the bathroom a more welcoming feel. I also like fishing, and being in a boat in the middle of the sea, so this kind of "theme" fits me quite well. Here's some photos to explain what I mean in more detail: I know this is a little "over" but at least it serves to illustrate what I mean These acqua wall tiles are pretty nice Love the mosaic Simple wall paint with very cute shelves and starfish as decorations More pics to follow...

Hi folks, Sorry for the lack of updates. I'll be getting my keys only on September 10th, which means my reno officially starts on September 11th. Haha In any case, right now I've already appointed my ID, have taken a first look at my tiles and colours, ordered my toilet accessories, but I still haven't got my 3Ds yet. Hehe adidaem, thanks for the pics! I pretty much know what to do with my entryway and kitchen already. Living room and bedrooms probably still needs some work. Have also shortlisted some pieces for a TV console and maybe sofa. Mum might be sponsoring my TV! Yay!

Documenting Our Journey Of Our Loveshack

I wanna get a 55" TV as well - but probably will do without the 3D. A normal 55" LG smart TV with Apps should be about $2500++ And don't buy Sealy, get a Serta! Just my humble opinion though hehe Ekornes recliners are the most awesomely comfortable! I want one too - but too expensive -
Hi frigginfuschia, Love your new place! Will I be seeing it in "Home & Decor" anytime soon?

Am I the only one who thinks this looks nice?
