1. hi sleek, yes this is the same one. don't know why but it looks shallower in the picture on the website. In real life the depth looks ok. The Toto one looks deeper cos it's undermounted. If I mount the Gaia basin under a counter top I think it might look deeper or as deep as the Toto one. Hope this helps
2. Hi sleek, I didn't end up getting this toto one from adamas. I bought the gaia one to make an long, deep undermounted sink. I bought it from Sim Siang Choon. Was about $340+ or something
3. From what I heard, central BKK looks ok. Hope Yingluck can build enough dams and canals and sandbags to keep the flood water from ruining my trip Sorry if I trivialized what's going on there. I would like to postpone, but I can't since I bought the Bangkok travel coupons from deal.com.sg Just cross my fingers and hope everything turns out ok la.
4. It's about 25-28 cubic metres. I totally have no clue how big that is, but it does sound pretty freaking big. Can probably fit my whole house furniture (and probably yours) into it, so it does make a lot of sense to share and ship in. Only problem is the quality and reliability of not just the furniture, but the logistics also.....
5. Very sad Suan lum has a lot a lot of cool stuff when I visited the last time. Will really miss it. One good source of clothes and furniture down. Siannnnn
6. Heya frigginfuschia! Somehow I have been bitten by the vintage / pre-loved bug too. Have been spending hours going through junk store stuff and Salvation Army stores too! I bought this super nice ship lamp from Heritage Centre at Jalan Sultan. Tried painting it over but it doesn't look very nice. I think I need to scrape off / sandpaper the outer layer first and paint over a coat of white before putting on the paint color I like (Moss Rose - which is a very cool shade of pink ) Do you have a spray paint machine I could possibly borrow? By the way, there's tons of stuff out there you could re-hab yourself. Go check out Praisehaven / Salvation Army at Upper Bukit Timah and Upper Serangoon road. I found quite a lot of cool stuff lying around going for a dime. Saw a sofa I liked going pretty cheap; but I need to re-upholster. Any lobangs for cheap upholstery? Let me know if you wanna go check it out; I can send you some pics I took there. Maybe we can go together too
7. Also folks, I'll be going to Bangkok this Thursday to check out some places. Hopefully it doesn't flood if not will be super power ultra sian. Places I'll (hopefully) be checking out: - Hawaii 5-0 - Joe's Beautiful Objects - Crystal Design Centre - Suan Lum Night Market - Chatuchak Market Have checked out the logistics, and it costs about SGD $2K to get a container to ship stuff back. Anyone keen to buy anything there?
8. Ok folks, here goes: I'll be using the long top left tile (which is upside down) as a border for my entrance-way. Will be using a combination of some of the other tiles elsewhere. I've seen replicas sold in some other tiles shops at Balestier, but this here is the real deal. The uncles at Tong Mern Sern salvage these from houses that are being re-done, so each piece literally has decades of history behind it. Each piece is really beautiful and has its own flavour. More importantly, it's really unique and difficult to find. Cost-wise, also much cheaper than doing a feature wall. Been seeing a lot of white brick feature walls too, so wanted something a little different. I hope this will brighten up my entrance-way somewhat and make it more welcoming. And here's a really nice retro lamp I bought which I felt in love with at first sight! I bought 2 of these for the entrance-way
9. Fridge and washer sold! Anyway, I ended up buying some really nice Peranakan tiles from Tong Mern Sern to line my walkway (which is about 4m long). Needed about 27 small tiles which cost quite a bit. I overheard that some of these tiles are more than 100 years old! Anyone keen to see which ones I got? Seems like no one is following my T-blog anymore
10.

Both the washer and fridge are about 2 to 2.5 years old, and in good condition as they are hardly used. My friend is letting go as she just sold her previously tenantend house. Fridge - Panasonic NR-B301M Washer - Sanyo ASW-A95HY
11. Some more great stuff I saw at Heritage Centre. Great orange public telephone (I saw this in someone else's T-blog). Unfortunately it doesn't work Collection of all sorts of hanging lamps Very nice Dutch-inspired vintage wall lamp. Really like this but it's pretty big Turkish-style hanging lamp Antique ship lamp which I bought. Will paint this Fuschia and put it in a corner as a pendant. I've also been looking at Salvation Army for some nice interesting pieces I can refurbish to have that "Like That One" look. Will post updates and pics again soon! Btw, the house is slowly taking shape but a little boring to keep showing progress pics with concrete and sand etc. Will update more once tiling and carpentry takes place.
12. Some more awesome pics (of some stuff I'd like to buy): Interesting wall lamp I can put on my corridor wall. Would be interesting if I painted this a shade of acquamarine: Awesome authentic retro Peranakan tiles Lookalike of "The Chair" which I think is really cool. Pity only 1 piece Nice scandi-looking side table The 2 uncles there were also super friendly and helpful. Might head there again for more browsing or shopping soon
13. Been pretty inspired by my Aunt and Uncle's place - they have tons of local / perankan antique pieces. saw some nice interesting shops from adidaem's list of shops. I think some of the items really have character, and since my place is Scandinavian-themed, we need interesting pieces with tons of character to offset the slightly muted look. I've checked out Junkie's Corner at Jalan Senang, Heritage Centre at Jalan Sultan (I bought a nice ship lamp here), and also Tong Mern Sern at Craig Road. They all have tons of interesting stuff which make really good statement pieces. Without further ado, here are some pics I took from Tong Mern Sern. Might be heading back to buy some authentic retro tiles. Tons of stuff along the corridors: Beautiful decorative plates along the stairwell: Tons of awesome retro clocks: Pictures / mirrors / signs along the walls:
14. Anyway folks, on a side note, is anyone looking for a washing machine and fridge? I am helping a friend sell both for $700 (cash & self-carry). Condition is pretty new. Let me know if you're interested and I can provide more details.
15. I got mine from Adamas already. Pretty excited about the toilets. Will turn out pretty awesome I think
16. hello there, i would like to recommend a company called decora. they do plasters and paints, and their workmanship is pretty good. if you'd like PM me and i'll send you details of my friend who is working there. cheers!
17. Yeah the Toto ones are **** nice. Don't know if it's the lighting or what... High chance I'm going with the inset one cos I like the green glass look. But I'll have to go Adamas at Jalan Besar to check if they have stock. It's much cheaper than the Toto showroom. They straight up give 30% off list price (but plus GST). I'll be going there tomorrow to see if I can work out a package for my WCs, basins, hoods, hubs and heaters.
18. Basins! Inset Master Basin from Toto LW 595 BR Price: $497 Vanity Master Basin from Toto BA 0242 Price: $529 Gaia 80 basin from somewhere along Balestier Price: $347.74 Hatria "You & Me" Washbasin for Guest washroom Price: $288
19. thanks! i can't wait for them to start tiling too. very very excited to see how it'll turn out
20. Pretty sure it's do-able. Bought the wall mounting etc liao. now just looking for the wall hung toilet. Think he's making a fake wall to conceal everything, so should be no problem. Yeah feeling the pinch man. but leave the furniture til late liao la
21. More toilet stuff after visiting Toto and SSC today. Toto staff were so rude, totally bo chup me. I just ended up taking photos by myself. Will go to Adamas to get them for cheaper. But have to say, they do have nice stuff. Here's the pics: Toto wall-hung WC CW863 NPJ - I super like this. Maybe it's the lighting, but this looks really nice List price: $542 Toto normal WC for the guest bathroom CW862 NJ - Reminds me of a pelican, but pretty cool List price:$779 Another normal Toto WC for the guest bathroom CW661 JT1 - Looks like any other WC List price: $685 SIMS WC from Sim Siang Choon - #91469 List price: $201.77 Toto is **** helluva expensive. Might just go with the hanging toilet and the SIMs one from Sim Siang Choon. I wonder how much cheaper I can get Toto from Adamas and elsewhere. Anyone got lobang please PM me
