  1. This one I'm sure my ID will do up properly for me. But in any case, we're on the top floor, so if anything our neighbours downstairs will kena, not us also
  2. Hi Goobi, We spray painted the lamp already. It actually looks quite nice now. Looks newer and cleanere a bit. But the vintage look also quite nice la. Still it should be quite unique. I think end of November once everything is more finished up then I bring you to check it out. Kitchen sink and all sink actually we bought liao. Go to Jalan Besar area near the Sungei Road market. A lot of basins there.
  3. Hello folks! How are you all doing? Again, sorry for the lack of updates. Right now everything is proceeding a little slow; am a little disappointed by the lack of progress. Nevertheless; some verbal updates: 1. Toilets (both master and guest) are fully tiled up 2. Floor tiles (extended from the hall to the kitchen) are also almost completed 3. Exposed walls have all been plastered 4. False ceiling for hall has also been completed 5. Wall tiles for kitchen also done We're still waiting for: 1. Peranakan tiles to be laid on the entrance walkway 2. MBR floor (laminate flooring) to be laid 3. Carpentry works to be finalized - laminates already chosen' 4. Sealant to be applied for walls 5. Veneers to be chosen for wooden cabinets / benches I'll try to avoid posting pics of the reno, as that really isn't too interesting. It's like empty concrete walls, and incomplete stuff; not really very impressive. Will show pics only after everything is really up and ready for "photoshoot". At least got a little suspense. Haha
  4. Hi Always Happy, Just sent you the price list! Please mentioned Timothy from Singapore referred you Thanks!
  5. Ok - here comes the fun part, the stuff we bought from BKK. Retro-looking sunburst style round mirror: This was love at first sight for the GF and me. We were trawling through the whole of Chatuchak market etc and ended up at Rod Fai market, where we went through shop after shop of old but not-very-nice stuff. Was walking through the rain and getting grumpy and tired until we saw this gem. Liked how the texture was a little faux rusted-looking and textured. Bargained and bought it for about $150, and hand carried it on board the plane. Put it in oversized luggage where they slapped it with "fragile" stickers - it weighs 6.6kg! Classic wooden dining chair: Really like the simplicity and timelessness of this piece. Looks a little like a really old skool rocking chair, and the pieces at the back remind me a bit of the peacock chair I like. Tall dining stools: Were pretty thrilled to find matching stools (although the colour is a little bit off). Might have to trim 9cm off the legs for it to fit our tall counter. Hope it doesn't look too stumpy.
  6. Ok just SMSed you. Their address is Nobel Design, 134 Joo Seng Road #03-01. They have very nice materials there also, some tiles etc. But their paintwork is very good.
  7. Hey frigginfuschia! Yeah pretty glad the weather held up well. I heard it just got worse with northern parts of Bangkok starting to flood. Good timing for me I guess. Ok will go check out Nippon Pylox. Just spray and that's all right? Sorry very noob at this Just sandpapered and wire brushed the whole lamp until it's pretty clean today.
  8. hi marcel, please pm me your email address, and i'll send it to you
  9. Another nice retro sofa: Really love the purple on this sofa.Pity it's obscured: Thought this was quite cute, but a little too common so didn't buy in the end: Another nice clock I like (the orange hands are much nicer in real life): Pity this wasn't on sale though. Sigh. In the end we only managed to confirm (more or less) our dining chairs and stools. Also managed to pick up a nice sunburst style mirror from this vintage market called Rod Fai Market near Chatuchak.
  10. Also check out Papaya. Monster warehouse with tons of cool thing. Papaya is so cool that even the Green Lantern, Batman, The Flash and Spiderman hang out here: Really really awesome looking yellow study table: Tubby fat chair (saw this in pink and purple at Tuba). Pretty cool: Long retro sofa: Teddy bear chair:
  11. Sorry for the double post. Clicked the back button and thought I didn't reply yet. Anyway here's more pics! We checked out this little outdoor enclave at Tuba, and discovered.... Outdoor "courtyard" area with nice overhanging banyan roots: View from the entrance: Very nice seating area (love the L-shaped sofa and coffee table): And......an AWESOME RETRO GIANT SEIKO WALL CLOCK!! Close-up: It's pretty magnificent... but pity I couldn't possibly carry it back. Was going for about $800 SGD if I remember correctly. Not sure if it is working too. Would be an awesome collection to almost any wall. A little bit wasted.
  12. Hi Industrial, Tuba is extremely cluttered, but so are a lot of the shops there. I think Tuba doesn't really have too much, but do check out Papaya (also owned by the owner of Tuba). It's a massive 3 or 4 storey warehouse with all sorts of good stuff. But need a good 1-2 hours to sieve through. Some of it is not for sale too. Hawaii Five-O is a pretty small and cluttered place too, but Khun Satit is a very very nice guy. Offered to go out and buy us drinks. His selection is also pretty nice, prices a little little ex though. Will post more pics now

  14. Hmmm I think I'll probably get them to ship over the furniture (not a containerload though), and I'll try to borrow my contractors lorry to collect if possible. Maybe pay a small token fee if they're agreeable....
  15. I don't think Tuba tries too hard. I just think Tuba is wayyyy to eclectic for me, maybe even bordering on being a little weird / freaky. Yes my job is pretty flexible (but don't tell my bosses)
  16. Day 2: Had breakfast at Siam Paragon before heading over to Hawaii Five-O. Met Khun Satit, who is a very warm and extremely approachable guy. Hawaii Five-O is a little messy, but contains really nice mid modern century pieces which I like. He mentioned he can customize the fabrics and wood, and also the woodwork. We saw 2 pieces we really liked and are probably ordering through email. He'll get a quotation for shipping, customize to our exact specifications, and then work out the deposit and payment and shipping. Here's some pics: More pics to come!
  17. More Tuba pics. I didn't really like any particular pieces there; combined they looked a little rojak-like. But the furnishings and feel is really eclectic. Definitely interesting, has personality and makes for colourful photos. Nice Chinese / Peranakan style doorway: Another cosy chill out corner: Dining table area with a monster pendant lamp: Wine rack and misc display cabinet:
  18. Ok folks; just got back from Bangkok on Sunday. Thankfully no flood! A little bit of rain here and there; but we brought ponchos and an umbrella, so we were mostly covered Our itinerary was super packed for the 3 days we were there. Arrived on Thursday about 3pm and flew off Sunday morning. Very rushed. Despite this, we managed to go to Crystal Design Centre (CDC), Tuba, Joe's Beautiful Objects, Hawaii Five-O, Danish Design, Chatuchak Market, Platinum Mall, Papaya and Rod Fai Market. Day 1 Checked in at the hotel and straight away went to Platinum Mall for some speed shopping. The other half bought tons of dresses and tops, while I found nothing that I liked or could fit Went back to the hotel to dump our purchases and headed over to Tuba for dinner and drinks. Tuba, which is somewhere around Thong Lor or Ekkamai (still not too sure of the directions) was just next door to all the other retro shops (Joe's BO, Hawaii Five-O, Danish Design etc). Was super excited when I finally found the place and saw all the other shops nearby Dinner at Tuba was pretty decent. A lot of Ang Mohs around, but the place was really eclectic, with a very weird and interesting mish mash of pieces, art, sculpture, figurines etc. The boss also seems to have a penchant for the nude female form (as seen from a lot of artwork). Here's some pics I took (on Day 2): Entranceway: Superman stands just next to the door: Seating area with a view of the bar counter (and Darth Maul): Groovy lights at another cosy corner:
  19. Wow... this is really good stuff! Thanks! Rust retarded and retarded rust and rusting retardant all sounds **** funny to me... But it's just me being stupid Do I need a base colour before (eg.white) I paint it over with the fuschia paint? And is there any particular kind of paint I should be using?
  20. Hey gaikusean, thanks for the tip! Someone else told me the same thing too, just that i don't know any car spray painting shops. If I just step in to the shop like that surely will kena chop carrot one! Haha... another friend told me to use Tamiya car spray paint. In the meantime I'll just sand it out with sandpaper first.
  21. Hi Defelio, How much did you get your fan for, and where did you buy it at? Also, were any other similar models / finishings available? Sorry for all the questions, but I have a serious case of fan-envy. Really need one like that for my place too. Thanks!
  22. Thanks! Will go check it out. Do you have the address? Can't seem to find anything on Google about it. Anyway I posted something on your T-blog. Wanted to find out how to restore the old ship lamp I bought (pictured below) I wanna sand it and smoothen it and paint it a shade of FUSCHIA. Any tips, or a spray paint gun I could borrow?
  23. XTRA sounds expensive - any idea how much he paid for his? I have been getting the rest of my KDK fans in JB for a pretty good price (about half the price here), so I don't wanna burst my budget with this. I'll check around and see if there's anything similar and cheaper elsewhere. Sadly, only this kind of fan will fit in functionality and aesthetic-wise. Might really have to bargain hard. Hehe
  24. Hi pinkwhale. 2k includes everything (shipping, import/ export taxes, handling etc). But I'm pretty sure it doesn't cover delivery of items to your house and warehousing. Can you pm me your email address? I can forward you the detailed quote I received from someone from Natha Logistics. Here's a screenshot with details too: Chances are, I won't be bringing in anything in a container. I think a container is too much capacity and individual logistics and delivery will probably be a nightmare. I'll just go recce and see if they ship and deliver individual pieces for furniture, and pick up some smaller decorative items (rugs, clocks, table lamps, kitchenware etc) if I see them. And fingers crossed about the flooding!
  25. By the way, I will be having to get a smaller ceiling fan due to the projector being installed in the living room ceiling. Does anyone know where in Singapore I can get something like this, and if it's allowed by the HDB / PUB? I know the model is called the Minka Aire Gyrette, but any other fan that looks alike can be considered.
