I am more skeptical about the workmanship after 2 - 3 years of reside. I hope to pay for something that will last me a good no. of years, at least 5 - 8 years, given my character, a pair of birkenstock can last me 7 years!!!!! hahahaha Reason i asked for this favour is i have 3 ex-colleagues that went with 3 of the ID firms in the Shortlist 10 IDs respectively and the result after 1 years, 2 years and 18 months respectively was not good. They have problems with kitchen cupboards laminate bubbling, bathroom wall tiles uneven, sudden cracking homogenous floor tiles in bedroom, false ceiling cracklines, customised anti-slam drawers which they paid a lot for suddenly becomes jammed more than 6 times a year and called for servicing with the brand, which i cannot recall which one...and guess what, they say its not their product. WTH... Let me know if its fine for you ok? I will just only peep at your flooring, kitchen if you have them done it for you. These are the costly ones and top in my priority to do list. I think some IDs do not provide a quotation for me to bring home is common. I met with 5 and 4 of them refused to give me the quotations. But i see them on the spot and i take my time (hahaha at least 2 hours) to see them especially their materials and measurements to make sure i am getting the best stuff as offered by the IDs. 3 of them took almost 2 weeks to do up the quotations, the other 2 took 2 days to show me the quote. And the prices took my breathe away hahahaha Because i was in advertising trade, so i guess i can understand where that policy came from. Its kindda standard across MNC. Code of Ethic But sadly enough none can offer me the design i really want. Honestly, i think i will look at the past jobs they have done, if possible to visit to one of the actual completed units would suffice.

Hi Just married and planning to nominate an ID to do up my newly bought resale unit 4 room in Jurong West extension. I am looking around in exhibitions and magazines.....etc.. cannot seem to click with any IDs. Looking at mediterranean style.. blue, white, ocean green..mirrors, glass panels My parents engaged Line werks, previously for their Pasir Ris Unit 4 years back Balinese style and wants me to use them too because my dad likes their design and says their workmanship quite good, so far no issue, nothing falls off yet, but i have not approached them yet as i am open to other options, i want to compare first.. but definitely not contractors!!!! Heard and seen many about contractors not doing a good job for my friends' new house and one even ran away with the 20% deposit and gone MIA, take them up to CASE but nothing fruitful. So i believe cheap cost does not give you good for value work done. Anyone got any suggestion? Budget at $40K - $45K, do flooring, do kitchen, do 2 bathrooms, repainting, carpentry, lightings, rewiring (Unit is more than 20 years old, do i need to redo copper pipes too?)
