I bought the Magic Holder too, but from Howard Storage World at more than double the price listed in Amazon. Did you get the one that can slide? -
Could it be that your hob is using battery for ignition; and the access to the battery compartment is under the hob? My previous hob was designed like that, but my new hob, the battery compartment is from the top, so no need to reach under the hob. My new hob came with the black tape, but the for the previous hob, it was never sealed. The inside of my cabinet is white, different from the outside surface.

Hi, I used Ikea as a guide line, the min distance between their lower and upper cabinet is 55cm. I find the local carpenters like to put the cabinet higher, but when it is higher, it makes it more difficult to reach for things on the higher shelves, at 55cm, I can still reach for things easily on the 2nd shelf in the upper cabinet. don't forget to take the thickness of the solid top and the height of your faucet into consideration when planning, and also make provision for the hood (usually the installation instruction for the hood will specify a minimum height for it to be installed away from the hob), which means the upper cabinet housing your hood will be higher than the rest and you will need more wall tiles there. Hope that helps. -
Thank you! I wanted to get a sink where I can place the cutting board over, as my hubby cooks a lot and he is very careless and untidy and usually messes up the whole kitchen top. The first sink we wanted to buy was a Blanco sink from Hoe Kee, but it comes with a price tag of close to $3000.00 and the bowl is on the wrong side and doesn't include the accessories. When I found this on the internet, and Amazon does ship it direct, we bought it immediately. I paid around US$1,000.00 for it, don't have the exact breakdown because I bought more than 1 item. the sink itself is US$787.50. There are 2 sizes, the 1 featured in the video is 45 inches long, I bought the smaller one at 33inches (about 840mm) but the bowl is about 500mm, so I guess you need a cabinet width of at least 550mm. It comes with a rack to be attached under the sink so that you can keep all the accessories that com with the sink. But to use the rack, you will need a cabinet width of 850mm, I think. The sink you bought looks really good, the padding around is much better than the 1 I've got. Good value for money! I always enjoy buying over the internet, because when you buy over the net either it is because you are getting a great saving or you are getting something that is not available locally, and the excitement waiting for it to arrive! Like a young child waiting for Santa to arrive.

I love yellow too, so cheerful! But the boring and practical part of me has chosen the safe colour of white in the end when we did up our kitchen last year. I wished I have been more adventurous. 😊

When we did up our kitchen last year, we decided to use only drawers instead of shelves in all the lower cabinets, and we chose Blum over Ikea. We have a total of 26 drawers (16 standard and 10 inner drawers) 2 lift systems and hinges for all doors to the upper cabinet, all the fittings cost slightly over $2,600. I love having all drawers as it is much easier to reach for things and put things away as the drawers come out to me. It used to be a pain to have to get on my knees to try to reach for something right at the back of the cabinet on the bottom shelve and it will not get easier as I am not getting younger. Other than the soft close mechanism, do consider the benefit of using all-drawer system instead of shelves, it makes working in your kitchen much easier, unless you are planning to have a maid all your life, if not it is a good investment. Just my thought. Uploaded with ImageShack.us I can now reach for things that are kept deep inside the cabinet, even in the corner.

Hi, I bought my kitchen sink online from Amazon too! I chosen an under-mount sink from Kohler. It comes with a few very useful accessories, like a flip tray and cutting board and the grid. the cutting board sits on the sink so that when you are cutting meat and so on, the juice runs right into the sink. I, too was concerned about the moldy silicone gel, but for things to work we need to have the edge flushed with the sink, so I told the solid top people to spread a very wide band of silicon gel around the sink when they install the top and wipe off all excess from exposed area so that there is no silicon gel for mold to grow on. So far that seem to work (8 months already). But I still wipe dry after each use if I can remember. Here, is the intro video on the sink: Here is how it looks in my kitchen. Hi Terence, You have to register yourself and log in, go to "brochures" and look for "price list 2010". For me it was between Ikea or Blum, Chosen Blum in the end. My consideration was that Ikea drawers come in fix width of 40, 50, 60, 80cm and so on, which mean you can't have anything in between, for example if you need a drawer to fill a space of 68cm, you have to compromise with a 60cm drawer and waste the 8cm; whereas for blum, you buy the drawer sides and runners and the carpenter make the back, the base and the front of the drawer, so everything can be made to measure. Hope that helps!

You can get Blum price list at http://connect.blum.com/home.php?country=SG

No, it's 120cm in width not in depth. Blum system can support a drawer up to 120cm in width. but I am making mine 80cm in width only.
-
if you make the drawers 120cm long and planning to store stacks of china ware or cast iron pots and pans, then I think 65kg may be needed.

You can now get their product and price list online at connect.blum.com.

Yes, thanks, I have checked with my carpenter, he is ok to do the frame for Ikea system, but told me to check out Blum system as well. So now, we may be going ahead with Blum instead. It is more expensive than Ikea's, but their system can take up to the weight of 65kg per drawer, so if you have 2 stack of 50cm drawers using Ikea system, you combine them into 1 stack of 100cm drawers, you will b able to save some cost. But then again, their Orga-line is much more expensive than those from Ikea. Guess you just have to pay more for a better system.

Hi, I really like your reno. It looks bright and spacious. Regarding the smell from the sewage, I don't know if this will help. below every floor trap, there should be a U-pipe, this U-pipe is meant to hold a pocket of water which acts as a barrier to prevent small and pest from coming up from the sewage into the bathroom. if you do not use the bathroom often, this pocket of water will evaporate and thus leaving no barrier allowing smell to drift into the bathroom. Try pouring a good bucket of water into the drainage pipe/floor trap to fill the U-pipe with water. Hope this helps. Check "trap (plumbing)" under wikipedia to get a better idea. Good luck.

Hi, I like the IKEA system too. But planning to buy all drawers and pullouts from Ikea and have the carpenter do up the frame in plywood and front. Has anyone tried this? Any advice?
