I've got my quote from 2 contractors for concealed wiring and your quote is about the same as mine. In fact one of my contractors quoted even higher for most items. Pricing for concealed wiring is higher than surface wiring using casing.

Thanks Spikedoll, will ask for quote for 2" strip tomorrow. Planning to use Burmese teak. By the way, can you pm me the contact for your electrician. I will be starting my reno end April and still looking for electrician and ceiling man. Many thanks. Your place is really nice, I like your kitchen too, hope I have time to blog when I start my reno.

Hi Spikedoll, Really like your parquet floor, can you let me know the width of the parquet and also is that teak? I wanted to get 3" wide wood strip, but yours look narrower and it's very nice already, maybe I will consider getting something narrower instead of 3". Thanks in advance.

Wow, Thank you. That is brilliant, I might consider getting them and at the same time a new gate as well.

Sorry, I am going to ask a very stupid question: can you use digital lock on the front gate? I have seen them installed on the wooden door, but how do you install it on a gate? Does anyone have a picture to share? Thanks.

Hi, am thinking of using them too as the sale person is very responsive, can pm me how much they charge you? Thanks. -
Hi Waniekilei, Sorry for the late reply. I have just checked Amazon website and they no longer ship the sink to Singapore. The other one merchant that ships is selling at a higher price. Amazon sent my sink via DHL and the freight is about $200.00 with additional $68 for GST as the item is more than SG$400.00. According to the product description by Amazon , the shipping weight is 75lbs, you may want to chk out comgateway or hopshopgo to see if it is worth shipping through them. It is a great sink, I do all the messy preparation work in it. I didn't install the rack provided, I have installed the a sink drawer instead. By

1)Is the agent the seller's agent? or did you engaged him to find you a property? There is no fixed rule that says that the seller is the only one who needs to pay commission now, an agent can collect "a finder fee" from the buyer if the buyer has engaged him to find a property, BUT an agent cannot collect commission from BOTH the buyer and seller, that means he cannot represent both parties as there is a conflict of interest. (does he looks after the buyer's interest ot the seller's interest) So in this case, if this agent is the one marketing the property for the seller, an you have approached him through advertisement, he most likely will be getting a commission from the seller. and asking commission from you, he is double representing and that is against CEA rule. 2)Quoting Yoongf :"1. If u offered 1.2Mil.. this 1.2Mil offer shd be communicated to the seller. If u ask seller if he knew of the 1.2Mil offer, and seller say no, this agent licence can say bye bye." Yoongf is right in this case, the agent will get into very big trouble if your offer of $1.2mil is not communicated to the seller. I hope this is not the case, because he will surely loose his licence if this is made known to CEA. 3) However, if the agent has told the seller about your offer of $1.2mil and the seller has agreed with the agent to have the commission paid out from the sale price of $1.2 mil, then the agent has done nothing wrong. 1 reason why the seller may want to have it arranged this way is that the sale is a negative sale (he is selling at a loss), and all proceeding will be going back to the bank and CPF account and he won't have cash left to pay the commission so he rather have the buyer pays for it and accept a lower selling price. This may applies too, if the seller is a undischarged bankrupt. Hope this helps, if it turns out that you are liable to pay him, then I suppose you sit down with him and work out a time frame when you can pay up. He has to understand that this is not a small amount. All the best! By the way, there is no fixed rate for commission, 2% is not a must, you are free to negotiate a rate that you feel comfortable with, most agents will still accept 1%. if there is a co-broke case, commission each agent gets can be as low as half percent. Hope it all work out for you.

I have both gas and induction domino hobs in my kitchen. For me the pro for induction is that it heats things up really fast, boils a full kettle in a much shorter time compared to gas, ( sorry, didn't time how much faster.) it's also easy to keep things on a simmer without having to worry about boiling over as induction hob is able to keep temperature steady/constant. Then, of course like what White Housey has said, it's super easy to clean. And because there is less heat created and no open flame, somehow, It makes me feel safer letting my teenage daughter have a go at cooking. Con: if you want to do Chinese dishes with "wok hei", can't achieve that with an induction hob, so I use my gas hob for that. and also if you need to boil herb or cook dish in a clay pot, cant use induction. Basically, of u don't cook alot and not fussy about "wok hei" and all that. It's good.

[ Haha, is your house under renovation? Why you can't find a corner to have these tiles? I actually got the inspiration from this site. Their tiles are a lot nicer! http://www.atticmag.com/2012/03/patterned-tile-backsplashes/ I renovated my kitchen and 2 bathrooms last year after staying here for 15 years. Will do the living room and bedrooms when my bank account recovers, So every now and then I peek into this forum to look see what others are doing. Not adventurous enough to use the tiles on the entire living room or bedroom floor area, and there isn't a small corner (like a balcony or something) in my house. So when I saw you using them on your kitchen wall, Too bad, my kitchen done up already. -

Yes, it is truly a learning experience but 95% not satisfied, that's bad. So sorry to hear that. Not sure about sharing company's name here, but there are people who has done that. But it will be very helpful to share your experience so that others can avoid making the same mistake. Hope you can get most of them rectified.

Sorry, Gesnono, didn't see your msg until now. Have PM you.

What I mean is maybe that is the reason why the hob didn't come with clips or sealing strip. In your case, it may be easily access from below, but for someone who has a built-in oven installed below the hob, then the only way to change the battery is to lift the hob. Imagine if they have included the clips or sealing strip and the consumer went ahead to seal in the hob and then install the built-in oven and find out later that he needs to remove the built-in oven to change the battery. So the manufacturer just do not include them so as to avoid this problem. Guess you should look at the clip and silicon option to stop it from moving around since you have access to the battery easily.
