Tiling Wall Tiles - Horizontal Or Vertical?
indira replied to altis72's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
I never specifically asked the ID or contractor to put them hori or verti, they automatically install them vertically. Think of that, it will look a bit weird to install tile horizontally. But maybe in certain area of wall, it will make the room look a bit bigger, especially if the material is light in color, -
Hi Luohan, Have you installed your new flooring? Hope it runs well and perform better than before,

Ugly Gap Between Floor Laminates And Doorframe
indira replied to Tana0005's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
I also think 1cm is too wide, and the finishing looks sloppy Internal humidity usually higher than outside, especially close to wet area (bathroom and kitchen, but still, 1 cm gap with that finishing is too much.. Usually people put skirting to close the gap and make the joint between the wall and floor looks nice and tidy -
Wardrobe Woes
indira replied to SimpleSimon's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
I think the second option will make your room is wider and you can put more stuffs (i love more space to put stuffs...), and if you put them as a walk in wardrobe, I think the wardrobe also not big enough for you to "walk in"..... -

I mean bamboo flooring .. well for bamboo you buy the product for a life time because of its long durable and low maintenance. Bamboo also has a very low moisture and water absorption and also anti scratch even on the heavy traffic area... But it is not eco-friendly rite?? you have to cut down trees in Burma tropic forest, manufactured and send to Singapore. There are many other options of wood products that can perform similar (or better) than Burmese teak, have you considered of strand woven bamboo flooring? it is more compact, scratch resistant, low maintenance, and absorb very low moisture (no pore) so it performs much better than any wood products. The finishing also similar with wood products, you can check through of these links if you want; http://www.articleculture.com/Art/1412/221/Bamboo-Flooring-Review-Pros-And-Cons-Of-Bamboo-Floor.html http://homeimprovement.webfiy.eu/2011/03/26/bamboo-flooring-in-your-front-room/ Some of the finishings ; Cheers,

indira replied to 3monster's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Hi guys, just see your post today, Have you considered about bamboo products? There is a product called Strand Woven Bamboo that meant for flooring and decking. It is low maintenance, looks like wood and it is a sustainable building materials since bamboo is abundance and easy to grow after harvesting (it only takes 5 years to harvest compare to wood that takes more than 15 years to reach maturity) If you are interested you can check out the website; http://www.styleline.com.sg/ -
Sengkang Bird Droppings On Aircon Compressor/Ledge Problem
indira replied to bubu's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
I can only say you've got to clean up them regularly.....it brings germ...if you have baby or senior citizens, it will affect them faster and usually badly..so sorry to say that... Especially if the wind blows from the bird drops into your house....didnt mean to scare you man, but I have 2 ankle biters who are extremely allergic, it cost me fortune till today.....hiks.. -
The flat roof building is originally from sub-tropical country, for tropical country like Singapore, roof with angle are preferred because of the high rainfall. There are many wood materials that dont need to be treated with anti termite because it is naturally anti termite, such as bamboo. The strength for tension, shear and compression are already tested by some projects such as 33 m long bridges. I think it is worth to be considered. Cheers,
