  1. Not sure about the cost of painting staircase wrought iron railing. To renovate staircase is an expensive thing.... depending on what you want. Mine cost me about 3.5K (hack and remove original, use laminate wood for steps, wrought iron grille and wooden handrail). I actually wanted glass panel but it would cost me 7K ........ it all goes down to budget. Electrical rewiring and new installation also don't come cheap. Becos of tight budget, I used back most of the original wiring.... only change main DB and rewire kitchen, already about 3K.
  2. Hi Slyphy, your reno is making good progress..... can't wait to see your final product!
  3. Hi Dasinia, your original condition looks well maintained.... So what is the extent of your reno? Are u keeping the staircase? All the best in your reno journey.
  4. Congrats! Hope u have a smooth reno journey
  5. Nice:) is that a retractable awning system ? Can you PM the vendor and cost? I m also looking for something like this. Does it really help to keep the rain away?

  13. I agree that EM needs to have a toilet at 1st level... Not just for elderly. Having one is impt when need to go toilet urgently or visitors can also use. I also restored my 1st toilet and it is not cheap lor.
  14. I like your open kitchen concept with big island, making the whole place look really spacious.
  15. Best person to consult is yor housing agent. However, I thought once u buy the house, the buyer will decide what to hack and what not to hack. The seller sells the whole house to u, it is really up to u what u want to do with it.
  16. Hi Cleong, nice to have neighbours like u. Thanks for your advice you gave me regarding renovation cost and other reno issues I faced. You were right, my final bill worked out to be around 50k, inclusive of wardrobe, DIY shelvings, lightings and accessories. What I like best on your design is the staircase and the lightbox Your place look very spacious compared to mine.... I will take your idea on recycling old stuff, to make place clutter-free:) I will attempt to do this regularly too. Hope u don't mind putting picture on how u create storage in your balcony
  17. MBR Wardrobe Finally completed within 4hrs.... great workmanship Final product! Can you spot the pull-out mirror??
  18. More pics on your progress leh.... Slyphy, u r redoing your staircase too? If you are doing it, remember to discuss what need to be done and detailed one. I had bad experience and got my ID to rework.

  20. Everything is looking good. I like your kitchen design..... nice .
  21. MBR Build-in Wardrobe I have already moved into my new place for about 2 mths liao..... although I have bought a 4 door wardrobe from Star Furniture, I realise the storage space is not enough to put my spouse and my ever-increasing clothings and accessories. We just need more storage space! Thanks to this forum that I found "Ah Wei Carpentry", a recommended carpentry company with reasonable pricing. I chose Ah Wei becos of many good comments given by renotalk forumers . The other good thing about this company is that they were willing to do some minor rectification kitchen cabinet jobs which my ID sub con were reluctant to do! . For those minor rectification, My ID wanted to charge me unreasonable price for this! . Ah Wei was very nice and willing to take up the job. The workers are installing the full height build-in wardrobe at my MBR today. It is 9 ft long and it comes with a 3 panel sliding door and it also has a build-in sliding mirror. Will upload the final product after they have completed. After this.... It will bring an end to my renovation
  22. Can't view your pics liquidmod.... Is it my iPhone problem? However, using Internet Explorer with lap top is ok.
  23. Thx for your advice LOL did u buy this unit becos of price/ location? Since u already bought it... It is best to give it a major facelift...... completely erase the unpleasant images happy reno journey!
  24. Lol:) put all your pic in photobucket, then copy img file from photobucket and paste it in blog.... Try it! It's quite simple
  25. It is possible, provided the workers come everyday all the best to completion!
