  1. COV is still so high??? Only setback in Whampoa is no MRT and have to share amenities like sports complex and library with Toa payoh.
  2. I simply love the country style kitchen .... Will be in my future project. I m using PD door.... No problem with it. The thing I like abt it is that there is no thread on the floor
  3. Hi Muska, congrats on ur purchase of your new place in Whampoa. Like u, I also grew up there when I was a child spending more than 20yrs in that neighborhood..... Nice place and many eating places in this place. Wish u a smooth reno.
  4. U should have the contractor protect the air con before plastering..... did u plaster the whole house?
  5. Ypur current EM condition looks quite well maintained. Your reno seems rather massive which requires a deep pocket. I always feel that the rno ID or contractors tend to quote high for EM cos of the size. Hope you have a smooth reno.
  6. Hi Alvin11, congrats on becoming a new EM owner:) your EM size of 165sqm is unusual and it certainly look huge. The layout is also very unique as it is different from the normal EM layout. Where is your place?
  7. Sze hui, u r already near completion.... Hope u have a smooth move in tmr:)
  8. How r u doing bro. Hope you have settled down in your new place. How's ur pet bunny doing?
  9. Perhaps u may want to focus on the reno of the place first, furnishing can always add in later when u have more $$$. We all have many wants, but limited resources.
  10. Thanks for visiting my blog and congrats to u on becoming a new EM owner. Not too early to go around and get quotes to have a feel of the costing and Reno requirement. In this forum, most of the EM owners spend between 35k to 70k to do up their place. Of course there r others whose Reno cost is 80k to over 100k My total cost is about 42k excluding furnishing, which is considered in the lower region I will not recommend my ID to u becos he is not very efficient and does not remember the things I want him to do. As a result, many things had to rework. Aqua, who recently got the same ID to do her EM, knows what I mean. In spite of all these flaws, the overall workmanship is good and acceptable to me. I can recommend u Maydream's ID, Andrew, who is hardworking and detailed. However his price is slightly higher. All the best to ur coming reno. Cheers!
  11. Hi Tedlim, congrats to being a new EM owner. your floor plan is exactly same as mine. Where is your EM? Your renovation seems quite extensive, so be prepared to dig into your pocket. Before u do that, do careful planning. I also got ideas from renotalk tblog before I start.... Then realize there r so many consideration. If u read my tblog, u will know what r the things u will need to take note.
  12. It would save u quite a bit if u keep the parquet steps. But make sure the workers don't damage the steps while changing the rsilings. Just the teak handrail cost me 1k... Do u intend to do glass panel?
  13. This is something I don't understand too? Mine also don't have tiles behind cabinets and the built in oven area too. What is the reason for them not to do the tiling? Cost cutting? I insisted that they covered the area behind the oven with cabinet laminate wood the last time. Another point to note! I still remember one of my top cabinet had exposed pipes when I opened the cabinet door. The carpenter said it is normal practice. Again, I got them to cover the pipes with laminate wood so that I don't see these pipes. The remaining space not blocked by the pipes could still be used for storage.
  14. Lady R, u have got one of the best looking EM in this forum..... many look to u as "model EM"
  15. Great to know you have already found a contractor for ur EM reno. Do u plan to start a tblog?
  16. Good that u have decided on the contractor . You ay want to squeeze his price further or stretch your $$$ to get more out of your 65K. Remember, there is always the unforseen things that are unplanned for and sometimes rework too. We need to factor in all these. I find that furnishing will eat into thebudget too esp some people may not want to use back old stuff as these may not blend into the new place. For me, I didnt care, I used back 95% of my exisiting furniture and bought very few. I am still very happy Happy reno
  17. Yaolong, can u pm me the contacts for purchase and intallation of CCTV single channel. How much does it cost u?
  18. Sent info to ur email. U r making good progress in your reno. Jiayou!
  19. Couldn't PM u cos I think ur mailbox is full.
  20. Marble, u only receive 1 quote? So what is your total Reno cost? Ur reno seems quite extensive, Is it over 65k? Are u redoing staircase and railings? Are u rewiring your whole place? Any plastering work? Also remember to reserve cash for furnishing...
  21. In my opinion, a dishwasher is very useful especially when u don't have a domestic helper. I am indeed very happy to own a dish washer and it has been a great helper. When the sink is loaded wish dishes, I will use it and it it does an excellent job and making the bowls, plates, pots and pans sparkling bright! Just can't do with one now.
  22. Yes, I place the washing machine in the service yard, ie behind kitchen sink & next to the bin.... It is quite cramp but still ok with us. We just want to keep the service area and toilet separate from the kitchen and out of sight from my living hall since our kitchen is open concept.
  23. HI Celtricia, thanks for visiting my blog. May I know where is the EM you are considering to get? Mine used to be a wash area and the 1st owner hackoff walls of the wash area to make the kitchen area bigger. I didnt face any major problem to erect a new toilet at the 1st level..... HDB approved our request. I got my ID to construct a yard to separate the kitchen and the toilet. In other words, I must enter the yard area to get to the toilet..... something unique in our EM. I like it this way becos my toilet cannot be seen from the kitchen Picture of Yard ... toilet on the left Mini sink at yard..... and storage space too laudry area at yard and toilet with shower head
  24. Same for me too, Andrew's quote was about 42k vs Kafu's quote of 35K. I would love to take Andrew, but because of budget constraint, I chose Kafu instead.
