Hi fishponder, my aircon is from my previous owner and I believe it is about 5 years old. My compressor does leak water occasionally even though there is a separate drain pipe along the side wall and I dont know the reason why. It doesnt really disturb me coz it is at my balcony and it is only a small patch. From my previous experience with new air con system, this shouldnt happen. Maybe you want to get your aircon serviceman rectify the problem.

Wah adidaem, 2 persons staying in an EM is indeed a luxury. Thanks for the encouragement. Now I dont feel guilty about my "messy" place. WIth kids around, no matter how hard I train them to put things back after using / cleanup their place after working, it works for a while and after that it is back to their usual messy lifestyle. It is true that it is hard to get a good location @ an affordable price. I have looked around for more than a year. With rising cost, I would be most contented to stay in my EM for a long time and I dont expect any drastic drop in the price of housing in years to come.

2 units of recess area is very rare. You may want to walk around your neighbouhood and check if anyone in your area have ever done this. I am thinking if in the future, you decides to sell one of the 2 units, will there be an issue? So in this case, you may face a problem to sell coz u have shared recess area. You may need to let your MP solve your problem.

I had the same problem. Now had to live with it. No open net coz my wife don't like to see another plastic casing running thru the hall or under the cornice. Stick to the slow Singtel Mio broad band.....

Ur place looks so clean, neat and spacious. It is always an uphill task for me when it comes to maintaining it. With 2 teenage kids in my place makes it even more challenging. Things are growing and ever increasing..... Soon an EM will be too small for me. Haha

I hate to clean their poop. After cleaning, they still leave marks on the wall. What is even more disgusting is they sometimes crawl up my kitchen table to look for food. I dare not leave any food exposed for fear they might have walk over it without my knowledge! Haha... If anyone has good ways of getting rid of them, do share

Have not been updating my blog for quite a while. Things are going well and we r adapting well to our neighbourhood. Would like to know if anyone have use a robot cleaner. I m looking for one that can help me vacuum my place at scheduled times daily. I now do vacuuming only once a week and find it a hassle to take vacuum cleaner in and out of the storeroom. Does anyone have other robot cleaner to recommend other than this one which AA shop is selling. Agait robot cleaner video on YouTube:

When do u need to move in? 1 month is very rush for a complete renovation of an EM..... like what adidaem said, no EM is able to complete in less than 6 weeks. I think mine took something like 11 weeks. If the different groups of workers come everyday to do the reno, maybe they can meet ur deadline.

My friend also have a retractable awning. When I asked her why she had to open it manually, she said the motor didn't work after a few years. The vendor who sold her the system no longer keep stock of this. I m worried if I get this motorized system, it must be build to last and easy to maintain. One thing I didn't like is the awning is a little to low. I want it to cover my Aircon compressor. Lizards / lizard poops.... I use the traps but sometimes they r so smart... They refuse to get into the sticky trap leh... Haha I also use insect spray to exterminate them and prevent them from reproducing in my place. Have killed more than 10 lizards since I moved in last Oct.

True at this stage. Mine was like this too but not for long coz when I started moving my old stuff, it fills up the space very quickly. My kids stuff also took up a lot of space. It is really not easy after all to maintain the tidiness.... Needs a lot of time and energy.

Your kitchen tiles r very nice. R they high end tiles. My ID only allowed me to choose tiles within a certain budget if not have to top up.

Thank you for your suggestion. My current 5m potbellied grille gave my ID a hard time to get his workers to walk up 8 storeys. Thanks also to Cleong for suggesting a centre piece to divide the roller shutter. I assume I would need 2 roller shutters. The idea of putting a retractable awning system is pending. I have seen my neighbours facing challengea to maintain their awning. The motor can spoil easily or what happens when it is dirtied by birds or insects? How to bring it down to clean? More work for me? Haha

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Monitoring the reno progress and making sure everything is going the way u want is a tedious and challenging process. Some people leave it completely to ID / contractors. Moving in is another big challenge esp when u have a lot of barang barang..... So make sure u have a good mover and also already have installed plenty of storage space! Haha .... Relax and enjoy

Your EM valuation is high coz of location..... 200k to 250k higher than in some other places like HG, SG or WLDs. Buying a renovated place has its advantage as one can spend less on reno. However, my wife feels that buying it would mean that the design is not our own.... She prefers to have our own design Actually, for me i dont mind as long as I like the previous owner design and feels good.

It looks plain in the backdrop. Perhaps u can spruce up with glass display cabinets / shelving or hang nice pictures.

U r certainly very fortunate to get ur EM at this COV base on the location and everything is done up. Hope u have a smooth reno journey
