The One That Wiped Out Our Entire Cpf Savings
potatoes replied to deardyan's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat
Congrats deardyan on getting the keys to your new flat. Also congrats on getting married this oct. I can understand the anxiety u r going thru' ...... Both wedding prep and flat Reno. .... Well, I think u can save quite a bit by not hacking anything. Everything u want to do boils down to $ and Cents. How detail do u want your Reno to be? Hope u have a smooth Reno. -
Congrats on getting your keys yesterday. Your reno starts ....

Nice cove lighting at dining area. Thx for reminding me as I now need to consider the dirt, dust and lizard poo issues on the areas ...... Is it easy to change these lightings if they fuse?

Your baby is really cute!

Hi, Something to share. I came across this quote taken from DesignerGuys website ( I think is by Andrew), I share the same view as him. My Definition of Home A home is a safe, comfortable and carefree place where you and your family can enjoy the best quality of living. Safe (without any worries), comfortable (relaxed and casual) and carefree (easily managed) is, I believe, the formula for a good quality time. This week and next week, I will be meeting some contractors recommended by some members in RT..... Hope their quotes falls within my budget.

Thanks for visiting my blog. U are right! My unit is just along the narrow stretch of road seeing the bus stop..... I l like the unblock view. Will PM u for your contractor.

Csingeu,I agree with friends78 that u shouldn't give up on ur contractor. Tell them what u want and insist that u want them to rectify their mistakes. I think everything should work out fine. Remember, ultimately u r the one who will pay the Reno cost.

Isn't it great to know that you have completed your Reno? Thanks for recommending Andrew..... It would soon be my turn to go through this Reno journey.... I hope I can be like u.... Smooth sailing..... -
Csingeu, May I know who is ur ID or contractor. Btw, is your main door fire-rated? Where did u get it from? Thx

Hope ur renovation is going on well despite some of the hiccups u mentioned. I like ur balcony folding doors.... I m thinking of the frameless glass doors.

May, thanks for your invitation. My wife and I love your design and modern renovation. We find you are indeed very warm and friendly. You have given us new insights as how we can go ahead with our upcoming reno. Thanks for your ideas and now at least we know what we want .... of course, can't achieve such a high standard like yours (my pocket not so deep). The kitchen is something we may want to focus. -

Excellent photos! Your renovation is really superb! -
Thanks Cleong for ur advice. At this moment, I will just do built-in wardrobes for MBR. The rest will do if budget allows.
-
Thanks for ur kind recommendation. I am alright with just a contractor and I will try to work within what I can afford at this moment. I like the philosophy abt what u mention in the 1st page of ur blog. To me, though it would nice to have exquisite things and beautiful reno for my home, what matters most is really the people that makes up my home. I want my wife and kids to be happy staying in this unit. I hope to get a good and reasonable contractor to do up my new home.

Thanks Cleong for sharing. Looks like I have to put in more $$$$ for renovation. 1. The marble flooring for the lower floor will remain, air condition sytem for all 3 rooms will also remain, 2. I intend to use laminate wood for upper floor and staircase. 3. Hack of part of kitchen wall and redo the kitchen cabinet. 4. Redo the 3 toilets. 5. Have a small yard for laundry purpose. 6. Build storage area under staircase.

U r right! That is one of the reasons why we were willing to accept the unit even though it was in it's very original state. .... We tried to bargain for lower COV, but owner turned down. I didn't want to miss the opportunity of getting this EM unit, so I settled for the deal. Now, I am thrown into a tight budget situation with very little left for major renovation. Anyone can recommend a contractor that will settle for a reasonable 25k? Cant even go for anything more than this amount. Sigh......
