  1. What type of unit is yours and where is the location? Nice drawing
  2. Ya lor, don't understand why people in the past fancy "rockstone" effect. Someone told me it helps to keep the lizards away. Initially i wanted to keep it to cut cost.... But my wife kept pestering me b'cos she cannot sleep if she sees the rockstone. I wonder how much it cost to plaster all the walls and ceiling.
  3. Making good progress in your reno. Hope you have a smooth journey.
  4. Thanks Incubator! My ID told me it's probably going to take 6 to 8 weeks to complete everything and hand over. I m not going to rush them as I m planning to move in somewhere mid Oct. What about u? When r u starting?
  5. Below is the 3D design of my Kitchen proposed by my Interior designer. The new yard is right behind the kitchen sink area (not in picture) The Bar counter after the wall that divides the kitchen and the dining is hacked off. Overall, I am quite happy with the design and layout.
  6. Go for the System 3 Inverter system .... lower electric bill... . Btw, i m using Mit System 4 Starmex.
  7. This is what I got from Hafary @Balestier - the company that supplies tiles After selecting my choice of wall & floor tiles, they gave me samples for me to bring home.
  8. This is another major job for my ID to arrange to bring down this huge wooden fixture on wall next to staircase. My ID would also need to design and build a toilet in this kitchen area with the door facing the new yard area. All toilet and yard are currently not there.
  9. Skyline, your tiling seem to have completed. Hope to see ur kitchen pics soon.
  10. Things completed so far: 5 Jul - Collected keys from lawyer 6 Jul - Initial house opening, electircity & water supply turn on 7 Jul - handover place to ID & application for reno permit 9 Jul Went with ID to Hafray @Balestier to choose the tiles for wall and floor. Took about 2 hrs to decide on the tiles colour and design. I told my ID that I wanted white homogenous tiles for my Foyer with some "pebbles" design by the side. Indeed, I was very please with what I selected today. Miss out on selecting floor tiles for balcony..... Aiyah got to go back there next week to decide again. As I am very budget $$$ conscious, my ID brought me to Lucky Khoon @Joo Chiat to decide on toilet WCs, basins, taps.. Also ordered a rainshower set togther with heater for my Master bathroom For Kitchen sink, I ordered the granite type. The price is very reasonable and all were given a further 10% discount. Initially, I thought of getting from Hoe Kee, but now have no regrets getting so many items from Lucky Khoon. Late afternoon, I got my door supplier to measure main door and doors for all rooms. I also got him to measure wrought iron gate for main gate, something similar to what RB is having now...... heee heee Renovation will probably begin next week once HDB has approved. More pics will follow.....
  11. Thanks for your advice . I dont intend to change the aluminium door but rather get contractor to clean the thread and change the film and the lock. There is minimum hacking of wall. The only wall that will go is the one at the kitchen entrance, cos I intend to build a breakfast counter.
  12. Thanks Joyousline & Kobelala, Thanks. I will continue to upload some for original pictures from my current EM. Additional Platform at staircase to be hacked... Staircase.... to be changed to laminate wood, wrought iron and wooden handrail Balcony : To change to Wrought Iron (Curve type)
  13. That's true! It doesnt matter if it is 3 /4/5 or EA or EM. It depends on how extensive u want your reno to be? I m spending 35k to renovate my EM.
  14. Nice scenery! Show pics of ur interior leh.... What type of unit is it?
  15. Nvr mind. I m sourcing for alternative source other than the usual "clipsal" or "MK" brand many electricians use. I happen to stumble upon another brand "T&L" while shopping things at balestier Rd, the supplier Claim that it is made in Singapore. It looks like yours and comes also comes In colours. Not very expensive....
  16. Nice plate! Do they have gold plated?
  17. Joyous, I like your switches. Do u know the brand? How much does each light switch costs?
  18. Thx Adidaem, I m also looking forward to this x'formation. As I m on a very tight budget, i have to plan carefully as to what I can make do with. Now that the entire unit is empty, I am trying to see what I can keep and what I cannot keep. Things that I will keep: 1. Balcony sliding doors .... These are aluminium ones. Will get my contractor to service them and refurbish. 2. Marble floor .... Polish it and repair crack lines. 3. System 4 aircon inverter system ..... Service and do chemical wash. 4. Aluminum sliding windows for bedrooms ..... Service them. 5. Water heaters... Still look very new. 6. Electrical wiring .... Just change the Main CB distribution box, switches and sockets. Apart from these mentioned, everything else in the house will need to be changed. To me this is Very major reno!
  19. Is the a bigger version of this water feature! look forward to get one for my home. How much does it cost?
  20. Just spoken to my ID just now regarding about plastering the walls and ceiling for my entire unit..... It wasn't in my previous quote. My wife and I just cannot stand the current rock stone effect..... It only means we now need to spend more $$$
  21. Thx. We intend to keep the marble flooring in living and Dining area. The whole unit has too many partitions wall , making the house look very dark and gloomy. All these will be hacked when reno begins next week. My ID will be submitting for approval. Hope everyihing is ok.
  22. I m happy to share with u some pictures of the current state of my EM.... needs major revamp! Kitchen: Living Hall: The Entrance:
  23. Some abstract from the website on initial house opening. Interesting abstract from the website on initial house opening..... THE PINEAPPLE Thus, pineapple in Hokkien sounds like " Ong Lye " or "Ong" prosperity. In general, many Hokkiens were told to roll in a pineapple into the home. Thus rolling in of a pineapple or "Ong" (Prosperity) sounds like rolling in LUCK into the home! Depending on one's dialect group, there are various other "Jumping in" or "throwing in" process. As mentioned above, all these have to do with the idea of throwing in "luck" into one's home. Thus, if you were advised to "throw" in a pineapple, *JOKE* you may perhaps, try your luck or make some practises at the bowling alley, first! Just remember that the idea, here is to "roll" not "fly-in" the pineapple. It would be considered very inauspicious if one throws it too hard; where the pineapple simply rolls to the balcony and flys off the home. Here, one's wealth just fly-out of the window. Hows this for bad luck? Therefore, if possible, try to roll it into the home gently. It would be great if it rolls to the "centre" area of the home. SALT Especially if the house is a second-hand one, often, salt is sprinkled around the home to supposely cleanse away bad qi or old qi. And also sprinkled in the toilet.
  24. Hooray, Yesterday was completion day! I didnt have time to go to HDB because of work, so got my housing agent to collect keys on my behalf. I have been reading articles on house opening in several websites and found this one interesting ..... http://www.geomancy.net/upload/HOUSE%20WARMING%20RITUAL(5).DOC Today, I m going to "roll" in a pineapple, sprinkle salt in different places of the house.... That's all ....Just keep it simple.
