  1. Cleong, I just found out that the unit at our blk that is asking for 700k belongs to one of my neighbours. I saw the agent bringing buyers to view the unit. The unit was nicely done up about 3 yrs ago. The couple told me that they spent more than 120k in renovation cost in total........
  2. Totally agree... I just love that magic sponge.... The only problem..... It slowly disappears after each rub. I also use it to remove stubborn stains, simply great! 
  3. Now that HDUC is privatized..... Never know the day when HDB also privatized, maybe partially. Just like SBS, SMRT or SP or SingTel.... Do u think it will happen?
  4. I also wouldn't pay 700k for my EM too! It certainly would exhaust substantial amount of my retirement funds. When I was bidding for EM in Bishan area, when I realized there were people who were willing to pay 70k to 100k COV, I gave up!
  5. Your reno progress is looking good! I notice the wall of your kitchen is completely covered with tiles..... R u doing top and bottom cabinets? Cos I remembered my ID only do tiling for the middle portion of the wall and no tiles for top and bottom, just concrete.
  6. In my opinion, a functional home is most impt. Everything in the house should be practical including the positioning. I also love to move my furnitures around once a while. It instills creativity.... I m sure this reno is going to be very exciting for u. All the best to ur reno 
  7. Cleong, do u think the property prices have reached the peak or is it still going even higher? Glad to know that the prices for our block has reached 630K and another asking for 700K..... I feel very lucky to have bought a yr ago. I dont think EM prices r going to come down.... Demand is greater than Supply..... Unless HDB decides to revert back to building EM again.
  8. I m using granite sink too, light colour somemore.... For dirty stains, I use the "magic sponge" to remove them.... Really effective. The sink is still as new as it was before. 
  9. I also like the loft units @punggol sapphire...... What is the current price like now? Wish they build more of such units in other estates.
  10. 50 units? Wow.... Amazing! I don't think my wife have the stamina to view 50 units, even if I wanted to. So I ended up viewing 10 units before deciding my final based on our preference - location, accessiblity, block/unblock, price range esp COV, type of neighbors etc. As long as it fufills most of our criteria, the next thing is We must feel good about the house. For me, no regrets buying my EM
  11. Ya, no matter how simple, the contractor would still need to measure or base on your floorplan and quote u according to per foot run. I share the same opinion as cleong.... U also have to consider the different configuration..... Not forgetting also the material you use for the cabinets. Cheers
  12. Sze Hui, Congrats to u on moving into your new place. Hope you have settled down with all the unpacking. Your MBR looks cool... Did u use wallpaper for your room?
  13. Very nice and polished parquet Reno ending soon... Jia you Yap!
  14. Wow! I think it is really hard work to dismantle all the wardrobe on your own.... Can save u a couple of hundreds. I dont think I can manage this.... I rather pay my ID $$$. Anyway, u can now look forward to new wardrobes
  15. I thought this was what the common toilet was like before reno. Darnie didn't like the exposed pipes and mirror. She had wanted a clean, bright and modern look I feel that having cabinets in the toilet makes the place smaller and cramp.
  16. Good buy for an EM. I think only Hougang, Serangoon N and woodlands can get EM for around 600k. Don't know why EM in East is more expensive.
  17. I like your bathroom cos u have utilized the space with built in cabinets. U also managed to conceal the pipes. I realize the space between the tall cabinet and the WC is very small or maybe I m wrong. I m just concern about the legs hitting against the sharp corner of the tall cabinet base. Do u have the habit to keep the toilet floor dry all the time?
  18. I agree with u that both parquet and laminate wood flooring are difficult to maintain. They need special care and unlike tiles, we cannot use wet mop on them if they r to last a long time. Laminate wood is certainly more scratch resistant than parquet and cheaper. I m currently using laminate wood for all my bedrooms. I do like the warm feeling as compared to tiles. So need to wear slippers. My living and dining is using marble.... Nice to look at but gives me a very cold feeling.... I have to wear slippers to keep my feet warm..... Perhaps I m getting old... Hee hee My personal preference: I like only my bedrooms and staircase to be wood but I don't like the whole house to have woody feeling.
  19. Your kitchen looks really clean and white
  20. I m currently using Ariston dish washer from Mayer. U bought urs?
  21. Can no longer buy Hdb and own Pte property at the same time. I was in simliar situation as u before I sold my condo and bought HDB. But who knows, 5 yrs later, things can change again.
  22. Hi Ax, congrats for getting an EM.... Btw where is the EM u bought? 20k COV is indeed on the low side. My COV was on the high side about a yr ago.... All cash has gone and left with little to reno. My Reno is abt 42k which involve overhauling the whole place.... So 60k to 80k should be sufficient. All the best for your reno
  23. Nicely done up we have the same bedroom floor laminate.
  24. Great to hear that u have moved into your new place..... Unpacking is a tedious thing.... More tedious than packing.
  25. Wah completing Reno liao.... Congrats! When is ur move in?
