Pictures show your reno is progressing well. Don't worry too much about the staircase...... Getting a new one may be a blessing in disguise. For me, I had wanted to keep the original parquet staircase too but my wife was against it. She wanted everything brand new. I didn't regret that decision since.

I agree with u that redoing is going to cost more than repair. But how could ur contractor have made this mistake since it wasn't hacked right from the beginning? Hmmm.... U should make him pay for the additional cost incurred. A parquet staircase can easily cost $2000 or more....

Hi Yhliang, I wonder what your super budget Reno is like? Unless It is move in condition, it would be a challenge. I find reno cost very high nowadays compared to those times when I first renovated my 1st flat 20yrs ago.

Exman, u completed ur Reno? It looks quite major overhaul.....u r keeping the original staircase too? R u doing ur own painting? Your place is quite massive and quite a number of high places / ceiling which requires staging..... That would be very challenging if u try to DIY. Your quote doesn't include plastering? Another added cost if u want ur wall and ceiling to be smooth. Electrical rewiring for whole EM is also very costly.... I m thinking of changing my balcony sliding doors to PD doors.... Does anyone know how much it will cost for 4m Transparent PD door?
