  1. Since you are still praising about your ID Maybe just a suggestion, since your IT standard is limited...why not ask your ID to post some pics on your behalf? I'm sure he will be very please. Cheers
  2. Hi cueball, I think it would be easier & get more response if you specified (prefered itemised) the $ amount for the quotation you received. Also the type of materials it will be using. Cheers
  3. Hope did not offended you as not intended. Thanks for sharing your comments and hope you can contribute more in this forum in future.
  4. I can post the pics for you if you like (just doing a favor to you). I'm a IT savvy guy
  5. Hi Mrs Yu, I'm sure you are very happy with your ID results. When recomending how good the ID as you mention i'm sure many forumer here and future new ones would like to see some your ID work. Can you post some for us to see (if you don't mind)? *** Added: seen your other thread regarding seeing your pics at your ID. Thanks anyway, but will skip it as no time or excuse to visit your ID and don't want to kepo ... *** Btw, my reno does not cost more than yours and we renovate and use best materials & workmanship on every corner of our old house (>23yrs) and we are very satisfied and i'm sure most will also. My ID also very responsible and constantly updates us on regular meetings and on site as well. We also has many request and design changes along the way. As for your statement "Most IDs would just secure the job first and talk later" is a bit bias imo. We went to several IDs (big & small company) and they would talk to us (incl the one we finally choose) for several months without even secure our job yet. As for your friend who paid her ID about $70K without no major hacking done, nor kitchen cabinets and wardrobes included is very unusual and not common imo. Maybe other items in her reno are extraordinary or expensive . Anyway, pictures tells a thousand words. Cheers
  6. Hi nautilud I find the electrical price quite reasonable considering the number of lighting & power point you have. My advice is to let once company or ID handle the electrical work as well. This is so that should there be any issues you just have to go back to one party and let them coordinate & arrange everything saving you time and less headache as to who's responsible should any dispute arises. What's more you can quote together with your other renovation cost and hold off the final 10% until you are satisfied and according to the contract. Speaking from experiences .
  7. Hi me also kpo over here as this is interesting case. Man, i can't believe this! Guess everyone already mentioned all the possibilities & suggestions. Could he be self depress when come to having sex or when trying to satisfy the opposite partner. Most likely he is not experienced, bad experience in the past or do not know how and feel embarrased. By judging from the fact that he does not like to reveal his personal stuff (as mentioned earlier like his salary, passbook, etc.) he is very secrective and does not like to open up. Could he be in financial stress? Advise maybe for her to go more on holidays (so that hopefully will open up more) together and see more romantic/comedy/kids movies. If not then seek counselling (but this sometimes very difficult in case he feel ashame or he is not willing) ... if all else failed or not improving best if she discussed it openly and suggest a few ideas like finding another person who is more suitable to her and enjoy having kids (maybe he will realised what he will miss and open up or change his mind...hope so ). Cheers
  8. Wow nice place for a romantic dinner & photo taking.... Must visit this Sirocco place our next visit to BKK. Keep us informed of its famous mediterranean foods..thx Have a great trip .
  9. At least you got the Kuro..best black color (BMW)...me only got the best selling TV (Toyota) Yup me too...most store recognised my face. I think one store even black list me (i.e not serving me) cos i ask too many good questions everytime. Yes, agree with you to visit many different store for comparison and listen to many diff sale person talk...by then you will be confuse
  10. It's very difficult to compare at shops unless the settings are almost similar. I was once shown by the Sale person of how good one brands looks compares to another brand but later when checking the settings, it was very bias. Also shops usually have a very bad light envirnoments and do no justice for Plasma screens. They usually set the contrast too high to attract customers. Also shops sometime may not have a good signal so do no justice for local air channels. So my suggestion just buy what you need (Plasma or LCD). No point buying Full HD (if you are sitting quite far back, the tv size is quite small or not watching HD materials liek Blu-rays or HD-DVD) and other new technology if you are not making full use of it. If can affort Full HD or Kuro then go for it and start enjoying the tv. Else HD Ready is usually good enough and also start enjoying it. Cos there will be better model just around the corner. it's a never ending and no point waiting for the ideal tv for you. I waited 2yrs to get a HD Ready TV just to compared diff models and waiting for new technology.
  11. No problem. Doing the spot light should not be a difficult job. Yes, get the lights first. Quite a numbers of good shops along Balastir Rd. Thanks
  12. Like the previous poster said....keep the remote away and lock it up when you go out.
  13. My estimate guess is $35-45 for each lighting point (but this is based on quite a number of lighting points) and depends on the extensive works done on the false ceiling. Patching up false ceiling & repainting may be another separate cost. "SP Testing" means the electrician submit request to SP Power to come to the premises and check on all the electrical/lighting points to make sure it adhere to rules & regulation. This is suppose to be mandatory (if any changes are made to the place) by law to ensure it is safe and do not pose any danger to the household or to the building but i guess most household do not do this because of the costs (i.e professional fees to the electrician) & inconvenients.
  14. Depends on the location. If near the entrance foyer where it can be dark, then it may be good idea to have some spot lights. If in bright area, generally no need. Also if you want to emphasis the painting (i.e main focus points) then also a good idea to have some spot lights. Note, spot lights can make your place very warm and use more electricity.
  15. That's quite expensive . I was quoted last time around $1K if i'm not wrong. This is for your main entrance door right?
  16. Installing additional lights (eg Spot Lights, PLC, etc..) should be no problem. Workers needs to cut some holes (how big depends on where the nearest lighting points source (incase of "tapping" from that lighting source). Please tell them to keep the original cut out piece so that they can patch back and plastered for easier work. Removing entire false ceiling could be very costly but if the condition is not so good then good idea to replace all. Please note that if any SP Testing done will be void if any changes are made.
  17. Hey bro, you could have try selling to some comic shops....at least get some dinner money. I also throw away so many boxes of nice reno magazines and books so not to take too much space. I think it's good idea not to keep paper related materials (eg magazines, receipts, books ) for a long time as it will invite unwanted guess like insects & silver fish. So throw throw anything that you are not going to use or read. Good excuses for cleaning up for the CNY... Best is to keep electronic copies.
  18. Congrat and good price you got. Rebate some more Expected to drop but not that much....
  19. Definitely 2.0 is a much better. My wife prefer sedan car and i was thinking of a change from sedan type. Yes have kid and plaaning to add one more kid. Good luck with your COE. Should get it.
  20. Hi Civic 2.0 is a great car and very popular. This (or Stream) is what i'm eyeing on as well. Not sure about new Mazda 6 cos not available yet. Definitely cannot compare quality generally between European & Thai made cars. Me currently driving a Thai made car....very reliable engine cos it's from world top manufacturer but a lot of cost cutting so it's cheaper. Just came back from Aussie land home and price there are no comparison...Can get new BMW 325i for $60K and new Golf 2.0 FSI for around $35K and can keep long time without effect like COE. Here it's all about supply, demand & COE revenue to .... Both model mentioned above have no complaints what's so ever by family members and i have driven both as well and yes quality is there. Maybe GTI is a different beast. Was driving Sunny 5 yrs ago and i know what you mean beside the heavy Definitely expect petrol price to be high for some time.
  21. Congrat RenoGirl on your move in. Very colorful place.
  22. Hi fteocs, Not really too late for CNY Yes, PS3 (bought mine quite some time back when first launch here) is currently still the cheapest Blu-Ray player and it's a game console as well. In case you are not aware Sony Singapore (Paragon & Wisma Atria got more titles, read somewhere total is 28 titles) is having a BR Sales, 3 BRs for $118.90..maybe limited titles. Else you can always wait for Amazon promotions like BOGO (Buy One Get One). Guess you can try purchasing PS3 games from most place but pricing is mostly fixed. Other place you could try is in Funan...forgot the game shop name. Good time to buy car next 1 or 2 months before lower COE quota kicks in and most expect COE prices to head upwards. Higher oil prices & impending recession is US is likely to damper minimal IMO. Also looking to change my ride this year. Have you considered the new Mazda 6 series expected to launch end of this month or the new Honda Accord or the Ford Modeo (2.3litre)? Cheers
  23. Congrat Looking forward to the next 100 pages
