  1. Hi TYM, thanks for dropping by. Yes, initially when first watch 100" at 3.5 meter was like WOW it's so big ...but after seeing many time it's just nice size to be like cinema feeling...just nice Ideally it's should be 90-100 inch screen....any smaller it's not same feeling and any bigger it's too big as you start moving your head from left to right side of the screen as you watch the movie Not really front row as in cinema as most HD movies now are in 16:9 aspect viewing size so not really the full screen pictures as it is cut from top & bottom.
  2. Yes, Focus high end projector are not too bad and good pricing too. Me: For real HT system my heart & brain said either Monitor Audio GS10 HT systems or the soon to be launch new 600 S4 series from B&W (see pics below). Have auditioned all types of HT speakers & AV systems in the last 3mths....very tiring but enjoyable Wife & ID: prefer the modern design looks to go with our design look ... B&W MT-30 with PV1 sub. Guess majority win MA GS10 (new) 600 S4 series MT-30
  3. Hi Cantona7, Glad you like the photos.. Not at all bother..in fact really appreciated other people's comments. My heart say go for it (was thinking of even the JVC DLA-HD1 1080p ) but ID and wife said may not be appropriate (wife worry toddler may stuck watching movies everynight instead of concentrating on studying & playing while ID affraid may not look so nice with the living room design) and better save the $$$ for other more important items like the sofa & bed Totally agree with your comments. 1) It is called projector screen . My living room seating position is about 3-3.5m from the TV console/projector screen so with the short throw option of the Epson is achievable for a 100" in 3m. 2) Was hoping in using dark black out curtains and with the high contrast of the Epson feature it will look very good as in show room with some ambient lights in the background. 3) This is the headache part as need to finalised my electrical layout & cabling next week or two May also need additional DB box just for the Home Threatre....so more cost and more electrical usage. Thanks Homeowner. Hope you like the pics. One of my other hobby is photography. There are many many nicer ones but these are just for the website theme "Singapore CBD" photos with my Canon camera.
  4. Thanks hencpu. Yes finally the real fun begin and can't wait to take all those nice & messy photos at various stages of the reno. What you all think of a 100" electric motorised screen with Epson TW1000 projector in the living room? thx
  5. yup a bit overdue as was holding back doing my RenoBlog as my earlier ID/contractor was not competible last minute I like clean cut designs with modern feel...
  6. Hi mist, Thanks. Definitely will post tons of pics...just worry it will be too much. In the meantime, you can view my other general pics on my photo blog here or my contribution made in SingaporeDailyPhoto website here Huray WEEKEND coming very soon :-) Cheers
  7. Hey Cantona7, Thanks for the info on air-cond. It is very helpful The modern concept is coming along very nicely !! from the look of the planning & initial design.
  8. Thanks xinyi_reiko & enci for dropping by with kind words. Still at designing stage and will post drawings in due course.
  9. Anyone can recommend which air-cond model to get? One unit in the living room (quite large..see pic above) and one in master bedroom and another in kids bedroom. Will only used when necessary or when guest comes as most often will be useing standing fan. Is Mitsubishi system 03 unit (invertor) - Model: MXY-4A28VA/MSXY-GA26VA (x1) and MSXY-GA10VA (x2)...any good ? Anyone using this model? How about Toshiba system 03 unit (invertor) - Model: RAS-4M30YACV / RAS-M22NKCV (x1) and RAS-M10NKCV (x2) . Is this model good? Thanks for your comments..
  10. Congrat. Sure it will be much nicer than at current state. I'm also undergoing a major overhaul on my 20+ yr old place. What theme are you planning to have? Modern/Comtemp, Minimalist, Resort, Zen or mixture?
  11. Good messy sketches... Can you change the door openning to swing the other way? Else you might need to move the fridge to another location .
  12. Thanks. Your reno was very fast indeed. Hope you hang around a bit more to give comments to those just starting otherwise very quite & boring
  13. Congrat candyprincess. Your budget may be a bit tight so you might want to start with the basic with less customised carpentry.
  14. Hi numb Congrats on your new place. Look forward to your pics. We also got the place we wanted having waited so long so not many want to sell in that location cos of the nice view. We are starting the reno soon as the place is very old & run down (unlike yours). Cheers
  15. Thanks for dropping by. Your house is very nice too.
  16. Hi waileong, Unfortunately the curve arches will be the first to go...not modern enough
  17. Hey everyone , Finally got our reno started after many setback and we are so excited and can’t wait the final handover. Thanks for everyone with your advice in the past (e.g GnM, Devilaz, Cokelight, HSH21, Odielim, henpu, diva79, and all those i forgot to mentioned…). Here are some of the original photo before the reno. It’s an old (22yr) original 5 room place so everything in this 130sqm need to be replaced. So will cost a bit more than some of your new flats. Just submitted to HDB the request for approval for the hacking. Now in designing stage. Will be using the best materials so that it will last a long long time and design will be Modern/Contemporary. Leave everything to be handled by my competent & excellent designer Irene from Edgeline Planner Please do feel to comments and give feedbacks on anything. Hope ths will be useful for all those newbies in renotalk that are about to start or currently in the process of renovation. Waiting for Odie & the rest... Cheers Here are the orig pics. The Floor plan... The Living Room... (nice & big) Entrance & Dining area More pics: The Kitchen... (so run down) Common Bathroom.. (ugly pipes) Master Bathroom Master Bedroom...
  18. Please POST picture of your place...really want to see the marble you mentioned. How big is your place? What was the quote that Spacious quoted you? Seems your budget is a bit tight considering you might hack & redo the existing marble floor and want your place to be modern & nice.
  19. So what is your budget? Maybe best if you can post picture of your present place and let everyone give comments on the marble tile. You can check out CRYSTALNG blog here which the design is very nice and modern. I'm sure their portfolio are very good and most also featured in popular home renovation magazines.
  20. Hi enci, I guess the most important part is your budget and don't forget after renovation you need more $$ for the nice furnitures, appliances, etc... I'm sure GPlan, Edgeline, Intradesign, Spacious, FreeSpace, etc.. and others IDs can do a very modern looking house. You just have to see their existing work done to see if that meets your requirements. It's a matter of choosing the design, materials & color selections. Off course the more expensive design & material you choose the more expensive it will be..that is a fact. Go for simplistic & modern comtemp look and you will enjoy a long long time. Sorry did not understand your question on the "broken marble floor". Do you mean you have existing marble floor and you think you should replace it? This depends on your exisiting marble look and whether it blend in with your overall modern design look. Off course marble flooring will be better for it's look, feel & shine...but it will cost a lot more than Homogenous tiles (which btw, can have marble look & feel these days) and you need to maintain well.
  21. We signed up with Irene from Edgeline Planner last week. Definitely agree that fuchsia (thanks for intro us) that their design are very unique and they are very professional in handling the project so far. Workmanship & design are one of the best we have seen and we have seen many many. If your budget meets then i highly recommend this company For more details please refer to my Blogs. Cheers
  22. Hi enci, We did approached this company (a lady served us) last year but i guess they were very busy at the time . Design wise quite good. Price wise was a bit on the high side but i'm not sure what the price they quoted to you. You need to check on the design, materials & workmanship they used. I think they should provide you with details drawing & computer generated design i think upon your confirmation. PM you my experiences & ID. Good luck with your ID hunting. If you do a search i think you can find more comments on this company.
  23. Hi weevenge, There is always a catch Seen Audio House done this many times in the past...the last one being during the World Cup soccer event where you have to guess the correct score. Definitely great price if you are the lucky one....otherwise a waste of time. For more info on this time, you can refer to this discussion here Yes, difficult to always catch the latest product. Btw, Gen 8 pioneer is schedule to launch here in Sep/Oct. Panasonic should have a lot of new model coming very soon.
  24. Hi Weishun, Very nice place you have there and your renovation is coming along great...can't wait to see the final transformation. Great photos...and thanks for uploading for us to see. Cheers
