  1. It never occurs to me until you mentioned it... Main reason was to avoid standing lights and table lamps so to have a neat place....and when you have false ceiling then must have more lighting points.
  2. We think we need a few more (but too late now to change) as when trying to cut down to save cost and found certain area a bit dark now. So now planning to put some extra bright bulb to compensate. Entrance Foyer: 1 Store room: 1 Balcony: 1 (big long light) Living: 17 Dining: 7 Kitchen: 4 Daughter room: 5 Study room: 9 Master Bedroom: 7 Master Bathroom: 4 Common Bathroom: 1 ---------------------- Total: 57 Sorry made mistake, more than 50
  3. Nice Nice TV area. The Comex is starting this Thursday at Suntec. Best to avoid weekend. Planning to get myself a few TV there on Fri. Anyone want to join me and another friend to get better bargain. Looking at Panasonic as it's not too expensive. I heard that 8G may be display there...can't wait to see the "black" that everyone is talking about in Europe on the Pio 8G. I was planning on that but i think price will be bombastic
  4. Hi monsieurlee, Looking forward to seeing the transformation to a modern reno. Good squarish place is great. Enjoy the reno period.
  5. Your place got really nice view
  6. My ID submit the application for us for hacking of one part of the wall and sealed another wall. It should takes around 1-2 weeks (depends how fast & busy the local HDB dept) and longer depends on how complexity the application submitted. Some simple application takes 3-4 days i was told. Ours takes around 1.5-2 weeks.
  7. Thx. The protective fllor sheets is a new placement after the cleanup (1st time) of the place. The workers know i like to be neat & careful
  8. Great info on lightling MaCe. More info on PLC & it's tube? Can an 18W ft into a 13W PLC casing (assume no blockage by any flab of the circel hole)? Some shop said can. Thx
  9. Yup for WAF the KEF is very good and great sound to compliment it. If can wait, wait for the just launch oversea the updated version of KHT3000 which suppose to have better sub & tweak enhancement on the speakers and price around the same. If budget allow and need a bigger look speaker (& better sound) to match the reno or Tv like me then do consider the KHT5000 series. KHT3000 - around S$2.3K i think. KHT5000 - S$3.1K.
  10. Me too and recommending to everyone !!
  11. Hi muffin Welcome. Good idea will definitely contribute to share with everyone what i went thru & my knowledge.
  12. Thanks MaCe for the info & posting on your blog
  13. Thanks MaCe for your valuable advice. All PLC (around 30) lighting are energy saving lights. Only 8 halogen lights are not and these we will hardly on and only on occation when mood is required Not sure about those florescent long tube inside the cove light if energy saving or not. Now thinking it's too warm the overall house (especially the living area). Want to change to more brighter place for kids playing & reading. Planning one cool-white & one daylight tube inside each PLC light...what do you all think? Does anyone done this and what are the adv & disadv? !! Any places where to get cheap & good PLC energy saving white light tube and roughly how much each tube? Osram or GE? Any impact (if change to the cool-white & daylight mixture) on my wall color which is more of creamy light yellow colour with big long black feature wall where the TV will be mounted. I'm thinking now of more practical purpose (for the lighting) for kids instead of showcase house . Thanks guys
  14. Hi Jamez Yes, only 2 places (foyer-living & daughter room) odd angles. Must be creative....see final pic in 1mth time !! Only around 50 lighting points
  15. Just finished installing the majority of the lighting. Here are some pics....
  16. Spam chop #1 Very interesting renovation especially the living area Btw, is the sofa from OM?...looks familiar and very matching to your theme. The dining room curtain really bring the softness into play. Nice black top dinning table and clean cut bright kitchen..
  17. I would like to have more tall unit if allow....cos you can really store a lot of items. In your case you can put microwave oven or toaster inside those open cabinet and make your kitchen very neat & tidy.
  18. Hi Check with the ID or mixer supplier if they can change to a shorter length. Sorry mine is not installed yet.
  19. We never do (i think) chemical washing on the living room homo tiles as not recommended by our ID. Was told that they only do some cleaning on the living room floor homo tiles to get rid of cement & dirts without acid wash...maybe i misunderstood. Do you think MUST/NEED to use chemical washing to remove the cements & stains on the floor homo tiles? Definitely done chemical wash for kitchen & bathroom wall & floor tiles to get rid of those paint & cements. After the chemical washing, the first day smell was just too much
  20. Totally agree with ekardo. Ask salesman to demonstrate his claims and make sure the similar setting and same source are used. Many people misunderstood by seeing those so nice no fast action scene and vibrant colors of the demo materials on the LCD display. I have seen from the same source for HD channel & normal DVD and one of best 52" full HD LCD still cannot compares the color reproduction of Plasma (Pio 507) and on fast action or panning scenes there just no comparisons. Perhaps watching the HD DVD will have better details and slight edge over Plasma due to it's higher resolution but overall for movie experiences Plasma still better. Maybe the next xbr range of LCD from Sony (schedule to launch in a few months time worldwide) should improve on this. I'm looking for a 32" LCD for the bedroom...any good feedback & recomendation? Samsung R81 or Panasonic PV70/PV700? Thx
  21. See no camera tricks...more shines
  22. Hi ah_kiat, Thanks for the compliment but i'm not a pro but getting there day by day I do not own a great P&S (point & shoot) camera like these before so do not have working experience. My bro & sis has the older IXUS a few years back and they find it very solid and reliable. I expect the same for these latest range. On the specs on Canon website it is very good. If you need a larger LCD screen i would consider the newer IXUS 750 with 3.0inch screen. Saw on the newstand oversea magazine that this 750 was voted one of the best P&S camera currently due to it's features & auto setting overrides. But as you said if your requirements is for a wider angle shot then the 850IS with 28mm is very nice to have for group & landscape pictures. Cannot compares to SLR camera in terms of wide angle unless for static situation. No sound recording which 750 have. But the 3.8 optical zoom is very good to have. A great overall small pocket camera. Great for all occation especially for holiday . p.s; When are you planning to purchase? End of month Comex show?
  23. You can also consider the Denon newly launched DHT-FS3. More info can be found HERE Price is around S$1450 and can be audition at KEC in Adelphi.
