Some pictures of my kitchen, which is now in full operation. It is messy, i should have clean up a bit before taking the pictures, but i'm too lazy. never regret getting such a huge fridge. my tiny kitchen. L-shape counter constructed to utilize space. i gave up my search for a white top-load washer and instead, got this black/silver direct-drive washer. saw that its selling $699 at courts, i managed to get it at $480 for a display set

Finally, handover is this Friday. But... still lots of problems to rectify. My solid top was scratched, laminate flooring also scratched, main door scratched. I'm not happy with the workmanship of kitchen cabinet, study table and wardrobe. Waiting for the carpenters to come back

The original kitchen wall tiles will be covered by glass backsplash, speaking of which, I have not chose the color yet. I'm not sure whether the glass will be put up directly on the tiles or they will put a layer of board underneath the glass. Will see how it goes. Solid top will be up tomorrow. Backsplash will be the last in order.

I didn't know that a black version exist. Ha-ha. Your little red pot is super cute on the stove.

I think we have the same dining light. It looks great at your place!

Preview of my unfinished kitchen. Noticed that the oven is sitting very uncomfortably in its hole. Must ensure that it fits nicely in after electrician has installed the socket points.

I got this from LC Lighting from Balestier, Shaw Plaza. Not sure if they still have stock for it. When i went to collect the light few days after ordering, i realised that the display one was gone. The guy told me that someone after me bought the display one and mine was a new piece brought down from warehouse. Not sure if he was telling the truth but i was glad to get the light even if it was a display piece. There is another design which is very similar to mine. Mine is shaped like a diamond, the other one is shaped like a funnel, quite nice also.

Contractor informed me that workers will be putting up kitchen cabinet today. Can't wait to go down and take a look. Hoping that it will be a smooth sailing process...

i actually like your tiles alot, especially the living room ones. i guess not many people choose those because they are quite pricey. i believe your place will turn out gorgeous and unique. can't wait for to see it.

the one i'm interested is 91x61cm. why not we put up the links of the poster we want here so that we can check out the combine shipping rate?
-
Yah, so it will only be worth it if we are combining orders for those getting the same sizes.
-
From what i analyze, it seems to be $28 + $1 if you order 2 prints which are of the same size. so if you order 2 prints with different sizes, it will be $28 + $28. For bigger prints, it might be $29 instead of $28. The shipping rate is very vague on the help page, can only know the exact rate when you cart out the items.

Hi Drexter, they are having 15% off now and i think its the last day today. May i know what is the size of the poster you may be ordering? Maybe we can order together to save on shipping if we are getting the same size.

Renovation Progress - Lighting Up (Part 2) The wall light placed along the walkway connecting 2 rooms. I'm really glad we found this light. We had the most trouble looking for a suitable wall light, as we need to get one which is not too big yet bright enough, at the same time doesn't give out too much heat, must have a switch on the light itself so that we can switch on/off while walking past and most importantly, within our miserable budget. A simple white powder coated light for both toilets. And the light we got from Ikea. This is the master toilet where a customized mirror will be hung. Can't wait to see how it will turn out.

Renovation Progress - Lighting Up (Part 1) We are on a tight budget so couldn't afford all the pretty pretty lights. Wished i could put them up in my house and admire everyday, but No, we have already spent most of money on reno and furnishing Most of the lights we got are plain hamburger lights. We got 2 sizes. Bigger sizes ones are from Panasonic, we put them in areas where we will require more light. Smaller ones are brandless, we placed them in areas like service yard, walkways and entrance. This is one of the hamburger lights we put in living room. We paid extra $20 to install a warm bulb inside together with a IC chip so that we can have the option of having either yellow or white or both light at the same time depending on our mood. A simple white light for the dining area. The bedroom light with warm and white light options. Extra $30 for a remote control. Unknowingly, the bedroom light actually turn out to be the same color as our laminate flooring.

Ceiling fan up in living room. Bought this Franco 48" 3 blade fan. There's a few reasons why i bought this fan beside it being cheap Firstly because of size constrain. I didn't do up any false ceiling for my flat, so the fan is to be placed in between 2 lighting points. We did some calculations and after consulting some shops in Balestier, we concluded that a 48" fan is the safest size for us to get, so that the fan will be far enough from each light source and not casting any shadow while spinning. Secondly, i was looking for a 3-blade fan. I like simple and boring looking fan. Nothing fanciful. Plus, less blades mean less cleaning. Some people have the perception that more blades equal more wind. That's incorrect. We need to take into consideration the rpm and also ceiling height. I flipped through the Franco brochure and realised that the rpm of this 3-blade fan is in fact higher than some other 5-blade fan. Also, the fan comes with a switch with 4 speed mode which is good. However, the blades are aluminum instead of acrylic. The guy who sold us the fan said that as long as we don't live near the sea, getting a non-acrylic fan is alright. I thought of the aluminum fan in my current place which has been serving us for more than 10 years without problem, we went ahead and bought the fan.

Problem Encountered - The Heater Tank We had previously planned to install our heater tank in the master toilet. This space next to the concealed pipes is the perfect place for the tank. Husband have measured the space available before we purchased the tank to ensure that everything fits in nicely. We have taken into consideration width from wall to the box-up, add in extra few inches for pipes to connect to the tank, and also height of the tank so that it will not go below the toilet window after installation. We bought the Joven 25L storage tank as the measurement fits nicely into the hole. Beside the measurement, we like the fact that it is a 25L. Other brands come only in either 15L or 30L while Joven has something in between which is great, so when both toilets decide to take a hot shower at the same time, there will still be sufficient hot water and pressure. Joven also comes with a 10 year leak-proof warranty which is a bonus. This is the tank, horizontal model. These are the brackets to be mount on the wall for holding up the tank. Bad News: The plumber told me that he wont be able to install the tank at the location i want. Reason was that the brackets need to be mounted on the wall first, and then he will need to slot the tank into the ring brackets. As the boxup is just next to the bracket, there will be no clearance where he can push the tank in. I was told that i need to change to another model if i want to fit the tank in that hole. I was not willing to change to another smaller capacity tank, so i suggested to put the tank up in service yard instead. It was an expensive move, because pipes have to be relaid, and an extra electrical point for heater required as the electrician has already previously placed the point in my master toilet. Plastering and painting also need to be done again as electrical trunkings were taken down to rerun the extra point. I was asked to top up $400 for the change. If i have known that a top up was required, i would have rather change the heater model. Upset and angry, my husband negotiated with our contractor to reduced the top up amount. I have fought very hard throughout the renovation progress to ensure that there will be no additional top up for our final quotation. This was the first top up, and i was very affected by it. We have come to a negotiation for this top up as it is not worth to the sour the relationship with our contractor. So anyone else buying Joven storage tank, do make sure that you have enough clearance space for the tank to slot into the brackets.

Hi ks82, i got my oven for $640. Didn't do much comparison for oven before i buy, so not sure whether i got it at a good price.
-
I got it from GR Link, just beside Poh Seng. I bought most of my fixtures from there, and Benny gave me a discount off the total amount. So $188 is sort of like before discount. The shop is run by a couple, very friendly and helpful people.
